🎸🇩🇪 Get ready to rock like a hurricane, butt! German hard rock legends SCORPIONS are heading to the big screen in 2027 with their long-awaited biographical movie, Wind Of Change. The film will arrive in German cinemas on 28 January 2027 before receiving a North American theatrical release in March, courtesy of distributor Roadside Attractions. And with an impressive cast, legendary rock anthems and an extraordinary story set against the Cold War, this promises to be considerably more than your average music biopic!

From humble beginnings in a divided Germany to international superstardom, the film explores how Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and their bandmates took their music beyond the Iron Curtain, became pioneers of Western hard rock performances in the Soviet Union and created one of the most recognisable peace anthems in music history. And with the real SCORPIONS preparing to return to Britain and Ireland alongside EUROPE in summer 2027, it’s shaping up to be an enormous year for the German rock veterans!

Well, bloody hell, Riff Report crew!

You might want to dig out your leather jackets, turn up the stereo and prepare for a proper journey through rock ‘n’ roll history.

Because one of the world’s most successful hard rock bands is finally getting the big-screen treatment!

SCORPIONS ARE COMING TO CINEMAS! 🤘🔥

Yes, the German legends responsible for Rock You Like A Hurricane, Still Loving You, No One Like You and the unforgettable Wind Of Change are preparing to tell their extraordinary story through a major feature film.

And we’re not talking about another straightforward documentary featuring old interviews and archive footage.

This is a full-scale dramatic biopic.

Actors portraying the musicians.

Recreated concert performances.

Cold War tensions.

A friendship divided by the Berlin Wall.

And an exploration of how a group of young German rockers became international superstars during one of the most politically complicated periods in European history.

The latest development arrived on 4 November 2026, when it was confirmed that American distributor Roadside Attractions had secured the film’s North American theatrical release.

The movie is scheduled to arrive across the United States in March 2027, following its German cinema debut on Thursday 28 January 2027.

And considering how long SCORPIONS have been entertaining audiences around the world, it’s remarkable that their story hasn’t already received this sort of major cinematic treatment.

After all, this is a band whose career stretches back more than six decades.

A group that survived changing musical fashions.

Built an enormous international audience.

Performed behind the Iron Curtain.

And recorded a song that became closely associated with the end of the Cold War.

That’s not just a rock biography, butt. That’s an enormous piece of music history!

🎬 Wind Of Change – Scorpions Movie Officially Heading To American Cinemas!

The latest announcement confirms that Wind Of Change has secured a theatrical distribution agreement for North America.

The movie has been produced by Fox Entertainment Studios and ESX Entertainment, with Roadside Attractions handling its American cinema release.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Germany will distribute the film in the band’s homeland.

That means German audiences will get their first opportunity to watch the story in January, before the film crosses the Atlantic during March.

Although the North American release window has been confirmed, an exact opening day in March has not yet been revealed.

And for British fans, there’s another detail worth noting.

A UK cinema release date has not yet been officially announced.

Hopefully, that will change.

Because considering the enormous popularity SCORPIONS have enjoyed across Britain and Europe, we’d certainly love to see the film receiving a proper UK theatrical release.

And perhaps a few special screenings for rock fans wouldn’t go amiss either!

Imagine watching Rock You Like A Hurricane blasting through an enormous cinema sound system.

You’d probably need to remind half the audience that standing up and headbanging isn’t usually part of the cinema etiquette!

🧱 From Divided Germany To Worldwide Stardom – What Is The Film About?

At the heart of Wind Of Change is a fascinating story about music, ambition and political division.

The film traces SCORPIONS from their formation in 1965, following their development from a young German rock band into an internationally successful group.

But it also explores the world in which they emerged.

Following the Second World War, Germany was divided into two separate states.

West Germany developed under a Western-aligned political and economic system.

East Germany became a socialist state closely aligned with the Soviet Union.

And for decades, the division between Eastern and Western Europe shaped everyday life across the continent.

