We’ll be honest, butt.
For years here at The Riff Report, Limp Bizkit carried a nickname that wasn’t exactly flattering.
“Soggy Bizkit.”
There. We said it.
It became one of those running jokes that followed the band around whenever their name appeared on a festival poster. Sure, they had the classics. Sure, they sold millions of records. But were they still capable of delivering a truly great live show in 2026?
After their Download Festival performance, we have absolutely no problem admitting we were wrong.
Very wrong.
From the moment Fred Durst walked onto that stage, Donington exploded.
The crowd wasn’t just singing along — they were living every single word. Thousands upon thousands of Downloaders bounced, shouted, surfed and completely lost their minds as Limp Bizkit blasted through a set packed with huge riffs, massive grooves and enough nostalgia to power District X for a week.
And somehow it didn’t feel like a nostalgia act.
That’s what surprised us the most.
This wasn’t a band going through the motions. This was a band having the time of their lives while dragging the entire field along with them.
Every song landed.
Every chorus was screamed back.
Every pit opened like someone had pressed a giant red chaos button.
The atmosphere was ridiculous.
One minute people were laughing, the next they were crowd surfing, and then suddenly the entire field was jumping in unison like it was 1999 all over again.
Fred Durst had the crowd in the palm of his hand all night, mixing humour, swagger and pure festival energy.
Meanwhile, Wes Borland looked like he’d escaped from another dimension yet somehow delivered riff after riff with surgical precision.
The whole thing felt larger than life.
One of those Download moments where you stop taking notes, look around and simply enjoy what’s happening.
And that’s exactly what happened to us.
The Riff Report arrived expecting a decent set.
Instead, we witnessed one of the biggest surprises of the entire weekend.
So it’s time to officially retire the nickname.
No more “Soggy Bizkit.”
After Download Festival 2026, Limp Bizkit have earned their flowers.
