๐Ÿ—“ Sunday 15th June | โฐ 21:25 โ€” 22:55
๐Ÿ“ Donington Park, UK
๐Ÿค˜ 3000-Word Full Review โ€“ Letโ€™s fkinโ€™ go!** ๐Ÿค˜

๐Ÿงจ INTRO โ€“ A NIGHT FOR THE FREAKS

Sunday night at Download is a moment. After three days of mosh pits, sunburns, tent-related trauma, and one-too-many ยฃ8 pints, you either crawl toward the final headliner or get reborn in the flames of distortion. This year, that final sermon wasnโ€™t from some legacy dad-rock act or chart-friendly alt-hybridโ€ฆ oh no. This was KoRnโ€™s cathedral of chaos.

And mate, they burned it down like the chapel of nu-metal fire gods they are. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

By the time 9pm rolled around, the Apex Stage crowd looked like a zombie horde fuelled by Jรคger and teenage trauma. Everyone from 2000s emos to TikTok-era goth teens were crammed in, black-clad and grinning. KoRn werenโ€™t just about to performโ€”they were about to summon something.

๐ŸŒ˜ PRE-SHOW VIBES: FEELS LIKE SOMETHING’S TAKIN’ ME…

Letโ€™s talk tension. As the sun dipped behind the towers of Donington, the festival hit that eerie twilight buzz: the moment where adrenaline peaks and anything could happen.

Every screen flicker, every sound tech movement sparked screams. Punters were losing their minds over cameramen. Thatโ€™s how electric it was. ๐Ÿ”‹โšก

And when the lights cut and that first atmospheric swell of “Rotting in Vain” came crawling from the abyss?

๐Ÿ’ฅ BOOM. We were IN.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE SETLIST OF NIGHTMARES (AND BANGERS)

1. Rotting in Vain

KoRn donโ€™t mess around with warm-ups. They chokehold you immediately. This track hit hard out the gate. The sludgy groove dragged us into their dungeon of dread with zero warning. Jonathan Davisโ€™ tortured wail punched through the night like a razor.

2. Here to Stay

The whole field erupted. A wall of low-end crunch shook the very ground. The chorus chant of โ€œI am just a worthless liar!โ€ became a tribal scream for thousands. That riff? Absolutely filthy. ๐Ÿ’€

3. Falling Away From Me

Pure catharsis. Every voice screaming โ€œbeating me downโ€ was either reliving their angsty teenage years or discovering their new therapy anthem. The lighting melted from violet to crimsonโ€”a beautiful goth apocalypse. ๐Ÿฉธ

4. Start the Healing

One of the newer cuts, but it held its ground. Davis stalked the stage like a demon in mourning, and the minimalist visuals made the emotional punch land even harder.

5. Clown

Oof. Absolute chaos. The crowd turned feral. Pits opened so wide you couldโ€™ve driven a tour bus through them. When Davis snarled โ€œHit me clown!โ€ the entire front 50 rows obliged. This was Download brutality at its finest. ๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿงฑ

6. Shoots and Ladders (with Metallica’s “One” tease)

A haunting bagpipe intro silenced the crowd. Jonathan emerged like a Celtic banshee, blowing into the pipes as if summoning ancient ghosts. As the pipes faded into the songโ€™s twisted nursery rhymes, he suddenly broke into the intro riff of โ€œOneโ€ by Metallicaโ€”cue metalheads screaming like theyโ€™d just seen a ghost. Absolutely spine-chilling. ๐Ÿชˆ๐Ÿ‘ป

7. Coming Undone / We Will Rock You (tease)

A genius mashup. The slow, stomping rhythm of โ€œComing Undoneโ€ already hits like a sledgehammer, but when the band cheekily transitioned into a crowd-wide โ€œWE WILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU!โ€ stomp? Bedlam. KoRn turned Queen into a mosh-ready breakdown. Only at Download. Only KoRn. ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ‘‘

8. Yโ€™all Want a Single

“F**K THAT!” โ€” 100,000 metalheads, screaming in unison. Do we want a single? No. Do we want a reason to shout obscenities into the sky? Always. Cathartic doesnโ€™t cover it. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

9. Somebody Someone

One of KoRnโ€™s most underrated tracks, and it landed perfectly. Hypnotic groove, syncopated rage, and a feeling like youโ€™re spiraling into a black hole of bass. A sonic punch to the soul.

