The Retsecrows machine isnโt slowing down.
Midlands young guns Retsecrows released their new single โFollowโ on Friday 4 September 2026, continuing a seriously busy year for a band steadily making more noise across the UK grassroots rock and metal scene.
Following the arrival of โManiacโ earlier in 2026, โFollowโ represents another fresh blast from a young outfit refusing to sit around waiting for opportunities to magically appear.
Theyโre writing.
Theyโre recording.
Theyโre gigging.
And theyโre continuing to build Retsecrows the way rock bands have always done it best:
One song and one sweaty venue at a time. ๐ค๐ฅ
๐ Retsecrows Keep Moving Forward
Formed in Worcestershire in 2022, Retsecrows have already packed a remarkable amount into their relatively short existence.
The teenage four-piece have developed their sound through an increasingly busy live schedule, combining the enormous influence of the Midlandsโ heavy-metal heritage with a much broader collection of modern rock and alternative influences.
Their musical world stretches from classic heavyweights such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest through to Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token and Fontaines D.C.
Thatโs quite a collection of ingredients to chuck into the musical blender.
But rather than simply copying the bands decorating their playlists, Retsecrows are gradually discovering what Retsecrows actually sounds like.
โFollowโ represents another step in that process.
๐ฅ โFollowโ
Following the heavier direction demonstrated by โManiacโ, โFollowโ keeps Retsecrowsโ 2026 momentum firmly alive.
For any emerging band, those early singles are incredibly important.
Every track is another opportunity to experiment.
Another opportunity to discover what works live.
Another chance to develop chemistry between four musicians who are still growing together as a band.
And another opportunity for listeners encountering Retsecrows for the first time to jump aboard.
The bandโs own wonderfully straightforward description of their music remains:
Dirty metal. Guitar-driven rock. No apologies.
Weโll happily take some of that.
๐ธ Meet Retsecrows
The current Retsecrows line-up features:
- Luca โ Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar
- Ollie โ Lead Guitar
- Lily โ Bass
- George โ Drums
Despite their young ages, the four musicians have already spent several years building the sort of experience that canโt really be downloaded, streamed or learned from watching somebody elseโs TikTok clips.
Stage time.
Every gig teaches you something.
How to recover when something goes wrong.
How to read a crowd.
How to make a small stage feel enormous.
How to turn somebody who has never heard your band before into somebody standing at the merch table afterwards.
That experience has become a huge part of the Retsecrows story.
โก Following โManiacโ
โFollowโ arrives after โManiacโ, which Retsecrows released in March 2026.
That track represented the bandโs first new original material in more than a year following earlier singles โGrief Of Meโ and โBlood Sea.โ
โManiacโ also demonstrated a noticeably heavier direction for the youngsters, having been developed extensively through their live performances before being committed to record.
Now, less than six months later, weโve got another one.
Thatโs important.
Retsecrows arenโt allowing the momentum generated by โManiacโ to disappear.
Instead, theyโre adding another song to an increasingly interesting young catalogue.
Grief Of Me.
Blood Sea.
Maniac.
And nowโฆ
Follow.
The story is starting to take shape.
๐ Teaming Up With Laney Amplification
The release of โFollowโ also coincides with another significant development for Retsecrows.
The band have collaborated with legendary British amplification company Laney Amplification, connecting the young Midlands outfit with a name deeply woven into the history of British heavy music.
And thatโs a pretty bloody cool circle.
Laneyโs roots stretch back to Birmingham in 1967, when Lyndon Laney founded the company.
Its amplifiers subsequently became associated with some monumental names in heavy music, most famously Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi.
Decades later, a new generation of Midlands musicians are continuing to make noise through Laney equipment.
Rock history has a funny habit of looping back around.
๐ค From Worcestershire To Bigger Stages
Retsecrows have increasingly become familiar faces around Britainโs grassroots rock circuit.
Festival appearances and support slots have allowed the band to move beyond their immediate local scene, putting their music in front of audiences who might otherwise never have discovered them.
Thatโs where releases like โFollowโ become particularly useful.
Someone catches Retsecrows at a festival.
They like what they hear.
They get home.
They search for the band.
And suddenly thereโs another track waiting for them.
Thatโs how grassroots audiences grow.
Not overnight.
Not through some magical algorithm.
Person by person. Gig by gig. Song by song.
๐ฟ Is Something Bigger Coming?
With โManiacโ arriving in March and โFollowโ following โ appropriately enough โ in September, the obvious question becomes:
Whatโs next?
Another standalone single?
An EP?
Eventually a debut album?
For now, the important thing is that Retsecrows continue building their catalogue rather than rushing towards a full-length record simply because thatโs what bands traditionally do.
There is absolutely no need to sprint.
Retsecrows are still developing their sound, expanding their audience and accumulating live experience.
Theyโve got time.
Lots of it.
And thatโs one of the most exciting things about watching a genuinely young band develop.
The Retsecrows we hear today might sound considerably different from the Retsecrows we hear three or four years from now.
Thatโs not something to fear.
Thatโs the whole bloody point.
๐ธ The Riff Report Saysโฆ
Supporting grassroots music means more than sharing the bands who already have millions of streams and enormous festival logos behind their names.
Sometimes youโve got to look considerably further down the bill.
Into the clubs.
Into the pubs.
Into the rehearsal rooms.
Thatโs where tomorrowโs bands are currently figuring everything out.
And Retsecrows are doing exactly that.
โFollowโ continues what has already become a productive 2026 for the Worcestershire youngsters, arriving only months after โManiacโ pushed their sound into heavier territory.
The most encouraging thing isnโt simply that theyโre releasing music.
Itโs that theyโre building.
More songs.
More gigs.
More experience.
More opportunities.
Every release adds another brick.
And while nobody can predict where any young band ultimately ends up, Retsecrows have already given themselves one hell of a head start.
So crank up โFollowโ.
Get yourself down the front when these lot appear on a bill near you.
And remember the name.
Retsecrows arenโt waiting around for the future.
Theyโre already making a bloody racket in it. ๐ค๐ฅ
