Lens Review

Welcome to The Riff Report Lens Reviews โ€“ where sharp glass, fast autofocus and glorious background blur meet dark venues, unpredictable musicians and enormous festival stages. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ”ญ๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿค˜

Our lens reviews are written with gig photographers, festival photographers, videographers and content creators firmly in mind.

Rather than simply repeating specifications, we'll explore how each lens could perform when you're standing in a photo pit with the traditional first three songs, no flash and absolutely no opportunity for a second attempt.

Expect detailed coverage of sharpness, autofocus performance, aperture, image stabilisation, focal range, distortion, flare, chromatic aberration, bokeh and low-light capability.

We'll also examine size, weight, build quality, weather sealing, controls, filter sizes and overall handling, because carrying heavy camera equipment around a festival for twelve hours can quickly turn photography into an endurance sport. ๐Ÿ˜‚

For videographers, we'll consider features such as focus breathing, stabilisation, autofocus transitions and handheld usability.

Most importantly, we'll ask the questions that matter in the real world.

Is it wide enough for cramped venues?

Does it have enough reach for festival stages?

Can it cope with terrible lighting?

And is the image quality worth the weight and asking price?

From ultra-wide lenses and fast primes to standard and telephoto zooms, we'll put the glass under the spotlight.

Gigs. Festivals. Photography. Video. Glass.

Welcome to The Riff Report Lens Reviews โ€“ helping you find the right glass to capture the riffs. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿค˜
