Metal Legends Unite For One Of 2026’s Most Exciting New Bands
There are new bands… and then there are bands that arrive looking like they’ve kicked the doors off Valhalla itself with a wall of Marshall stacks behind them.
Welcome to LEX LEGION, butt.
This brand-new heavy metal powerhouse is stacked with enough legendary pedigree to make every old-school metal fan spit their pint across the pub in disbelief. Featuring members tied to King Diamond, Motörhead, Scorpions, Death and Pagan’s Mind, this isn’t some lazy nostalgia side project. This is a full-force heavy metal assault forged by musicians who’ve already helped shape the genre for over four decades.
And judging by their debut single “Sleep Eternally”, they’ve still got plenty of fuel left in the tank. 💀⚡
THE LINE-UP IS ABSOLUTELY BONKERS 🤯
LEX LEGION is built around four-fifths of the classic late-1980s King Diamond line-up:
- Mikkey Dee – Drums
- Pete Blakk – Guitar
- Andy La Rocque – Guitar
- Hal Patino – Bass
And if that wasn’t enough molten steel already, the band recruited the jaw-dropping vocals of:
- Nils K. Rue – Vocals
Honestly, this line-up reads like someone smashed together a dream fantasy metal draft after six cans of Monster and a marathon of Headbangers Ball reruns. 🤘🍺
THE DEBUT ALBUM LANDS JUNE 2026 🔥
The band’s self-titled debut album “Lex Legion” is set for release via MNRK Music Group in June 2026, and from everything we’ve heard so far, it’s shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest traditional heavy metal releases.
But don’t expect some dusty retro tribute album trying desperately to relive 1987.
LEX LEGION sounds fresh. Sharp. Hungry. Dangerous.
The band describe the album as:
“A single-minded, future-facing throwback of world class hard rock and metal.”
Now THAT is how you sell a record to us, mun. 👏
“SLEEP ETERNALLY” HITS LIKE A FIST TO THE FACE 👊💥
The first single “Sleep Eternally” wastes absolutely no time announcing what this band is all about.
Huge riffs. Massive vocals. Thunderous drums. Twin guitar wizardry. Melodic hooks for days.
The track feels like classic heavy metal injected straight into the veins of modern production without losing any grit or soul along the way.
Andy La Rocque described it perfectly:
“Starting out like a fist in your face!”
Too right. The opening seconds alone feel like getting launched through a cathedral window by a leather-clad demon riding a Harley. 🏍️🔥

A 25-YEAR JOURNEY FINALLY COMES TO LIFE ⚔️
What makes this project even more exciting is the fact that LEX LEGION has apparently been brewing behind the scenes for around twenty-five years.
This isn’t some rushed cash-in. This is a passion project built on decades of friendship, touring, songwriting and surviving the madness of the music industry together.
Mikkey Dee explained the mentality behind the band perfectly:
“We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus. If you didn’t like it, that was fine with us, too!”
That’s proper heavy metal spirit right there. No chasing trends. No TikTok dances. No trying to sound like everyone else.
Just riffs. 🤘

RIFF REPORT FINAL VERDICT 🎸
LEX LEGION already feels like one of those bands metal fans are going to become obsessed with very quickly.
There’s a genuine chemistry here that can’t be faked. You can hear decades of experience colliding with excitement, hunger and pure love for heavy metal.
And in a world where too many bands feel manufactured by committee, LEX LEGION sounds gloriously alive.
If the rest of the album hits as hard as “Sleep Eternally,” then June 2026 could end up delivering one of the finest traditional heavy metal albums of the year.
Now excuse us while we go blast this thing at dangerous volume levels and annoy the neighbours. 🔊🔥🤘
