Every Downloader Thinks Their Camp Is The Best… But Who’s Actually Right?
Let’s be honest, butt.
Every single year at Download Festival, thousands of rock and metal fans descend upon Donington Park armed with tents, crates of beer, questionable life choices and enough fancy dress costumes to fill a Hollywood wardrobe department.
And every year, without fail, every camp claims they’re the greatest campsite in the history of festivals.
“The loudest camp is ours.”
“We’ve got the best flag.”
“We’ve got the friendliest neighbours.”
“We’ve got a bloke dressed as Shrek playing the kazoo at 4am.”
Sound familiar?
Well, The Riff Report thinks it’s time to finally settle the argument once and for all.
Welcome to the first-ever…
🏆 THE RIFF REPORT CAMP OF THE YEAR AWARDS 🏆
Because campsites are where the real Download magic happens.
Sure, the bands are amazing.
The pyro is spectacular.
The riffs are earth-shaking.
But some of Download’s greatest stories happen between the tents, around disposable barbecues, underneath gazebos held together by hope and cable ties.
This is your chance to crown the true campsite champions of Download Festival.
🏕️ BEST CAMP
This is the big one.
The headline act.
The overall winner.
Which camp had the best atmosphere, the best people and the most Download spirit?
Whether you’re Team Blue, Team Red, Team Purple or representing a legendary unofficial camp, this is your chance to claim ultimate bragging rights.
🤝 FRIENDLIEST CAMP
We’ve all experienced it.
Forgot your mallet?
Someone lends you one.
Need help pitching a tent?
Three strangers appear from nowhere.
Ran out of beer?
Actually… maybe not that one.
Download is famous for its community spirit, and this award celebrates the camps that make newcomers feel right at home.
🔊 LOUDEST CAMP
The camp that clearly didn’t receive the memo about sleeping.
The camp that was still singing Limp Bizkit at 3am.
The camp that somehow found a Bluetooth speaker louder than a main stage PA system.
You know who you are.
And so do the security team.
🤣 FUNNIEST CAMP
Whether it was fancy dress, campsite pranks, ridiculous banners or someone spending an entire weekend pretending to be Ozzy Osbourne, this category celebrates the camps that kept everyone laughing.
Download without banter would be like Motörhead without Lemmy.
Impossible.
🌪️ MOST CHAOTIC CAMP
Some camps are organised.
Others resemble the aftermath of a small tornado.
This award celebrates pure Download energy.
The camps where absolutely anything could happen.
The camps that made passers-by stop and ask:
“What on earth is going on over there?”
🧹 CLEANEST CAMP
Not all heroes wear capes.
Some carry bin bags.
Download is our home for the weekend and this category celebrates those Downloaders helping to keep Donington tidy.
A massive respect to everyone who leaves no trace behind.
Proper job, butt.
🚩 BEST FLAG
Every year there are flags that make you laugh so hard you nearly spill your pint.
Some are hilarious.
Some are genius.
Some make absolutely no sense whatsoever.
And somehow that’s exactly why they’re brilliant.
Whether it’s a meme, band reference or complete madness, we want to know which flag ruled the skies above Download this year.
⛺ BEST CAMPSITE SETUP
We’re talking:
- Mega gazebos
- Light shows
- Inflatable decorations
- Festival furniture
- Creative camp layouts
- Things that definitely shouldn’t be powered by a car battery
Some Downloaders basically build their own tiny villages.
This is their moment.
📸 SHOW US YOUR CAMP
Got photos?
Got videos?
Got a legendary story involving a traffic cone, inflatable dinosaur and three blokes dressed as pirates?
We want to see it.
Share your campsite setups, your camp flags, your funniest moments and your tales from the Download trenches.
🤘 WHO DESERVES THE CROWN?
Will it be Blue Camp?
Red Camp?
Purple Camp?
Quiet Camp somehow causing the most noise?
Eco Camp proving you can save the planet and party at the same time?
Or one of the many legendary unofficial camps that appear every year and become Download folklore?
The choice is yours.
THE PRIZE?
Absolutely nothing.
No money.
No trophy.
No VIP upgrades.
Just eternal Download glory and the satisfaction of being able to tell every other camp:
“Yeah, we won Camp of the Year, butt.”
And honestly?
That’s priceless.
So get voting, get sharing and let’s find out who really ruled Download Festival this year.
Because every Downloader knows their camp is the best one…
But only one camp can wear the crown. 🏆🏕️🍻🔥