The Berlin Wall, constructed in 1961, became one of the most recognisable symbols of that division.

Families were separated.

Travel was restricted.

And the movement of people and cultural influences across the border was tightly controlled.

For young musicians growing up in West Germany, that environment provided a complicated backdrop.

They wanted to make music.

Travel.

And establish themselves internationally.

But they were also part of a generation living with the consequences of Europe’s recent history.

That’s the world Wind Of Change intends to explore.

🎸 ‘Our Fathers Brought Tanks, We Bring Guitars’

One of the film’s central ideas is particularly striking.

The story follows young German musicians determined to introduce themselves to the world through rock music rather than the conflicts associated with previous generations.

The band’s ambition to sing in English and succeed internationally forms an important part of the narrative.

And the idea of using music to build connections across borders sits at the centre of the film.

It’s an interesting theme.

Because rock music has often travelled across political and cultural divisions.

Records are shared.

Songs are broadcast.

Musicians influence one another.

And audiences discover artists from countries they’ve never visited.

SCORPIONS became a particularly important example of that process.

Their music reached listeners in both Western and Eastern Europe.

And eventually, the band themselves would perform in the Soviet Union.

At a time when international cultural exchanges were politically significant, those concerts became important moments in the band’s history.

💔 The Film’s Emotional Story – A Friend Trapped Behind The Berlin Wall

One of the movie’s most dramatic storylines involves a character named Andrej.

Played by German actor David Kross, Andrej is portrayed as a close friend of the musicians who becomes trapped on the eastern side of Germany’s political divide.

According to the film’s official synopsis, Andrej is arrested in Soviet-aligned East Germany.

His situation creates a deeply personal dimension to the story.

Rather than presenting the Cold War only through political events and historical developments, the filmmakers explore the effect of division on individual friendships.

And that could provide some of the movie’s most emotional moments.

The central characters are trying to establish a successful rock band.

They want to perform internationally.

Make records.

And prove themselves.

But somebody they care about is living under very different circumstances.

The contrast gives the story an emotional foundation beyond the usual rise-to-fame narrative.

🎬 Is Andrej’s Story Historically Accurate?

Here’s something important to remember.

Wind Of Change is a dramatised biographical film, not a documentary.

The storyline involving Andrej is part of the movie’s narrative, but its exact relationship to independently documented historical events has not been fully established in the available production information.

That means viewers shouldn’t automatically assume every conversation, incident or character relationship happened exactly as depicted.

Music biopics frequently combine historical facts with dramatic reconstruction.

They may simplify events.

Combine characters.

Or adjust timelines to make the story work as a feature film.

And that’s something we’ll be particularly interested in examining when the finished movie arrives.

Because SCORPIONS’ genuine history is already remarkable.

It doesn’t need to be exaggerated to make an interesting film.

🎭 Meet The Cast Of Wind Of Change – Who Plays The Scorpions?

Now then, let’s get into the casting.

