There are albums that politely knock on the door, wipe their boots and wait to be invited inside.
Then there are albums that boot the bloody thing off its hinges and throw a breakdown through your living room.
Dayspring, the forthcoming debut full-length from The Light Superior, sounds very much like the latter. 🤘🔥
Arriving through Rottweiler Records on 2 October 2026, Dayspring represents the culmination of years of graft, line-up evolution, relentless live performances and a steady stream of increasingly impressive releases.
And judging by what’s coming, the waiting has been worth it.
This isn’t merely The Light Superior dipping their toes into the full-length album waters.
They’re jumping in headfirst wearing steel-toecap boots.
🔥 FROM AMARILLO WITH RIFFS
The story begins in Amarillo, Texas, in 2018, where The Light Superior started establishing themselves as a seriously formidable live outfit.
It didn’t take long before they were sharing stages with some hefty names from the modern heavy scene, including We Came As Romans, Of Mice & Men and The Browning.
Not exactly a gentle introduction to life in a band, is it?
But those early shows helped sharpen The Light Superior into the unit they are today.
Their growing reputation eventually caught the attention of Rottweiler Records, who released the band’s fiery I AM EP in 2022.
That was only the beginning.
🌊 BUILDING TOWARDS DAYSPRING
In 2024, The Light Superior dropped the excellent ‘Tidal Wave’, offering another glimpse at the band’s ability to balance punishing metalcore aggression with melody.
Then came 2025.
Following important changes within the line-up, The Light Superior returned with two further singles: ‘Dark Moon’ and Halloween release ‘Ghost’.
Both tracks demonstrated a band becoming increasingly comfortable with its identity.
Heavy?
Oh yes.
Melodic?
Absolutely.
Capable of flattening a festival pit quicker than somebody shouting “FREE BEER AT THE BAR”?
Very probably. 🍺😂
Those releases steadily increased anticipation for a proper debut album.
Now it’s finally arriving.
And its name is Dayspring.
🌅 ‘GENESIS’ – THE CALM BEFORE THE RIFF STORM
Rather appropriately, the record begins with ‘Genesis’.
Instead of immediately smashing the listener around the chops, The Light Superior allow the atmosphere to build.
The tension grows.
The power gathers.
You’ve got just enough time to wonder what’s coming.
Then…
WHAM.
The full weight of The Light Superior lands.
Huge guitars crash into colossal drums while Michael Grice’s vocals tear across the mix.
That gradual opening makes the eventual impact feel absolutely enormous.
Consider ‘Genesis’ your warning siren.
After that, you’re on your own, butt. 🤘
👻 ‘GHOST’ STILL HITS LIKE A TRUCK
Previously released single ‘Ghost’ earns its place on the album and sounds completely at home within the wider Dayspring experience.
It combines sheer force with melodic emotion, demonstrating one of The Light Superior’s biggest strengths.
They’re not interested in heaviness simply for heaviness’ sake.
There’s genuine feeling underneath the distortion.
That’s important because the best metalcore has always understood that emotion makes aggression hit harder.
A breakdown might make your neck hurt.
A breakdown attached to something you actually feel?
That’s when things become special.
🌑 ‘DARK MOON’ SHINES AGAIN
The same applies to ‘Dark Moon’.
Another previously released favourite, it still carries serious weight and arguably sounds even stronger when placed within the context of the complete album.
There’s aggression, melody and atmosphere fighting for space throughout.
Rather than cancelling each other out, those different elements make the song feel bigger.
And we’re nowhere near finished yet.
🔥 ‘DAYSPRING’ BRINGS IN GLENN GIZZI
The title track brings another interesting ingredient into proceedings.
Producer Glenn Gizzi, a founding member of Phinehas, contributes guest lead guitar work to ‘Dayspring’.
And that’s a pretty tasty addition.
Gizzi clearly understands the world The Light Superior inhabit, and that relationship extends far beyond a cheeky guest guitar appearance.
His production work helps give Dayspring its huge sonic identity.
Everything feels rich and powerful without becoming an indistinguishable wall of noise.
The guitars bite.
The drums punch.
The vocals command attention.
Most importantly, when the album wants to hit hard…
it hits REALLY hard.
❤️ ‘SOLID GROUND’ GOES STRAIGHT FOR THE CHEST
Then there’s ‘Solid Ground’.
This is where the emotional weight of Dayspring really begins digging its claws in.
It’s devastatingly heavy but carries an emotional punch that prevents it from simply becoming another exercise in breakdown worship.
The Light Superior understand contrast.
Brutality becomes more effective when there’s vulnerability sitting alongside it.
Melody becomes more powerful when you’ve just been battered by a massive riff.
Dayspring repeatedly plays with those dynamics.
And ‘Solid Ground’ is a particularly strong example.
🥁 ‘REVELATION’ – SEE YOU IN THE PIT
Someone secure the drinks.
Tie your shoelaces.
Check your glasses aren’t going flying.
Because ‘Revelation’ is calling.
This one feels tailor-made for the pit, driven by particularly impressive drumming from Giovanni Alvarez-Jimenez.
There’s a physicality to it.
You don’t simply listen.
You react.
Head starts moving.
Foot starts tapping.
Next thing you know you’ve knocked your coffee over pretending the kitchen is Download Festival.

‘Revelation’ provides another enormous burst of aggression before the album pulls off one final surprise.
And it’s arguably one of the record’s smartest moves.
🌑 ‘DARK MOON REIMAGINED’ CHANGES EVERYTHING
After delivering enough metallic punishment to rearrange your furniture, The Light Superior step away from the distortion and close Dayspring with something completely different.
‘Dark Moon Reimagined (feat. Drive Thru Society)’ transforms the familiar track into something quieter, more intimate and emotionally absorbing.
There’s no desperate urge to throw another massive breakdown into the final thirty seconds.
No need for one last explosion.
Instead, the band trust the song.
And it works beautifully.
The restraint becomes its own kind of heaviness.
After everything that’s come before it, the reimagined ‘Dark Moon’ feels almost cinematic — the smoke clearing after the battle.
It’s a bold way to finish a debut record.
More importantly, it’s memorable.
🎚️ GLENN GIZZI GIVES DAYSPRING SOME SERIOUS MUSCLE
Production can make or break modern metalcore.
With so many layers competing for attention — massive guitars, bass, drums, screaming vocals, clean melodies and atmospheric elements — things can very quickly become overcrowded.
Thankfully, Glenn Gizzi appears to know exactly what The Light Superior require.
His connection with the band allows Dayspring to sound rich, rounded and absolutely enormous without stripping away its emotional core.
There’s clarity beneath the chaos.
And when those riffs arrive?
Ohhhhhhh yes.
They’ve got teeth. 😈

And crucially, there’s heart underneath all that heaviness.
Fans of Bury Tomorrow, Miss May I, Atreyu and It Dies Today should absolutely have The Light Superior on their radar.
The foundations have been laid since 2018.
