There are metal songs that take themselves incredibly seriously.
Then there’s King Kraken’s “Chainsaw Saviour.”
This is a gloriously over-the-top, riff-heavy monster that stomps out of the speakers with all the subtlety of a chainsaw ripping through a log at full throttle. Equal parts heavy metal anthem, horror movie madness and tongue-in-cheek fun, Chainsaw Saviour perfectly captures everything that makes King Kraken one of the UK’s most entertaining modern metal bands.
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if Black Sabbath, Motörhead and a cult horror film got locked in a garage together… this is probably the answer.
🪚 Heavy, Dirty and Absolutely Glorious
From the opening riff, Chainsaw Saviour makes its intentions crystal clear.
This isn’t polished radio rock.
It’s filthy, groove-laden heavy metal packed with swagger, attitude and enough low-end punch to rattle your fillings loose.
The guitars grind away with thick, bluesy riffs while the rhythm section drives everything forward like a runaway freight train. Every beat feels enormous, creating a wall of sound that’s impossible not to headbang to.
It’s loud.
It’s nasty.
It’s brilliant.
🎸 Riffs Built to Shake Festival Fields
King Kraken have always understood one important rule:
A great riff is worth more than a thousand unnecessary notes.
Chainsaw Saviour is packed with them.
Each riff lands like a wrecking ball, combining old-school heavy metal groove with modern production that gives every instrument room to breathe. The song never loses momentum, constantly pushing forward while giving the chorus plenty of space to explode.
You’ll be humming these riffs long after the song finishes.
🎤 Vocals Full of Character
Rather than relying on sheer aggression, the vocals ooze personality.
There’s grit, confidence and a mischievous grin behind every line, making the performance feel theatrical without becoming cartoonish. The delivery perfectly suits the band’s larger-than-life image, balancing humour with genuine heavy metal power.
It’s impossible not to get caught up in the fun.
🎥 A Music Video Bursting With Chaos
The official video embraces the madness from start to finish.
Packed with horror-inspired imagery, dark humour and the band’s trademark larger-than-life energy, it feels like a love letter to classic B-movie horror wrapped inside a crushing heavy metal performance.
It’s creative, entertaining and never forgets that metal should be fun.
That sense of personality shines through every frame.
🔥 Made for Live Mayhem
If you’ve seen King Kraken live, you’ll already know these riffs hit twice as hard on stage.
Chainsaw Saviour feels purpose-built for festivals, with massive choruses, stomping grooves and enough energy to ignite pits from the opening note.
You can already picture thousands of fists pumping in the air while the crowd screams every word back at the band.
It’s impossible to stand still.
🤘 The Riff Report Verdict
King Kraken continue proving why they’re one of the UK’s most exciting heavy metal bands.
Chainsaw Saviour delivers everything you’d want from a modern metal anthem—massive riffs, infectious grooves, huge personality and a wicked sense of humour that sets the band apart from the crowd.
Heavy doesn’t always have to be serious.
Sometimes it just needs to be ridiculously good fun.
And Chainsaw Saviour delivers exactly that.