Because the filmmakers have assembled an impressive collection of actors to portray the musicians and people who helped shape their careers.<box gap={3}> <row align="start" gap={3}> <AsyncImage query="Alexander Dreymon actor portrait The Last Kingdom" aspectRatio="3:4" maxWidth="116px"/> <box flex="1" gap={1}> **Alexander Dreymon as Rudolf Schenker** Best known for his leading role in *The Last Kingdom*, Dreymon portrays the founding guitarist whose ambition and determination helped establish SCORPIONS. </box> </row> <divider color="subtle"/> <row align="start" gap={3}> <AsyncImage query="Ludwig Trepte German actor portrait" aspectRatio="3:4" maxWidth="116px"/> <box flex="1" gap={1}> **Ludwig Trepte as Klaus Meine** Trepte takes on the role of the band's unmistakable frontman, whose powerful vocals became central to their international success. </box> </row> <divider color="subtle"/> <row align="start" gap={3}> <AsyncImage query="Ed Speleers British actor portrait" aspectRatio="3:4" maxWidth="116px"/> <box flex="1" gap={1}> **Ed Speleers as Matthias Jabs** Known for *Downton Abbey* and *Outlander*, Speleers portrays the lead guitarist who joined SCORPIONS in 1978. </box> </row> <divider color="subtle"/> <row align="start" gap={3}> <AsyncImage query="Luke Brandon Field actor portrait" aspectRatio="3:4" maxWidth="116px"/> <box flex="1" gap={1}> **Luke Brandon Field as Herman Rarebell** Field plays the drummer whose powerful performances helped define some of the band's most successful recordings. </box> </row> <divider color="subtle"/> <row align="start" gap={3}> <AsyncImage query="Dominic West actor portrait The Wire The Crown" aspectRatio="3:4" maxWidth="116px"/> <box flex="1" gap={1}> **Dominic West as Doc McGhee** The acclaimed actor, known for *The Wire* and *The Crown*, portrays the influential music manager associated with SCORPIONS' international rise. </box> </row> <divider color="subtle"/> <row align="start" gap={3}> <AsyncImage query="David Kross German actor portrait The Reader" aspectRatio="3:4" maxWidth="116px"/> <box flex="1" gap={1}> **David Kross as Andrej** Kross plays the friend whose experiences on the eastern side of the Berlin Wall provide a major dramatic thread. </box> </row> </box>

That’s quite an interesting collection of talent.

And one of the biggest challenges will be recreating the appearance and stage presence of musicians who have become instantly recognisable to millions of fans.

Especially Klaus Meine.

Because while actors can learn stage movements and wear convincing costumes, reproducing that unmistakable vocal sound is another matter entirely!

We’ll be particularly interested to see how the musical performances are presented.

🎥 Who Is Directing The Scorpions Biopic?

The film is directed by Alex Ranarivelo, working from a screenplay by Mark Andrews.

Ranarivelo has previously directed feature films including American Wrestler: The Wizard and Born A Champion.

The project has been developed through ESX Entertainment in partnership with Fox Entertainment Studios.

Producers include Ali Afshar, Christina Moore and Daniel Aspromonte.

Filming took place at facilities including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, near London.

And there’s something rather fitting about a movie exploring one of Germany’s greatest rock exports being produced through an international collaboration.

After all, crossing borders is central to the story itself.

The SCORPIONS members have also supported the project, with the production team thanking Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine and Matthias Jabs for trusting them with the band’s history.

🤘 From Hannover To Heavy Metal Royalty – The Extraordinary History Of Scorpions

To appreciate why this film matters, we need to go right back to the beginning.

The story starts in Hannover, West Germany, in 1965.

That’s when guitarist Rudolf Schenker founded the band that would eventually become SCORPIONS.

At the time, the international rock landscape was changing rapidly.

THE BEATLES were transforming popular music.

THE ROLLING STONES were developing their blues-influenced rock sound.

And young musicians across Europe were discovering exciting new possibilities.

Schenker wanted to create a band capable of competing on the international stage.

But the road to success wasn’t straightforward.

There were changes in musical direction.

Different musicians.

And years of hard work before the band established its distinctive identity.

🎤 Klaus Meine Joins The Band

Vocalist Klaus Meine joined SCORPIONS in 1969.

His powerful, distinctive voice would become one of the group’s defining characteristics.

And his partnership with Rudolf Schenker helped establish a creative relationship that would endure across decades.

The band’s debut studio album, Lonesome Crow, arrived in 1972.

It featured a more psychedelic and progressive rock-influenced sound than the music that would later make SCORPIONS internationally famous.

But the foundations were in place.

And during the following decade, the band gradually developed a harder, more melodic musical identity.

🎸 The Uli Jon Roth Years – Scorpions Build Their Reputation!

One of the most fascinating periods in the band’s early history came during the 1970s.

Guitar virtuoso Uli Jon Roth played an important role in developing the group’s sound.

