There are bands that play metal.

There are bands that experiment with metal.

And then there’s Zivanished — a band who looked at thrash, hardcore, punk, Middle Eastern music, Cypriot culture, bouzouki, belly dancers, fire dancers and gloriously questionable humour and apparently thought:

“Yeah mun, chuck the bloody lot in.”

And somehow, it works. 😂🔥

Born from the Cypriot underground and proudly refusing to sand down any of their cultural edges, Zivanished have spent years developing something they simply call “Cypriot Metal”.

Not metal from Cyprus.

Cypriot Metal.

There’s a difference, butt.

And once you start digging into this lot, that difference becomes very obvious indeed.

🇨🇾 IT STARTED WITH TWO BROTHERS AND ONE VERY LOUD IDEA

The Zivanished story begins with brothers Louis Syrimis on guitar and vocals and Constantinos Syrimis behind the drums.

The pair shared a vision of creating extreme music that genuinely represented where they came from — using their own language, culture, humour and musical influences rather than simply copying what was happening elsewhere in the metal world.

That idea became what the brothers called Cypriot Metal.

Louis began putting that vision onto tape with “Sto Horkon” in 2009, followed by “Kafkas” in 2011.

When Kafkas found its way onto YouTube, things started moving.

The track quickly attracted attention and helped lead to Zivanished’s first live performance in 2011.

And once you’ve released the beast onto a stage, there’s no putting it back in its cage.

🔥 ZIVANISHED TAKES SHAPE

Like many underground bands, the early years came with various line-up changes as Zivanished figured out exactly what the project needed to become.

By 2015, the pieces finally clicked into place with the addition of Miguel Trapezaris, completing the trio alongside Louis and Constantinos.

The current line-up is:

Louis Syrimis — Guitar / Vocals
Constantinos Syrimis — Drums
Miguel Trapezaris — Bass

All three musicians are also active in Infected Syren, and their involvement in Cyprus’ metal scene stretches all the way back to the late 1990s.

So we’re not talking about three blokes who discovered distortion pedals last Tuesday.

These lads have put the graft in.

🎸 SO WHAT THE HELL IS “CYPRIOT METAL”?

Good question.

Because trying to shove Zivanished neatly into one genre box is probably going to result in the box catching fire.

At the heart of their sound you’ll find thrash, hardcore and punk, all smashed together with Greek and Middle Eastern influences.

Expect aggressive riffs.

Expect shouting.

Expect growling.

Expect speed.

Expect things to get weird.

And yes…

Sometimes there’s a bloody bouzouki.

Now we’re cooking. 😂🤘

The bouzouki and regional musical influences aren’t thrown in as some novelty gimmick either. They’re part of the band’s identity and their determination to create extreme music that actually sounds connected to Cyprus.

Perhaps the biggest part of that identity is the language.

Zivanished write their lyrics entirely in the Cypriot dialect.

That immediately gives the band a character you simply aren’t going to find among another thousand metal groups screaming interchangeable lyrics in English.

Their music comes from where they’re from.

Simple as that.

😈 FAST. EXTREME. UNCOMPROMISING. AND COMPLETELY BONKERS.

The philosophy behind Zivanished has remained wonderfully straightforward.

Create music that’s fast, extreme and uncompromising, while embracing the absurdity, humour and personality of Cypriot culture.

There’s aggression here, absolutely.

But there’s also a willingness to have fun with extreme music.

Metal doesn’t always need to stand in a forest looking miserable while somebody takes a black-and-white promotional photograph.

Sometimes you can have crushing riffs and take the piss.

That’s allowed.

And Zivanished appear more than happy to demonstrate exactly how it’s done.

🍆 100% PURE CYPRIOT… WELL, YOU KNOW

On 29 May 2026, Zivanished unleashed their latest EP:

100% Αγνός Κυπριακός Βίλλος

Translated into English?

100% Pure Cypriot Cock.

Yep.

You read that correctly.

No typo.

No autocorrect malfunction.

No member of The Riff Report editorial department has been drinking before breakfast.

That’s genuinely the title. 😂

And quite frankly, you’ve got to respect the commitment.

The EP continues Zivanished’s tradition of combining heavy music, experimentation and dark humour while pushing their strange little corner of extreme metal even further.

Among its standout moments is:

“Ο Βίλλος μου εν Μιάλος” (O Villos mou en Mialos)

The song represents one of Zivanished’s most experimental and distinctive tracks so far.

Its accompanying music video has also become one of the band’s biggest successes, passing 14,000 YouTube views within its first two months.

