Oasis are heading back out on the road in 2027 โ and one date on the newly announced Live โ27 tour already stands out above the rest, with Liam and Noel Gallagher set to play Glasgowโs Celtic Park on the very day Noel turns 60.
Now that is how you celebrate a birthday.
Forget the quiet meal.
Forget the cake from Tesco.
Forget sitting in the garden while relatives hand you cards containing increasingly worrying jokes about getting old.
Noel Gallagher will spend his 60th birthday playing an Oasis stadium show at Celtic Park.
The gig takes place on Saturday 29 May 2027, exactly 60 years after Noel was born on 29 May 1967.
And considering several generations of Oasis fans are likely to be packed inside the Glasgow stadium singing songs Noel wrote back at him?
That could become one seriously emotional night.
๐ Celtic Park Gets Five Nights Of Oasis
The birthday show will be the fifth and final Oasis concert at Celtic Park during the opening stretch of the Live โ27 tour.
Oasis are scheduled to play Glasgow on:
Friday 21 May 2027
Sunday 23 May 2027
Tuesday 25 May 2027
Friday 28 May 2027
Saturday 29 May 2027 โ Noel Gallagherโs 60th Birthday
Five nights.
One stadium.
And approximately twelve billion attempts at singing Donโt Look Back In Anger louder than the person standing beside you.
The Glasgow run also launches Oasisโ wider 2027 touring schedule before the band heads to Manchester and then onwards through mainland Europe, America, Ireland and Knebworth.
๐ธ Noel Gallagher Turning 60 Onstage With Oasis Is Quite The Full-Circle Moment
Thereโs something wonderfully mad about this when you consider where the story started.
Noel Gallagher joined the band that would become Oasis in the early 1990s and quickly became its principal songwriter.
Then came Definitely Maybe.
Then (Whatโs The Story) Morning Glory?
Then millions upon millions of records.
Knebworth.
Stadiums.
Britpop madness.
Arguments.
More arguments.
Some genuinely magnificent interviews.
Then the breakup in 2009.
For years, the idea of Liam and Noel standing together as Oasis again seemed about as likely as somebody successfully getting festival Wi-Fi when the headliner walks on.
Yet here we are.
Not only did Oasis reunite โ theyโre now heading into another major touring year.
And Noelโs 60th happens right in the middle of it.
๐ What A Birthday Setlist This Could Be
Nothing special has been officially announced specifically for the birthday performance, so donโt start ordering the 40-foot inflatable Noel Gallagher cake just yet.
But come on.
Itโs his 60th birthday.
At Celtic Park.
With Oasis.
You just know the atmosphere is going to be ridiculous.
Imagine tens of thousands of people launching into Happy Birthday.
Imagine Liam getting hold of that microphone beforehand.
Actuallyโฆ
Maybe Noel should be slightly worried.
There is absolutely no chance his younger brother lets a 60th birthday pass without saying something.
Weโll bring the popcorn.
๐ถ The Songs Noel Wrote Have Become Generational Anthems
What makes the date particularly fitting is just how many Oasis songs written by Noel have travelled far beyond the era that produced them.
Live Forever.
Supersonic.
Slide Away.
Some Might Say.
Wonderwall.
Champagne Supernova.
The Masterplan.
Donโt Look Back In Anger.
These arenโt simply โ90s songs anymore.
Parents who bought the albums first time around now attend gigs alongside children who discovered Oasis decades later.
Some of those younger fans werenโt even alive when the band originally split.
That kind of cross-generational audience is rare.
And hearing thousands of them singing Noelโs songs back to him on his 60th birthday?
Thatโs going to land differently.
๐๏ธ Celtic Park Should Be Absolutely Bouncing
Glasgow crowds have never exactly been famous for politely observing concerts.
Stick Oasis inside Celtic Park and things are already going to get loud.
Add a Saturday night.
Add Noelโs birthday.
Add the fact itโs the final date of a five-show run.
That combination has absolute scenes written all over it.
There will be pints.
There will be bucket hats.
