July 5, 2025 | Birmingham | 35,000 Fans | 1 Last Riff
“Is this the end, or just the beginning?”
Turns out, for Black Sabbath – the gods of heavy metal and Brum’s loudest export – it was both. “Back to the Beginning” wasn’t just a gig. It was a metal funeral, feast, and family reunion all rolled into one – with more riffs than a Tony Iommi daydream and more tears than an Ozzy farewell hug. 😭🎸
This was it, mun. The final encore. The Brummie blowout. The thunderous curtain call for a band that rewrote music history with a down-tuned guitar and a demonic sneer.
🏟️ THE STAGE WAS SET – VILLA PARK GOES FULL METAL
Birmingham’s Villa Park transformed into a riff-soaked temple, surrounded by 35,000 black-clad pilgrims and one almighty wall of sound. The Back to the Beginning mega-concert wasn’t just about Sabbath – it was a metal Avengers assemble. 🤯⚡
With Ozzy announcing it as his final live appearance, and whispers of a surprise or two backstage, the excitement was hotter than a Glastonbury tent at noon.

🕯️ OZZY’S FINAL BOW – THE MADMAN SAYS GOODBYE
Ozzy’s solo set had fans sobbing and swaying. “Mama, I’m Coming Home” never hit harder. You could feel Brum holding its breath as he whispered “Thank you… I love you all”, then collapsed into a group hug with his Sabbath brothers backstage. 😭🥺
He gave us chaos. He gave us cackles. He gave us 55 years of madness. And now? He gave us closure.
🐉 BLACK SABBATH – ONE LAST CRUSHING CHORD
9:13 PM. The moment. You could hear every heartbeat in the stadium. Then came the toll of the bell… and the opening riff of “Black Sabbath.” Time froze. 🔔🕯️
They played:
- “Black Sabbath” (goosebumps)
- “Children of the Grave”
- “War Pigs” (crowd sang every word)
- “Iron Man” (literal roar)
- “Paranoid” (final track, final eruption)
It wasn’t just nostalgia. It was reverence. It was Brum’s sons coming home and saying: “Diolch and goodnight.”
🎉 THE CROWD, THE ENERGY, THE MADNESS
Never seen so many battle vests, tears, and raised pints in one place. 🤘🍻
Fans came from South America, Japan, even Port Talbot (proper effort that, fair play). It was sweaty, loud, chaotic – and absolutely lush.
One sign in the crowd said it best:
“Thank you for the noise.”
🛠️ WHAT’S NEXT?
This show closed a chapter not just for Black Sabbath – but for metal history.
But as one fan screamed leaving the gates:
“They may be gone… but metal NEVER DIES!”