During his time with SCORPIONS, the band released albums including:

  • Fly To The Rainbow (1974)
  • In Trance (1975)
  • Virgin Killer (1976)
  • Taken By Force (1977)

These recordings helped build the band’s reputation among European hard rock fans.

Roth’s expressive guitar playing and interest in musical experimentation brought a distinctive dimension to the group’s sound.

And for dedicated SCORPIONS fans, this early period remains particularly important.

Because before the enormous MTV hits and international arena tours, SCORPIONS were already establishing themselves as a serious hard rock band.

They were refining their songwriting.

Building an audience.

And demonstrating that a German rock group could achieve recognition beyond its home country.

⚡ Matthias Jabs Arrives – Scorpions Prepare To Conquer The World!

A particularly important development occurred in 1978.

That was the year Matthias Jabs joined SCORPIONS.

His arrival helped establish the guitar partnership that would become central to the band’s most commercially successful era.

Alongside Rudolf Schenker, Jabs developed a powerful combination of rhythm and lead guitar playing.

And the band’s sound continued moving towards the melodic hard rock style that would make them international stars.

Albums such as Lovedrive (1979), Animal Magnetism (1980) and Blackout (1982) helped establish their growing reputation.

But their biggest commercial breakthrough was still to come.

🌀 Rock You Like A Hurricane – The Anthem That Conquered America!

Released in 1984, Rock You Like A Hurricane became one of the band’s most famous songs.

Taken from the album Love At First Sting, it captured everything that made SCORPIONS such a powerful hard rock act.

The enormous guitar riff.

Klaus Meine’s distinctive vocals.

The driving rhythm section.

And a chorus practically designed to be shouted by thousands of people.

It’s a song that has become inseparable from 1980s rock culture.

And it helped propel SCORPIONS towards enormous international success.

🎸 Love At First Sting – An Essential Hard Rock Album

The album also featured several other celebrated recordings.

Big City Nights became a fan favourite.

Bad Boys Running Wild showcased the band’s energetic guitar-driven sound.

And Still Loving You demonstrated their extraordinary ability to deliver emotional power ballads.

That combination helped establish SCORPIONS as a band capable of appealing to different audiences.

They could deliver pounding hard rock.

But they could also create melodic songs filled with emotion.

And that versatility became an important part of their identity.

It’s also one of the reasons a Scorpions biopic has such enormous musical potential.

Because the soundtrack could be absolutely magnificent!

🧱 Scorpions Behind The Iron Curtain – When Rock Music Crossed Political Borders

Now, here’s where the band’s story becomes particularly fascinating.

During the Cold War, Western rock music developed an enthusiastic following among listeners in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.

But international touring opportunities were considerably more complicated than they are today.

Political restrictions, state controls and the practical difficulties of arranging performances made concerts by Western rock bands unusual.

Yet SCORPIONS managed to achieve something remarkable.

🇷🇺 1988 – Ten Concerts In Leningrad

In 1988, the band performed ten concerts in Leningrad, now known as Saint Petersburg.

The shows attracted enormous audiences.

According to the band’s own historical account, approximately 350,000 fans attended across the run.

That was a substantial moment for a Western hard rock group performing in the Soviet Union.

And for the musicians themselves, it represented something extraordinary.

They were discovering that their music had already reached people despite the barriers separating different parts of Europe.

Fans knew the songs.

They recognised the band.

And they were desperate to experience the music live.

For SCORPIONS, it helped demonstrate that rock music could create connections across political and cultural boundaries.

And that experience would soon lead to another landmark moment.

🔥 Moscow Music Peace Festival 1989 – The Concert That Helped Inspire Wind Of Change!

In August 1989, SCORPIONS appeared at the legendary Moscow Music Peace Festival.

The event took place at Moscow’s Lenin Stadium and brought together an extraordinary collection of international rock acts.

Among the performers were:

  • SCORPIONS
  • BON JOVI
  • MÖTLEY CRÜE
  • OZZY OSBOURNE
  • SKID ROW
  • CINDERELLA
  • GORKY PARK

Now THAT is a festival line-up, butt!

