📅 Release Date: October 2026
💿 Album: Temporal(e)
🏷️ Record Label: Diotima Records
🎵 New Single: Black Tones
🎸 Genre: Garage Rock / Alternative Rock / Indie Rock
🇮🇹 Country: Italy

Heartbreak, psychological warfare, emotional destruction and some seriously raw garage rock — Italian duo DOLI’S have returned with their ambitious new album, Temporal(e), and they’re not holding anything back!

Released through Diotima Records, the 14-track concept album takes listeners on an emotionally charged journey through the aftermath of a relationship breakdown, exploring everything from anger and frustration to sadness, jealousy and the struggle to rediscover a lost identity.

Arriving alongside the album is the band’s latest single, “Black Tones”, accompanied by an official lyric video that brings one of the record’s most intense psychological moments into focus.

And there’s another surprise waiting inside this release.

The album features internationally acclaimed operatic soprano and actress Mariam Battistelli on eight tracks, bringing an unexpected classical dimension to the duo’s raw alternative-rock sound.

Garage rock meets opera?

Now that’s an interesting combination! 🤘🔥

💿 ‘Temporal(e)’ – A Concept Album Built Around Heartbreak

Forget your typical collection of unrelated rock songs.

Temporal(e) is designed as one continuous emotional experience, with 14 interconnected tracks telling a story that begins where DOLI’S’ debut EP, Room 13, left off.

Each song flows into the next through carefully connected introductions and outros, creating a musical journey rather than a conventional track-by-track listening experience.

At the centre of the story is a male protagonist attempting to rebuild his life following the collapse of an important relationship.

But this isn’t simply another album about somebody getting dumped.

The story explores the psychological damage left behind when someone has invested their entire identity into another person.

The protagonist finds himself battling conflicting emotions, destructive habits, painful memories and the lingering influence of his former partner.

Throughout the album, listeners encounter feelings of:

  • Anger: The explosive frustration that follows emotional betrayal.
  • Sadness: The emptiness left behind when an important relationship ends.
  • Jealousy: The destructive comparisons and insecurities that can follow separation.
  • Disbelief: The difficulty of accepting that a relationship has truly finished.
  • Confusion: The struggle to understand what happened and how to move forward.
  • Loss of identity: The realisation that the protagonist no longer knows who he is without the relationship.

Rather than presenting these emotions as separate experiences, DOLI’S weave them together into a single unfolding narrative.

And the story doesn’t finish neatly.

Instead, Temporal(e) concludes with an open ending, deliberately setting up the next chapter of the band’s musical journey.

This isn’t just an album. It’s a story that hasn’t finished being told.

🖤 ‘Black Tones’ – When Everything Finally Breaks

Leading the album’s release is “Black Tones”, the second focus single from Temporal(e).

The song captures one of the most psychologically intense moments in the album’s storyline.

After enduring relentless emotional manipulation and conflicting thoughts, the protagonist reaches breaking point.

His sense of identity has been stripped away.

His thoughts have become increasingly contradictory.

And the psychological pressure is pushing him towards the edge.

But there’s also a turning point.

For the first time, he is forced to confront the reality of his situation rather than continue living inside the emotional chaos.

Musically, “Black Tones” translates that internal struggle into sharp, tense and visceral garage rock.

The song’s raw approach reflects the frustration and desperation at the heart of the story.

There’s no attempt to dress everything up in polished perfection.

This is music intended to feel uncomfortable, immediate and emotionally exposed.

And that’s exactly where garage rock can be at its most powerful.

🎤 Mariam Battistelli Brings Opera Into The Garage

One of the most fascinating elements of Temporal(e) is the involvement of Mariam Battistelli.

The internationally acclaimed operatic soprano and actress appears on eight tracks across the album.

It’s an unusual collaboration on paper.

Garage rock is generally associated with raw guitars, rough edges, spontaneous energy and a deliberately unpolished sound.

Opera, meanwhile, is built around powerful vocal technique, dramatic expression and carefully controlled musical arrangements.

Combining the two creates an intriguing contrast.

Battistelli’s involvement adds another vocal dimension to the record, potentially allowing the emotional conflict at the centre of the storyline to take on an entirely different character.

And considering that the protagonist is haunted by the recurring voice of his former partner, the use of an additional vocal presence feels particularly appropriate to the album’s concept.

It’s an ambitious creative decision.

And it’s one that helps distinguish Temporal(e) from a straightforward garage-rock release.

🎸 ‘My Crimes’ – The First Taste Of The Album

Before the arrival of “Black Tones”, DOLI’S introduced the album with their first single, “My Crimes”.

The track forms part of the record’s wider exploration of emotional conflict, destructive behaviour and the consequences of a broken relationship.

Within the album’s narrative, “My Crimes” sits towards the end of the main storyline, appearing immediately before “Outro”.

Its position gives the song an important role in the journey towards the record’s unresolved conclusion.

The band also released an official video for the track.

💿 DOLI’S – ‘Temporal(e)’ Full Tracklist

The new album contains 14 tracks, including four songs originally associated with the band’s debut EP, Room 13.