There will be people hugging complete strangers during Live Forever.
And at least one bloke will definitely attempt to start Wonderwall outside the stadium four hours before doors.
Tradition must be respected.
๐ค Liam Gets To Sing His Brotherโs Songs Back To Him
Thereโs another lovely little element to this.
Noel wrote so many of the songs that defined Oasis.
But Liam Gallagherโs voice gave those songs another identity entirely.
That combination was always the magic.
Noelโs melodies.
Noelโs lyrics.
Liamโs attitude.
Liamโs voice.
The tension between them often caused absolute carnage behind the scenes, but musically it created something difficult to reproduce.
On 29 May 2027, Liam will effectively spend part of his brotherโs birthday singing songs Noel wrote more than three decades earlier.
Donโt expect either Gallagher to become particularly sentimental about it publicly.
But underneath all the swagger?
Thatโs a pretty remarkable thing.
๐ From 2009 Split To A Second Oasis Era
When Oasis ended in 2009, plenty of fans assumed that was it.
Liam continued with Beady Eye before establishing a hugely successful solo career.
Noel launched Noel Gallagherโs High Flying Birds and built a major catalogue away from Oasis.
For years, both brothers seemed perfectly capable of succeeding independently.
That almost made a reunion feel less likely.
Neither particularly needed it.
Then something changed.
The reunion eventually happened, and the response demonstrated just how enormous the appetite for Oasis still was.
Live โ27 now takes the reunited band into another year rather than treating the comeback as one quick victory lap.
That alone makes the Celtic Park birthday show feel significant.
๐ Scotland And Oasis Have Always Been Closely Connected
Scotland also holds an important place in Oasis history.
Long before stadiums and global superstardom, the band famously played King Tutโs Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, the show associated with their discovery by Creation Records boss Alan McGee.
From a small Glasgow club to five nights at Celtic Park.
Not bad.
Then add Noel turning 60 during the final night.
If somebody wrote that storyline for a film, youโd probably tell them to make it slightly less obvious.
Rock โnโ roll enjoys showing off sometimes.
๐ถ๏ธ Will Noel Actually Acknowledge Turning 60?
That might be the funniest question.
Because this is Noel Gallagher.
The man does not exactly give off:
โPlease make a massive fuss over my birthdayโ
energy.
You can easily imagine tens of thousands beginning Happy Birthday while Noel stands there looking vaguely annoyed through a pair of sunglasses.
Which would somehow make the whole thing even better.
Maybe thereโll be a speech.
Maybe Liam will lead the singing.
Maybe absolutely nothing unusual happens and Noel treats it like another night at work.
Any of those scenarios feels believable.
๐ธ Sixty And Still Playing Stadiums
There is also something impressive about the milestone itself.
At 60 years old, Noel Gallagher will still be walking onto a stage with his original band and playing songs written when he was a young musician in Manchester trying to make something happen.
Those songs ended up changing his life completely.
And decades later, theyโre still filling enormous venues.
That is the sort of career longevity most musicians can only dream about.
Whatever your view of Oasis โ and everybody seems to have one โ their ability to remain culturally enormous more than 30 years after Definitely Maybe is undeniable.
๐ค THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT
Of all the Oasis Live โ27 dates, 29 May at Celtic Park already feels special.
Not because a giant birthday spectacle has been promised.
It hasnโt.
But because the circumstances are impossible to ignore.
Noel Gallagher.
60 years old.
Oasis.
Celtic Park.
Saturday night in Glasgow.
That is one hell of a way to enter a new decade.
Forget blowing out sixty candles.
Noel will have tens of thousands of people belting out songs he wrote when he was decades younger.
And if Celtic Park launches into Donโt Look Back In Anger at full volume on his birthday?
Good luck pretending that doesnโt get emotional.
Just one thing, Liamโฆ
Please buy your brother a card before going onstage.
Sixty years old and still chasing the sun.
Happy birthday, Noel. Glasgow is going to be absolutely biblical. ๐๐๐ธ๐ฅ
