The Riff Report – No ticket? No mercy. Just madness.

Well, it wouldn’t be a true Oasis gig without a bit of chaos at the gates, would it? 😎 On Friday night, July 11th, as Liam and Noel finally strutted back on stage together in Manchester’s Heaton Park for the first time in 16 bloody years, some fans decided they weren’t about to let a sold-out show stop ‘em.

Because when you don’t have a ticket to the gig of the decade, what do you do?

You grab a ladder, butt. đŸȘœ

🎾 “There’s 50 of ‘em trying to scale the fence, Sarge
”

Yes, you read that right. Around 50 fans tried breaking into Heaton Park, including some absolute legends (or lunatics?) who were spotted carrying a ladder in broad daylight like they were off to repaint the Gallagher family living room. đŸŽšđŸŽ€

According to eyewitnesses and snaps doing the rounds online, there was a full-on police response just outside the park. Coppers, stewards, dogs, horses — the works. 🚓🐮🐕

It was like the final boss level of British gig etiquette, and spoiler alert: the bosses failed. One by one, they were stopped, turned away, or politely escorted away from the scene
except “politely” in this case involved a dispersal order and the sternest Manc accents known to man. 😬

🛑 What’s a Dispersal Order Then, Mun?

A dispersal order gives police and community support officers the power to:

  • Move on groups loitering or being “a nuisance” (aka chanting “LIIIAAAM” for 3 hours straight)
  • Break up potential trouble before it starts
  • Chuck anyone trying to scale a bloody park fence into a van 🚐

It’s basically the official party-pooper badge, and it’s in place all weekend around Heaton Park. If you’re planning to “just pop down and have a listen” from the outside — think again, butt.

🌳 Gallagher Hill: The Fans’ Fortress

Now here’s where things get a bit proper lush.

While the police were wrangling with fence jumpers and stewards were tackling stepladder smugglers, another crowd gathered peacefully nearby, creating a now-iconic makeshift viewing zone dubbed “Gallagher Hill.” đŸžïž

With pint cans, portable speakers, and dodgy Bluetooth radios, hundreds of fans without tickets rocked up just outside the perimeter and turned the grassy hill into a de facto fan zone. Think Glastonbury meets B&Q car park
 with attitude.

From there, you could hear the roars, the riffs, and the brothers themselves belting out the classics. One fan told us:

“We couldn’t get tickets but we could feel the gig in our bones, mun. It was like the hill itself was singing along.”

Poetic stuff. Pint-worthy, even. đŸ»

🧠 Ladders to Heaven or Stairway to Arrest?

Let’s not sugarcoat it — climbing a fence into a sold-out show is dumb. Especially when the fuzz are already expecting it and the park is basically Fort Gallagher for the next week.

We get it. You wanted to be in there. So did half the country. But turning up with a stepladder is a bit Looney Tunes — and also very illegal.

And just imagine the scenes when you get to the top, only to be greeted by a copper holding a sausage roll and a taser. Game over, mun. 😂

📰 The Big Picture – Oasis Gigs Have Always Been Mad

Let’s rewind:

  • Knebworth ‘96 – fans swam across rivers to get a glimpse of the Gallaghers.
  • Finsbury Park 2002 – flares, chaos, and a bloke who claimed he “saw God during Slide Away.”
  • Cardiff 2025 – five-star chaos with ticketless fans scaling railings.

And now? Heaton Park 2025 – the year of the Ladder Crew. đŸȘœđŸ‘Š

You couldn’t make it up. But of course, you don’t need to. This is Oasis. This is Manchester. This is what happens when the biggest Britpop band of all time reunites after 16 years and drops “Live Forever” under a golden sunset in front of 80,000.

TL;DR:

  • đŸ§—â€â™‚ïž 50 fans tried jumping fences at Heaton Park – some with a literal LADDER
  • đŸ‘źâ€â™‚ïž Police issued a dispersal order for the surrounding area all weekend
  • đŸš« No ticket = no entry (and possibly a chat with Manchester’s finest)
  • 🌄 “Gallagher Hill” is now a thing – fans without tickets are listening in from nearby
  • đŸ€Ż Oasis gigs continue to be absolute carnage in the best way possible

So, if you’re off to one of the next Heaton Park dates — for the love of all that is Manc and musical, bring your ticket, not your toolbox. And if you’re on Gallagher Hill
keep it tidy, keep it loud, and don’t fall off the back of the camping chair, alright?

We’ll be back with more madness, more pints, and probably more ladders.
