Alright Cardiff, brace yourselves – something massive is coming to town… and it ain’t a rugby match or a seagull the size of a toddler. We’re talking about BLACKWEIR LIVE – a brand spanking new concert series landing right in the heart of the capital for Summer 2025, and it’s got us buzzing louder than the soundcheck on Castle Street. 🤘🔥
🏟️ WHAT IS BLACKWEIR LIVE?
Think open-air gigs. Think big names. Think 35,000 fans losing their voices together under the Cardiff sky. Blackweir Live is the brand new greenfield concert series landing at Blackweir Fields, and it’s set to be the hottest ticket in Wales this summer.
Brought to life by the live music masterminds at Cuffe & Taylor (yep, the folks behind Lytham Festival and Scarborough Open Air Theatre) and the local party pros at DEPOT Live, this ain’t no one-night pop-up. This is Cardiff’s next major musical movement.
📍 WHERE EXACTLY IS BLACKWEIR FIELDS?
Struggling to place it? Let’s break it down:
🧭 Bang in the middle of the city
🏰 A short stroll from Cardiff Castle
🎓 Practically sitting in Cardiff Uni’s backyard
🍟 Just far enough from the chippy to stop you missing the encore
Whether you’re local or coming in from the valleys, Blackweir Fields is a tidy spot to catch a show. Easy to get to, central for pre-drinks, and surrounded by that iconic Cardiff scenery. What more do you want, butt?
🎵 WHY DOES CARDIFF NEED THIS?
Because Cardiff is already a capital of culture and chaos when it comes to live music. From sold-out stadium shows at the Principality to legendary nights in Clwb Ifor Bach, we’ve got the venues. We’ve got the crowds. We’ve got the soul.
But here’s the thing – we’ve never had an outdoor concert series like this before.
Not on this scale. Not smack-dab in the middle of the city. Not with up to 35,000 legends raving in unison with the castle glowing behind them.
This is next level. This is turning Cardiff into the Glasto of the capital cities (without the muddy trek or overpriced falafel). 🌧️➡️🌤️
🤔 WHO’S PLAYING THEN?
Ah, the million-pound question! While the full lineup is still under lock and key tighter than Liam Gallagher’s top button, a few early names have already started trickling through. And yep – they’re bloody brilliant:
🎤 Alanis Morissette – It’s like rain on your gig day? Nah, it’s gonna be fire.
🎸 Slayer – Thrash legends in a field next to a uni library. Only in Wales, mun…
🎶 Stevie Wonder – Yes. That Stevie Wonder. We’re not joking.
Expect a mix of global icons, indie legends, metal monsters, pop superstars, and local heroes – all packed into a few glorious weeks. From heartfelt singalongs to circle pits, Blackweir is gonna serve it all on a dragon-sized platter.
🛠️ WHAT MAKES BLACKWEIR DIFFERENT?
Besides the elite lineups, the lush greenfield location, and the fact you can pregame in a Spoons and still be at the gates in five mins?
✅ It’s brand new. This is the first time anyone’s done this in Cardiff. We’re not just making history – we’re moshing in it.
✅ It’s massive. 35,000 cap. That’s bigger than some UK festivals. And it’s not even the full park. Madness.
✅ It’s for everyone. Metalheads, pop fans, disco dancers, and indie kids – there’s a spot for you at Blackweir. No wristband snobbery here, just vibes.
✅ It’s local. Powered by DEPOT Live and backed by Welsh fans who know how to party proper.
🍻 WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
Let’s paint the scene:
☀️ The sun’s out (miracle).
🎧 The stage is thumping.
🍺 You’ve got a cold pint in one hand, your mate yelling “THIS IS MY SONG!” in the other.
🎤 The band rips into the first chorus and the whole field explodes into a sea of arms, glitter, tears and bucket hats.
Now tell us that ain’t the best night of your summer. We dare you.
And yes – there’ll be food, drinks, merch, toilets (the posh kind, not the Glasto ones), and every single drop of atmosphere you could wish for. It’s going to be lush, and then some.
📅 WHEN’S IT ALL GOING DOWN?
We’ve already got a few dates locked in:
