🏟️ Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – A Massive Setting For U2’s Return
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of Britain’s most technologically advanced sporting and entertainment venues.
Opened in 2019, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 62,850 for football, although concert capacities depend on stage arrangements and event configurations.
Its modern facilities and large-scale concert infrastructure make it a fitting destination for a band renowned for ambitious live productions.
Throughout their career, U2 have repeatedly pushed the boundaries of stadium entertainment.
From the extraordinary staging of the Zoo TV Tour to the enormous claw-shaped production used during the U2 360° Tour, the band have developed a reputation for turning concerts into elaborate audiovisual experiences.
Their more recent residency at Sphere in Las Vegas demonstrated their continued interest in combining music with cutting-edge technology.
And with The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour, U2 are preparing another major chapter in their live history.
🎸 Wolf Alice Join U2 For All Three London Shows
Adding even more excitement to the announcement, British alternative rock band Wolf Alice will support U2 throughout the London residency.
Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Ellie Rowsell, Wolf Alice have become one of Britain’s most respected contemporary rock bands.
Their music combines alternative rock, dream pop, shoegaze, grunge and emotionally charged songwriting.
The band first attracted widespread attention with their debut album My Love Is Cool in 2015.
Their second album, Visions Of A Life, won the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2018.
They followed that success with Blue Weekend in 2021, a record that further established their reputation for adventurous songwriting and powerful live performances.
With songs including ‘Bros’, ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’, ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’ and ‘The Last Man On Earth’, Wolf Alice have built an impressive catalogue.
And joining U2 for three enormous London concerts represents another major opportunity for the band.
💿 U2 Prepare To Release Their New Album ‘Carnaval De Luz’
The tour supports U2’s forthcoming sixteenth studio album, Carnaval De Luz, scheduled for release on Friday 13 November 2026.
The album represents the band’s latest studio chapter and follows their long history of combining ambitious songwriting with international touring.
Among the new material is the single ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’, which shares its name with the upcoming world tour.
The track was co-written by Bono and Brian Eno, continuing a creative relationship that has played an important role in U2’s musical evolution.
Eno previously worked with the band on influential albums including The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby.
His atmospheric production techniques helped shape some of U2’s most celebrated recordings.
The forthcoming album will provide new material for the band to introduce during their 2027 performances.
🎤 U2 – Five Decades Of Stadium Rock History
Formed in Dublin in 1976, U2 have become one of the most successful and influential rock bands of their generation.
Their classic line-up consists of:
- Bono – lead vocals
- The Edge – guitar, keyboards and backing vocals
- Adam Clayton – bass guitar
- Larry Mullen Jr. – drums
Over five decades, the band have created some of rock music’s most recognisable songs.
Their breakthrough records, including War and The Unforgettable Fire, helped establish them as a major international force during the 1980s.
But it was The Joshua Tree in 1987 that propelled U2 to even greater global success.
Featuring ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’, ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ and ‘With Or Without You’, the album became one of the defining rock releases of the decade.
In 1991, Achtung Baby demonstrated the band’s willingness to reinvent themselves.
The record embraced alternative rock, electronic influences and a darker musical atmosphere.
Songs including ‘One’, ‘The Fly’ and ‘Mysterious Ways’ helped introduce U2 to another generation.
And throughout the decades that followed, the band continued experimenting with new sounds and increasingly ambitious live productions.

🌍 The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour Goes Global
The three London concerts form part of a much larger international touring schedule.
U2 will begin their 2027 performances in Latin America before heading to Europe.
The announced itinerary includes major stadium concerts in Mexico City, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Stockholm, Paris, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Berlin and Milan.
Additional concerts have also been announced for Spain, while further international dates are expected.
The tour represents another enormous undertaking for a band whose live performances have regularly attracted audiences across the world.
And with demand already prompting additional shows, the 2027 tour is generating considerable excitement.
🐉 What About A Welsh U2 Concert?
Right then, Bono.
THREE NIGHTS IN LONDON, BUT WHAT ABOUT CARDIFF? 🐉🎸
Here at The Riff Report, we’re always delighted to see major rock bands announcing British concerts.
But we’d certainly love to see U2 bring their spectacular live production back to Wales.
Cardiff’s Principality Stadium has hosted numerous major international artists and would provide an impressive setting for a U2 performance.
And with a passionate Welsh rock audience, we’re confident there would be plenty of interest.
For now, however, London remains the band’s only announced UK destination.
Welsh fans hoping to attend will need to plan a trip across the border.
The additional Tuesday concert provides another option for anyone unable to secure tickets for the original weekend performances.
Come on, Bono. Three nights in London is lovely, but Cymru knows how to sing along too! 🐉🤘