For an underground extreme metal band proudly performing in the Cypriot dialect, that’s a cracking response.

🎥 Watch “Ο Βίλλος μου εν Μιάλος” here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG6LZRSAKvk

Prepare accordingly.

We accept no responsibility for whatever happens next.

🔥 BELLY DANCERS, FIRE DANCERS AND ABSOLUTE MAYHEM

Then there are the live shows.

Because apparently just turning up, plugging in and playing ridiculously aggressive music wasn’t enough.

Zivanished’s performances have featured belly dancers and fire dancers, combining theatrical spectacle with the band’s already unpredictable musical identity.

Imagine stumbling into a venue expecting a straightforward metal gig and being greeted by crushing thrash riffs, Cypriot vocals, cultural influences, dancers and actual bloody fire.

Now that’s a Tuesday night.

Their performances are designed to combine intensity with humour and unpredictability, turning Zivanished gigs into something considerably more memorable than simply watching three musicians stare at their fretboards for 45 minutes.

You might get hardcore.

You might get thrash.

You might get bouzouki.

You might get fire.

Basically, don’t nip outside for a cigarette because you’ll probably miss something ridiculous.

🤘 SHARING STAGES WITH SEPTICFLESH AND ASSASSIN

That uncompromising approach has already taken Zivanished onto stages alongside some serious names.

Over the years, the band have shared bills with internationally recognised acts including Septicflesh and Assassin, while also building their own reputation through headline performances in Cyprus.

They’ve also taken their particular flavour of Cypriot chaos beyond the island with a performance in Athens, Greece.

And that’s where the next part of the story gets interesting.

Because Zivanished clearly aren’t interested in keeping Cypriot Metal confined to Cyprus.

🎛️ DIY FROM THE GROUND UP

There’s another element of the Zivanished story we bloody love here at The Riff Report:

They do things themselves.

The band’s recording and production is handled through Louis’ own studio, Syren Blast, giving Zivanished control over the music they create and the way it’s presented.

That independence fits perfectly with everything else about the band.

When you’re trying to establish your own genre, singing entirely in your own dialect and occasionally introducing a bouzouki into extreme metal, handing over the creative reins probably isn’t high on the agenda.

Zivanished know what Zivanished are supposed to sound like.

And they’re building it themselves.

Proper job. 🤘

💿 TWO EPS, ONE ALBUM AND PLENTY MORE CHAOS TO COME

With two EPs and a debut full-length album already behind them, Zivanished have established the foundations of their wonderfully strange musical universe.

Their material is available across Bandcamp, Spotify, YouTube, iTunes and other major streaming platforms, opening the door for listeners far beyond Cyprus to discover what happens when Mediterranean culture collides head-first with extreme metal.

The next mission is simple:

Take Cypriot Metal beyond Cyprus.

The trio are continuing to write new material while focusing on performing live and introducing more audiences to their distinctive sound.

And frankly?

We want to see what happens when this madness lands in front of a completely unsuspecting festival crowd.

Picture it.

Sunshine.

Pints.

Somebody dressed as a hot dog.

Then suddenly…

BOUZOUKI THRASH.

Beautiful.

🇨🇾🤘 CYPRIOT METAL IS HERE

There’s something refreshing about a band that doesn’t seem particularly interested in fitting neatly into anybody else’s expectations.

Zivanished aren’t trying to disguise where they’re from to make themselves more internationally marketable.

They’re doing precisely the opposite.

They’re taking their language, humour, culture and musical heritage and turning the volume up until the amplifiers start begging for mercy.

That’s what makes the idea of Cypriot Metal interesting.

It’s not simply another genre label slapped onto familiar music.

It’s an identity.

One built from decades spent within the Cypriot underground, a love of extreme music and an apparent refusal to ask the question:

“Is this too ridiculous?”

Because sometimes the best answer is:

“Nah. Add a fire dancer.”

Zivanished are loud.

They’re aggressive.

They’re weird.

They’re proudly Cypriot.

And with 100% Αγνός Κυπριακός Βίλλος now unleashed upon the world, they’re showing absolutely no signs of becoming sensible anytime soon.

Good.

The metal world has enough sensible bands.

Give us the riffs.

Give us the Cypriot dialect.

Give us the bouzouki.

Give us the bloody fire dancers.

🔥🇨🇾🤘

This is Zivanished.

This is Cypriot Metal.

And The Riff Report is absolutely here for the chaos.

🎸 THE RIFF REPORT

Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies.

Found a gloriously weird underground band we need to hear? Give us a shout — because the best riffs aren’t always coming from the biggest stages. 🤘🔥
