Fact checking policy

Keeping It Loud. Keeping It Real.

At The Riff Report Blog, we may be daft about riffs, stage dives, and mullets โ€“ but when it comes to the facts, we donโ€™t mess about. ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ’ฅ

Weโ€™re committed to 100% accurate headlines and apply a rigorous vetting process to every story we publish. Whether itโ€™s a surprise reunion, a leaked setlist, or the 800th โ€œMetallicaโ€™s final tour?โ€ rumour โ€“ we label it clearly. Confirmed news is confirmed. Leaks are leaks. Datamines are datamines. No funny business.

๐Ÿ” Before We Write a Single Word:

  • We verify all information and track it back to the original source.
  • We donโ€™t take other outletsโ€™ word for it if they havenโ€™t got the receipts.
  • If it ainโ€™t 100% confirmed, we donโ€™t treat it like it is. Even if the internetโ€™s gone into meltdown.
  • We donโ€™t do clickbait. Our headlines might be bold and cheeky โ€“ but never misleading.

๐Ÿ“ž Chasing Official Comments:

When we report on rumours, leaks, or insider whispers (Reddit, X/Twitter, YouTube, or that one sketchy Instagram accountโ€ฆ), we reach out to official reps, PR teams, and publishers for comment. Whether they reply or not, we give them the chance.

We respect the process, we know the ropes, and we love a good scoop โ€“ but we never compromise on integrity. Thatโ€™s just not rockโ€™nโ€™roll.

๐Ÿง  When Itโ€™s A Riff Report Original:

If we break a story, we follow basic journalism principles and value transparency in every sentence. We maintain strong relationships with industry insiders โ€“ from record labels and festival bookers to band managers and backstage roadies (the real legends).

๐Ÿงญ When We Go Deeper (Feature Content):

Our standards for features and opinion pieces are just as high:

  • Research is king ๐Ÿ‘‘
  • Every theory is backed up (and if itโ€™s not confirmed, weโ€™ll bloody say so)
  • Counter-arguments are considered, โ€˜cos nobody likes a one-sided mosh pit.

Weโ€™re not just telling you the news. Weโ€™re helping you understand why it matters, what it means for the scene, and what might happen next. Proper job.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ Who Are We Anyway?

Weโ€™re a mighty crew of riff-obsessed maniacs from every walk of life โ€“ film buffs, creative writers, social workers, business brains โ€“ all united by a love of metal, rock, punk, and glorious chaos. ๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

We donโ€™t just write content. We live it. From the pit to the press tent, from the pub to the page.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Need a Correction?

Weโ€™re human. If you spot something dodgy or outdated, let us know and weโ€™ll fix it faster than a roadie on espresso.
