Vampires. Leather jackets. Big hair. Rock ’n’ roll. And now… the West End?

Grab the garlic, dig out the leather jacket and whatever you do, DON’T INVITE ANY STRANGERS INTO THE HOUSE, because The Lost Boys musical is heading for the UK. 🩸🎸

Yep — the cult 1987 vampire classic has already sunk its teeth into Broadway, and plans are in motion to bring the stage production across the Atlantic.

And frankly, this sounds right up The Riff Report’s blood-soaked alley.

🧛 THE LOST BOYS… AS A MUSICAL?!

Oh yes, butt.

Joel Schumacher’s The Lost Boys remains one of the most gloriously ’80s vampire films ever committed to celluloid.

Released in 1987, it followed brothers Michael and Sam Emerson as they moved with their mum Lucy to the seemingly sleepy Californian town of Santa Carla.

Unfortunately, Santa Carla had a slight problem.

Vampires.

Lots of them.

Led by the ridiculously cool David — played in the film by Kiefer Sutherland — the gang quickly dragged Michael into a world of motorcycles, nighttime parties, blood drinking and questionable lifestyle decisions.

Luckily, vampire-hunting legends Edgar and Alan Frog were on hand to help.

The movie became a cult phenomenon thanks to its mixture of horror, comedy, teenage rebellion and a soundtrack absolutely dripping in late-’80s atmosphere.

And let’s be honest.

That saxophone player.

🎷🔥

If you know, you know.

🎭 FROM SANTA CARLA TO BROADWAY

Decades after the film first appeared, The Lost Boys finally received the full musical treatment.

The stage adaptation features music and lyrics from The Rescues and a book by David Hornsby and Chris Hoch, transforming the vampire story into a full-blown theatrical rock production.

Following development and previews, The Lost Boys opened at Broadway’s Palace Theatre in New York in April 2026.

And it certainly didn’t sneak quietly into town.

The production picked up 12 Tony Award nominations, ultimately taking home four awards, including recognition for its performances and spectacular technical design.

Which makes sense.

If you’re turning The Lost Boys into a musical, subtle probably isn’t the objective.

We want lights.

We want guitars.

We want smoke.

We want vampires flying around the bloody theatre.

And yes…

WE WANT THE SAXOPHONE. 🎷

🇬🇧 SO… IS THE LOST BOYS MUSICAL COMING TO THE UK?

This is where things get properly exciting.

Producer and actor Patrick Wilson has confirmed plans to bring the production to the UK.

Speaking in 2026 about the future of the show, Wilson indicated that The Lost Boys will cross the Atlantic, opening the door for a British production.

At the time of writing, however, some important details remain under wraps.

There is currently no officially announced UK theatre, opening date or ticket-sale date.

But naturally, attention immediately turns towards one place.

🎭 THE WEST END.

London would seem the obvious home for the show’s UK debut, particularly after its Broadway run.

Several London theatre and ticket outlets have already begun talking about the musical’s expected arrival, adding even more fuel to the vampire bonfire.

Until the producers officially announce a venue and dates, though, we’re keeping the garlic nearby and waiting patiently.

Well…

Impatiently.

Very impatiently.

🎸 THIS COULD BE THE ROCK MUSICAL WE NEED

There are musicals.

And then there are musicals where leather-clad vampires ride motorcycles around California while everyone looks like they’ve just escaped from an MTV video.

We’re choosing option two.

The Lost Boys has always had rock ’n’ roll running through its veins.

The original film’s soundtrack included the unforgettable “Cry Little Sister” by Gerard McMann, alongside tracks from INXS, Jimmy Barnes, Echo & The Bunnymen and Roger Daltrey.

Its aesthetic was practically designed for the rock crowd.

Leather.

Motorcycles.

Neon.

Big hair.

Vampires.

Ridiculous amounts of smoke.

Basically, chuck a Marshall stack somewhere in Santa Carla and you’ve got a metal festival.

🩸 THE ORIGINAL FILM REMAINS A CULT CLASSIC

Nearly four decades after its original release, The Lost Boys remains enormously loved.

Kiefer Sutherland’s David became one of cinema’s coolest vampires, while Corey Haim and Corey Feldman helped turn the film into an essential slice of ’80s pop culture.

And unlike some films from the era, The Lost Boys still feels like a gigantic party.

It’s horror without becoming relentlessly grim.

It’s funny without turning into complete parody.

And it’s stylish enough to make you briefly consider buying a floor-length leather coat.

Don’t do it.

Unless you’ve got the hair.

Then absolutely do it.

🇬🇧 WHERE COULD IT PLAY?

Until an official announcement arrives, this bit is pure speculation — but the obvious destination is London’s West End.

A production carrying the profile of The Lost Boys would need somewhere capable of handling a sizeable technical show, particularly if the UK version retains the scale of its Broadway counterpart.

Could we eventually see it elsewhere around Britain?

Hopefully.

Because while London would make sense as the starting point, we’d absolutely love to see a future UK tour.

Cardiff, anyone?

Wales deserves vampires too, mun. 🐉🧛‍♂️

Imagine The Lost Boys rolling into the Wales Millennium Centre.

We’ll bring the garlic bread.

Actually…

Greggs.

We’ll bring Greggs.

🎟️ WHEN DO TICKETS GO ON SALE?

Here’s the important bit.

They haven’t yet.

As things currently stand, there is no confirmed UK opening date or official ticket release.

So if you spot random websites promising suspiciously specific dates before an official announcement appears, keep those wallets firmly tucked away.

Once the theatre, dates and booking information are officially revealed, expect interest to be massive.

This is a hugely recognisable movie being transformed into a flashy rock musical with vampires.

People are going to want in.

🧛‍♂️ THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

Do we need a Lost Boys musical in Britain?

ABSOLUTELY.

The crossover between rock culture, horror fans, ’80s nostalgia and musical theatre makes this one particularly interesting.

And if the Broadway spectacle successfully makes the jump to the UK, this could become one of the most entertaining nights in London theatre.

No confirmed venue yet.

No confirmed opening date yet.

No UK tickets yet.

But the vampires are coming.

And when those doors finally open…

We’ll be ready.

Leather jacket?

Check.

Garlic?

Check.

Ridiculous knowledge of The Lost Boys?

CHECK.

🎷 Random urge to play saxophone while covered in baby oil?

Erm…

We’ll leave that one there.

🩸🎸 SLEEP ALL DAY. PARTY ALL NIGHT. NEVER GROW OLD. NEVER DIE.

Welcome back to Santa Carla, butt.