10. Did My Time

This one slapped. Ray Luzierโ€™s drumming was next levelโ€”tight, precise, punishing. Davis was frothing at the mic, unleashing those guttural lines with the venom of a man still exorcising 20-year-old demons. ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿฅ

11. Twist / Divine

Alright, this was when things went loony. Davisโ€™ demonic scat-vocal on โ€œTwistโ€ is pure chaos energy, and mashed into the seething aggression of โ€œDivine,โ€ it was like being punched in the ears by the Devil himself. โœจ๐Ÿ˜ˆโœจ

12. No Oneโ€™s There (Snippet)

A rare, eerie moment of calm. A haunting bridge that gave just enough breathing room before the hammer fell againโ€ฆ

13. Freak on a Leash

You knew it was coming. You felt it coming. But nothing prepares you for that moment where Jonathan screams the “GOOOO!” and the whole field becomes a blur of flailing limbs and hair. Pure nu-metal perfection. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿถ

ENCORE: Blind

Lights drop. Silence. Then that fateful bass line.
โ€œAreโ€ฆ youโ€ฆ ready?!โ€

Mate, we were born ready.

The drop hit with the weight of a collapsing cathedral. People screamed. People sobbed. Someone launched a prosthetic leg into the air (true storyโ€”saw it with my own eyes). It was bedlam, and the best possible way to say goodbye.

๐ŸŽค BAND PERFORMANCE โ€“ NU-METAL MAJESTY

Jonathan Davis โ€“ Frontman or Demon Host?

Thereโ€™s something unholy about the way Jonathan commands a stage. Every movement, every snarl, every unhinged whisperโ€”itโ€™s theatre, pain, and raw power rolled into one dreadlocked sorcerer. And the bagpipes?! Only he could make medieval wind instruments feel like a war horn of doom. ๐Ÿชˆ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

Munky & Head โ€“ The Twin Towers of Riff

These lads were locked in like twin engines of the apocalypse. The tone? Dirtier than a Glasto portaloo. The synchronization? Laser-tight. When they bounced those jagged riffs between each other, it felt like being crushed between two chugging trains. ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿš‚

Ray Luzier โ€“ The Unsung Machine

Not enough people shout about Ray. The lad is an animal. Thunderous fills, slick cymbal work, and double-kick precision that could start an earthquake. His playing on โ€œDid My Timeโ€ and โ€œTwistโ€ in particular had the crowd howling. Proper job, butt. ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽญ CROWD REACTIONS โ€“ FULL-BODY CHAOS

Download 2025 had seen its share of madness alreadyโ€”mudslides, impromptu Slipknot karaoke, someone dressed as a traffic cone climbing the main towerโ€”but KoRnโ€™s set turned the field into a seething mass of fists, tears, and catharsis.

Every song had pits, but โ€œClownโ€ and โ€œBlindโ€? Landslides of bodies. One lad near the barrier had lost a shoe and didnโ€™t care. Another fan was sobbing with joy during โ€œFreak on a Leash.โ€ It wasnโ€™t just a gigโ€”it was group therapy by way of absolute sonic battering. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿง

๐ŸงŸโ€โ™‚๏ธ A CULTURAL RESURRECTION

Letโ€™s not forget what KoRn represents. These arenโ€™t just legacy acts rolling out the hits for a paycheque. KoRn are survivors, trailblazers, and nowโ€”elder statesmen of a genre that was once mocked, now worshipped.

At Download 2025, they didnโ€™t play it safe. They dug deep, blending classics with newer burners and flexing their staying power. The fact that 20-year-olds and 40-year-olds alike were side-by-side, screaming lyrics, is proof that KoRn havenโ€™t just lastedโ€ฆ theyโ€™ve evolved.

๐ŸŽฌ MOMENTS THATโ€™LL STAY WITH US

  • The bagpipes silhouette moment during โ€œShoots and Laddersโ€? Goosebumps.
  • The โ€œWe Will Rock Youโ€ crowd chant? Festival-defining.
  • Crowd-surfing unicorn inflatable that made it from the back to the pit during โ€œBlindโ€? Absolute scenes.
  • A marriage proposal mid-โ€œFalling Away From Meโ€? (She said yes. Then they crowd-surfed together. Legend behaviour.)

๐ŸŽฏ FINAL VERDICT โ€“ NU-METAL STILL RULES THE NIGHT

KoRnโ€™s headline set at Download 2025 was a masterclass in how to burn a field of souls alive with groove, rage, and weird wind instruments. It was chaotic, cathartic, and beautifully absurd.

They didnโ€™t just survive the nu-metal eraโ€”they transcended it. And here, under a blood-red Donington sky, they reigned supreme once again.

๐Ÿ–ค In Summary:

KoRn didnโ€™t just headline Downloadโ€”they buried it in breakdowns and exorcised our collective trauma.

Nu-metal isnโ€™t dead. It just learned to play the bagpipes.
