Axl Rose turned up fashionably late (as per ancient GNR tradition), and when the band finally hit the stage, everyone thought, โTidy, theyโre gonna smash this.โ But then the reality set inโฆ
The set went on forever. Like, biblical levels of endurance. Three hours of peaks, valleys, and more Slash solos than a human brain can process. Donโt get us wrong โ the riffs were ๐ฅ and the manโs a legend โ but the momentum was all over the shop.
By the time โParadise Cityโ kicked in, half the crowd had already escaped for chips, beer, or just to get their legs working again. Some poor sods were even napping on the hill like festival veterans in a war film. ๐ฅฑ
And letโs not forget the sound issues โ that dreaded Download wind playing havoc with the mix โ plus the classic Axl time delays that left fans muttering โnever againโ under their breath.
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Fast Forward to 2026 โ Redemption or Rerun?
Now, in 2026, Guns Nโ Roses are back on the bill. The posters are up, the hype machineโs rolling, and the internetโs losing its collective mind. Butโฆ do people remember 2018? Or are we all choosing to forget for the sake of nostalgia and a few tasty riffs?
Itโs like the rock version of getting back with your ex โ you know the drama, you remember the chaos, but that first riff of โSweet Child Oโ Mineโ hits and suddenly youโre like, โYeah alright, one more go thenโฆโ ๐
To be fair, since that infamous Download show, the band have pulled off some proper tidy performances worldwide. Axlโs even been mostly on time (miracles do happen). Maybe this is their big redemption arc โ their chance to prove that Donington and Guns Nโ Roses can finally get along without testing everyoneโs bladder control. ๐

Will GNR 2026 be the comeback of the decade or the encore no one asked for?
If Axl hits the stage on time, keeps the setlist tight, and they rip through the hits like itโs 1987 again โ then, yeah, it could be glorious. But if weโre still stood in the rain waiting for โNovember Rainโ to start in actual November… we might have a problem. ๐ง๏ธ