  1. Intro
  2. Under My Reign
  3. Black Tones
  4. Thunderstorms
  5. Shadows Of Disregard
  6. Fomalhaut
  7. My Crown
  8. Dread Shores
  9. My Crimes
  10. Outro
  11. Psycho Killer (From Room 13)
  12. Young & Beautiful (From Room 13)
  13. 505 (From Room 13)
  14. Blood Sport (From Room 13)

The opening ten tracks form the central Temporal(e) sequence, while the four additional tracks reconnect listeners with the band’s earlier material.

That connection is particularly significant because the new album continues the story established on Room 13.

Rather than treating their debut EP as a completely separate release, DOLI’S are building a larger musical narrative across their discography.

🇮🇹 Who Are DOLI’S?

Hailing from Italy’s independent music scene, DOLI’S are a garage-rock duo whose identity is built around raw energy, direct songwriting and emotionally driven storytelling.

Their sound draws upon the rougher edges of garage rock while incorporating elements of alternative and indie rock.

Rather than chasing an overly polished commercial sound, the duo embrace a more instinctive approach to music.

Their songs are designed to feel immediate.

Personal.

Sometimes uncomfortable.

And always connected to the emotions driving them.

Following the release of their debut EP, Room 13, DOLI’S began developing a distinctive approach that combined conceptual storytelling with stripped-back rock instrumentation.

With Temporal(e), the duo are taking that approach considerably further.

The result is their most ambitious project to date, expanding both the musical arrangements and the narrative structure of their earlier work.

⚡ Raw Garage Rock With A Bigger Vision

There’s something refreshing about a band refusing to let its genre dictate the limits of its creativity.

Garage rock has always thrived on simplicity.

Plug in.

Turn up.

Make noise.

Get the emotion out.

But DOLI’S are demonstrating that a raw musical foundation doesn’t prevent a band from thinking on a larger scale.

Temporal(e) combines the immediacy of garage rock with the structure of a concept album.

Songs connect.

Themes develop.

Characters struggle.

And the ending deliberately refuses to provide a tidy resolution.

Add the operatic contributions of Mariam Battistelli and the result is a project that attempts to stretch beyond the usual expectations of a two-piece garage-rock outfit.

It’s a bold direction for an independent band.

And it shows a willingness to experiment without abandoning the raw musical identity that brought them this far.

🖤 A Story Without A Happy Ending

One of the most interesting aspects of Temporal(e) is its refusal to provide an easy conclusion.

Breakup albums often follow a familiar journey.

Heartbreak.

Anger.

Acceptance.

Moving on.

Everybody lives happily ever after.

DOLI’S aren’t following that formula.

Their protagonist remains caught between painful memories, emotional manipulation and destructive patterns.

The album explores the difficulty of escaping a relationship psychologically, even after it has ended physically.

And rather than resolving everything during the closing moments, the duo leave the story unfinished.

That decision creates a direct connection to their next release.

In other words, Temporal(e) isn’t necessarily the final chapter.

It’s another stage in a much larger story.

🌍 Italian Independent Rock With Something To Say

Italy has a thriving independent rock scene, and bands such as DOLI’S demonstrate the variety of music emerging beyond the country’s more internationally recognised metal and alternative acts.

What makes this duo particularly interesting is their commitment to storytelling.

Rather than simply delivering a collection of riffs and choruses, they’re using music to explore psychological experiences that many listeners will recognise.

Loss.

Confusion.

Self-doubt.

Emotional dependency.

The struggle to move forward.

These are difficult subjects, but they’re also deeply human.

And sometimes the roughest music provides the most effective way of expressing them.

🎸 The Riff Report Says…

There’s something brilliantly rebellious about a garage-rock duo deciding that simply making a load of noise isn’t quite ambitious enough.

So what do DOLI’S do?

They create a 14-track concept album about psychological collapse following a breakup, connect the songs into one continuous story, bring in an internationally acclaimed operatic soprano for eight tracks and then leave the ending open for a future release.

Because apparently writing a few straightforward rock songs would have been far too easy!

And you know what?

We love the ambition.

The concept behind Temporal(e) is particularly interesting because heartbreak isn’t always the clean, cinematic experience that popular music likes to portray.

Sometimes it’s messy.

Sometimes it’s contradictory.

Sometimes the person you miss is also the person you’re desperately trying to escape.

DOLI’S are exploring those uncomfortable contradictions rather than pretending every breakup ends with somebody dramatically walking into the sunset.

“Black Tones” captures the moment when the emotional pressure finally becomes impossible to ignore.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Mariam Battistelli adds an unexpected dimension to an already ambitious project.

For a two-piece garage-rock outfit, this is a substantial creative undertaking.

And the fact that the album’s story will continue into another release makes it even more intriguing.

If you enjoy independent rock with a raw edge, emotionally charged songwriting and bands prepared to take creative risks, DOLI’S deserve a place on your radar.

The guitars are raw.

The emotions are complicated.

The story is unfinished.

And Temporal(e) is ready to drag listeners straight into the middle of it. 🇮🇹🔥🤘

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
