The Milton Keynes event will mark Ozzfest’s first UK edition since 2001, while Mexico City will host the festival for the very first time.
All three events will be single-day festivals, rather than traditional three-day camping weekends.
And the most exciting detail?
The 2027 line-ups will be personally curated by Sharon Osbourne.
🏟️ Why Ozzfest Is Returning To Milton Keynes Instead Of Birmingham
Originally, the British comeback was being planned for Villa Park in Birmingham, the venue that hosted Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s historic Back To The Beginning farewell concert in July 2025.
However, ongoing construction work at Villa Park means the stadium will not be available for the planned summer concert.
Rather than postpone the festival until 2028, organisers decided to relocate it.
And the replacement venue couldn’t be more appropriate.
The National Bowl in Milton Keynes!
This legendary outdoor amphitheatre has a remarkable connection to Ozzfest’s history.
The venue hosted the festival’s first British edition in 1998 and welcomed it back in 2001.
Returning in 2027 brings the event back to one of the locations that helped establish its reputation among British metalheads.
🤘 The Legendary Ozzfest 1998 Line-Up
When Ozzfest arrived at Milton Keynes in 1998, it delivered an extraordinary collection of heavy music.
The bill featured major names including:
- Black Sabbath
- Ozzy Osbourne
- Pantera
- Slayer
- Foo Fighters
- Soulfly
- Fear Factory
For fans lucky enough to attend, it was an opportunity to experience some of the biggest names in heavy metal and alternative rock sharing the same festival site.
And looking back at that line-up today, it’s easy to understand why Ozzfest developed such a formidable reputation.
🔥 Ozzfest 2001 – Another Historic Milton Keynes Gathering
Three years later, the festival returned to the National Bowl with another extraordinary collection of bands.
The 2001 event featured artists including:
- Black Sabbath
- Slipknot
- Tool
- Papa Roach
- Disturbed
The festival was becoming increasingly important to the development of modern heavy metal.
Nu-metal was enjoying enormous mainstream success, while established metal legends continued to attract passionate audiences.
Ozzfest brought those different generations together.
And that mixture of established stars and emerging artists became one of its defining characteristics.
🎸 Sharon Osbourne And Andy Copping Join Forces Again
The 2027 British event will bring together Sharon Osbourne and Andy Copping, one of the most recognisable figures in British rock and metal festival promotion.
Copping is particularly well known for his longstanding involvement with Download Festival.
He also worked with Sharon on the Back To The Beginning concert in Birmingham.
Their renewed partnership is an important development for the Ozzfest comeback.
Sharon brings decades of experience managing Ozzy’s career and overseeing the original festival.
Copping brings extensive knowledge of the modern British festival landscape.
Together, they face the challenge of creating an event that honours Ozzfest’s history while remaining relevant to today’s metal audience.
🎤 Who Will Headline Ozzfest 2027?
No bands have been officially announced for the 2027 line-ups yet.
That’s the important detail fans need to remember.
Although the festival dates and venues are confirmed, the performers are still being finalised.
Organisers say the full line-ups will be revealed in the coming months.
The festival’s history includes appearances from some of the biggest names in heavy music, including Slipknot, System Of A Down, Korn, Disturbed, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, Rob Zombie and Avenged Sevenfold.
However, previous appearances do not mean those bands will return in 2027.
Until official announcements are made, any suggested headliners remain speculation.
Will Ozzfest Support Unsigned Bands?
One of the most encouraging aspects of the comeback is the Osbourne family’s continued interest in supporting emerging musicians.
Jack Osbourne has discussed the importance of maintaining the festival’s tradition of introducing new talent to larger audiences.
He has also suggested that at least one unsigned artist could receive a place on the bill.
For independent musicians, that’s an exciting possibility.
Ozzfest wasn’t simply about the established headline acts.
It helped introduce audiences to bands that would eventually become major international names.
And bringing that philosophy back would be a fitting tribute to Ozzy’s original vision.
🇲🇽 Ozzfest Heads To Mexico For The First Time
The September 2027 event in Mexico City will mark an important milestone.
Although Ozzfest has a long history in the United States and Britain, this will be its first Mexican edition.
Taking place at Estadio GNP Seguros, the festival will introduce the Ozzfest experience to another major international audience.
Mexico has a passionate rock and metal community, making it an exciting destination for the festival’s expansion.
The Mexican event follows the American edition in San Bernardino by just one week.
🇺🇸 Back To Where It All Began – San Bernardino
The American comeback will take place at Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California.
The location has a particularly important connection to Ozzfest.
San Bernardino was part of the festival’s inaugural 1996 run, making the return another symbolic link to its beginnings.
The venue has hosted numerous major outdoor rock and metal events over the years.
And with Ozzfest returning after a lengthy absence, the September performance promises to be an important occasion for American metal fans.
🦇 Remembering Ozzy Osbourne – The Man Behind The Festival
Ozzfest’s return will inevitably carry enormous emotional significance.
Ozzy Osbourne died on 22 July 2025, just 17 days after his final performance at Back To The Beginning in Birmingham.
The concert reunited the original members of Black Sabbath for a historic farewell performance.
It was an extraordinary celebration of Ozzy’s contribution to heavy metal.
But his influence extended far beyond his recordings and live performances.
Through Ozzfest, Ozzy and Sharon helped create opportunities for younger musicians and introduced audiences to bands that might otherwise have struggled to reach major stages.
The festival became an important part of his legacy.
And its return in 2027 provides an opportunity to continue that tradition.
🐉 What Does Ozzfest’s Return Mean For Welsh Metalheads?
For fans in Wales, the announcement is particularly exciting.
Although Milton Keynes isn’t exactly around the corner from Cardiff, Newport or Swansea, it’s considerably closer than travelling to California or Mexico!
And with Wales boasting a thriving heavy metal scene, there will undoubtedly be plenty of interest in the festival’s return.
The country has produced influential rock and metal artists across several generations, from Budgie and Bullet For My Valentine to countless independent bands currently performing across Cymru.
Here at The Riff Report, we’d love to see Welsh musicians represented on the 2027 bill.
Imagine a rising Welsh metal band receiving the opportunity to perform alongside some of the biggest names in the genre.
That’s exactly the sort of opportunity Ozzfest became famous for creating.
Sharon, Andy, if you’re reading this, don’t forget the Welsh metal scene! 🐉🤘

🐉 The Riff Report Says…
OZZFEST IS COMING HOME, AND HEAVY METAL HAS ANOTHER REASON TO CELEBRATE! 🦇🔥
There are certain festival names that immediately bring back memories of extraordinary performances, unforgettable bands and enormous crowds of metalheads.
Ozzfest is one of them.
For years, it helped shape the international heavy metal landscape, introducing audiences to new artists while celebrating the musicians who built the genre.
Its return in 2027 is more than another festival announcement.
It’s an opportunity to revive a musical institution.
And the decision to bring the British edition back to Milton Keynes makes the occasion even more special.
The National Bowl played an important role in Ozzfest’s British history.
Now, almost three decades after its first appearance there, the festival is preparing to return.
Of course, the biggest question remains unanswered.
WHO’S GOING TO BE ON THAT LINE-UP?
We’ll have to wait for Sharon Osbourne and Andy Copping to reveal their plans.
But the foundations are certainly exciting.
Three international festivals.
A return to the original British venue.
A first-ever Mexican edition.
And a commitment to celebrating the legacy of one of heavy metal’s most influential figures.
Ozzy Osbourne may no longer be here to lead the celebrations, but the music, the memories and the community he helped create remain very much alive.
