Right then butt, tighten your boots and hide the weak lager, because Misery Goblin are here to drag Irish metal back into the mud, teeth-first, snarling and loving every second of it. This is no polished, posh prog nonsense. This is grit-under-the-fingernails, sweat-on-the-ceiling, goblin-brained heaviness. 😈🤘
If you like your metal loud, ugly, honest, and swinging wildly like a pub brawl at closing time, you’re already halfway in love.
👹 WHO ARE MISERY GOBLIN?
- 🇮🇪 Hailing from: Ireland
- 🔥 Scene: Underground metal chaos
- 🎸 Vibe: Angry, feral, riff-led destruction
Misery Goblin are one of those bands that feel like they crawled out of a damp rehearsal room and immediately started wrecking stages. No frills. No pretence. Just riffs, bile, and attitude.
They’re part of that glorious Irish tradition of bands who sound like they’ve got something to say and absolutely no intention of saying it politely.
THE LINE-UP 🖤⚡
- Daniel Lysaght – Vocals
Delivering vocals soaked in grit, anguish, and atmosphere. Think less polished frontman, more voice-from-the-void. - Luke O’Donovan – Lead Guitar
Slinging slow-burning riffs and bleak melodic runs that feel like they’ve crawled out of the earth itself. - Cillian Calton – Bass
Holding the low end like a tectonic plate shift. Thick, oppressive, and absolutely essential. - Darragh Fitzgibbon – Drums
Bringing the thunder with restraint and precision. Every hit lands heavy, every beat serves the mood.
🔊 THE SOUND: FILTHY, FERAL & FULL OF BITE
This is metal that smells faintly of spilled pints and bad decisions.
Expect:
- 🔥 Chunky, knuckle-dragging riffs
- 🥁 Drums that hit like a boot to the chest
- 🎤 Vocals that sound genuinely furious
- 🩸 Groove-soaked heaviness with hardcore energy
- 👹 A raw edge that refuses to be sanded down
Misery Goblin don’t chase perfection. They chase impact. And they hit it square in the teeth.
🧪 GENRES THEY THRASH THROUGH
Trying to pin these lads down is asking for trouble, but you’ll hear shades of:
- Heavy Metal
- Hardcore-leaning Metal
- Sludge-tinged aggression
- Groove-driven brutality
This is metal made for headbanging, not head-scratching.
🎸 RIFF REPORT HIGHLIGHTS
What makes Misery Goblin stand out isn’t flash, it’s conviction.
- 💥 Riffs that stomp instead of sparkle
- 😤 Vocals full of venom and zero apology
- 🧠 Simple, effective songwriting that knows when to twist the knife
- 🔥 Live-first energy that feels built for small rooms and big reactions
They sound like a band who’d rather blow the roof off a sweaty venue than impress anyone on Instagram.
Respect.

💬 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT
👹 Attitude: Nasty in all the right ways
🔥 Riffs: Thick, ugly, and effective
🥁 Rhythm: Built for movement
🎤 Vocals: Unhinged and honest
🇮🇪 Spirit: Pure Irish underground metal
Misery Goblin aren’t here to clean things up. They’re here to make noise, cause damage, and leave an impression on your ribcage.
If you like your metal raw, loud, and unapologetically rough around the edges, get this band on your radar immediately.
Because sometimes, the best metal isn’t pretty.
Sometimes it’s a goblin kicking your door in and demanding another riff. 👹🔥🤘
