โYou canโt kill rock and roll. Itโs here to stay.โ โ Ozzy Osbourne
There are moments in rock โnโ roll that leave a scar across the soul. This is one of them. On Wednesday, July 30th, the city of Birmingham will become a cathedral of grief, a temple of tribute, as we say a final, heart-wrenching goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne โ our Prince of Darkness, our madman, our hero.
The legend left us on July 22nd, and weโre still reeling, mun. The worldโs a little quieter, a little duller, and a hell of a lot less metal without him in it. But Birmingham? Birmingham is broken-hearted.
๐ค The Procession of a God Among Men
At 1 p.m., the hearse will begin its solemn journey down Broad Street, flanked by fans, followers, and the sound of sobbing guitars in the air. No velvet ropes. No gates. Just Ozzy and the people โ the way it always was.
Heโll pass the Black Sabbath bench and bridge, which have already been transformed into a sea of candles, letters, vinyl sleeves, and bat plushies. Strangers hugging. Fans crying. Generations united in grief. Only Ozzy could do that. Only Ozzy ever did that.
And then โ silence. A pause. One final breath where the city that gave him to the world, and the world that gave him back to the city, stand still.
๐บ The Sound of Goodbye
But it wonโt be a funeral dirge, cโmon now. Bostinโ Brass, a local brass band, will soundtrack the procession โ a beautiful twist of sorrow and soul, a send-off with spine-shivering power. Maybe theyโll play โMama Iโm Coming Homeโ in tearful harmony. Maybe โIron Manโ will ring through the streets in brass glory. Whatever it is, itโll echo through time.
Because this isnโt just a goodbye. Itโs a celebration of chaos, love, and legacy.
๐ข The End of an Era
The private funeral will follow, away from the crowd, away from the spotlight โ just as Ozzy wouldโve wanted. But the public already had their moment. A moment to weep. To laugh. To sing. To shout:
THANK YOU.
Thank you for every riff.
Every scream.
Every ridiculous, beautiful, batshit moment.
From โMr. Crowleyโ to โCrazy Train,โ you built the soundtrack of rebellion.
And now the ride stops.
But we never get off.
๐ฆ Our Prince, Forever
Ozzy wasnโt perfect. He never pretended to be. Thatโs why we loved him. He was the wildcard in a deck full of pretenders. He was the bat-biting, dove-snapping, reality-show-rockstar who made us laugh, cry, and feel alive. He made metal human. He made pain powerful. He made misfits feel seen.
He crawled from the streets of Aston to the stage at Donington. He changed music, changed lives, changed us. And now the world is a little emptierโฆ but our hearts are full of memories.
๐น The City of Rock Mourns
In Birmingham, thereโs something different in the air. The pubs are playing Sabbath on loop. The tattoo shops have Ozzy designs ready to ink. The record stores have candles lit beside Blizzard of Ozz. Strangers nod at each other, knowingly. This loss? Itโs personal.
Because Ozzy wasnโt just a global icon.
He was ours.
He was the chaos in the quiet.
The thunder on the hill.
The darkness that gave us light.
๐ฏ๏ธ One Last Toast
So light a candle. Play No More Tears. Raise a glass of JD and coke. Cry if you need to. Laugh when you remember the bat. And scream when the solo hits. Thatโs what heโd want.
Ozzy, diolch from the bottom of our riotous hearts.
You showed us how to live louder.
You made being weird cool.
You turned madness into music.
The throne is empty.
The mountain is quiet.
But the Prince of Darkness will reign forever in our ears, our hearts, and our bloody souls.
๐ค Rest In Power, Ozzy.
๐ฆ 1948 โ 2025
Weโll never forget you.
Because legends never die.
They just fade into feedbackโฆ
โฆand leave us screaming for more. ๐ค