Imagine travelling to Moscow in 1989 and witnessing some of the biggest names in hard rock performing together.

The enormous guitars.

The giant crowds.

The music.

And the atmosphere surrounding an event taking place during a period of considerable political change.

For SCORPIONS, the experience was particularly meaningful.

They were German musicians performing for an enthusiastic Soviet audience.

And that emotional connection left a lasting impression on Klaus Meine.

🎶 A Song Begins To Take Shape

Following the festival, Meine began developing the ideas that would become Wind Of Change.

The atmosphere in Moscow.

The enthusiasm of the audiences.

And the sense that relations between different parts of Europe were changing.

Those experiences helped inspire the song.

And here’s an important historical detail.

The song was inspired by events before the Berlin Wall fell.

The famous wall opened on 9 November 1989, after the Moscow Music Peace Festival.

That makes the song’s origins particularly fascinating.

Rather than simply looking back at the fall of the Wall, the music emerged from a period when change was already being felt.

And when the song eventually reached audiences around the world, it became closely associated with those historic events.

🌍 Wind Of Change – The Song That Became An Anthem Of Hope!

The song Wind Of Change appeared on SCORPIONS’ 1990 album Crazy World and became a major international single in 1991.

Its gentle whistled introduction is one of the most recognisable openings in rock music.

And when Klaus Meine’s vocals arrive, the track develops into a sweeping power ballad filled with optimism and reflection.

The song became enormously successful internationally.

It reached Number One in numerous countries and became one of the defining recordings associated with the end of the Cold War.

Its popularity was particularly significant in Germany and Eastern Europe.

The music connected with audiences experiencing enormous political and social changes.

And for many listeners, it became associated with hope for a different future.

🕊️ Did Scorpions Actually Bring Down The Berlin Wall?

Now then, here’s where it’s important to keep the history straight.

No, SCORPIONS did not literally bring down the Berlin Wall with a rock song.

The opening of the Wall resulted from complex political, social and economic developments, as well as pressure from people demanding change.

But music can become associated with important historical moments.

And Wind Of Change became one of the most recognisable cultural expressions of that period.

Its lyrics and atmosphere reflected optimism about the possibility of greater understanding between people.

And its success helped establish the song as a lasting symbol of the era.

That is the significance the filmmakers appear particularly interested in exploring.

Not simply a band becoming famous.

But musicians witnessing extraordinary historical events and responding through their art.

It’s a powerful subject for a film.

And one that deserves thoughtful treatment.

🎤 Klaus Meine – The Voice At The Heart Of The Story!

Of all the people involved in SCORPIONS’ extraordinary journey, Klaus Meine is particularly important to the film’s central themes.

His voice helped define the band’s sound.

But he also wrote the lyrics for Wind Of Change, drawing on the experiences that shaped the song.

And his musical career has been remarkable.

For decades, Meine has remained an essential part of SCORPIONS.

His unmistakable vocals can be heard across some of hard rock’s greatest recordings.

From the aggressive energy of Blackout to the emotional drama of Still Loving You, he’s demonstrated extraordinary musical versatility.

And perhaps most importantly, he’s helped keep the band connected with audiences around the world.

Recreating that personality and musical presence represents a considerable challenge for actor Ludwig Trepte.

But it’s also an opportunity to introduce younger viewers to one of European rock’s most distinctive frontmen.

🎸 Rudolf Schenker – The Guitarist Who Started It All!

Another major focus of the film is founding guitarist Rudolf Schenker.

His role in the SCORPIONS story cannot be overstated.

Schenker formed the group in 1965 and remained committed to building an international career.

Long before the enormous festival appearances and worldwide hits, he believed the band could succeed beyond Germany.

And he pursued that ambition through years of touring, recording and developing the band’s sound.

His guitar playing became an essential part of SCORPIONS’ musical identity.

And the partnership between Schenker and Matthias Jabs helped produce some of the most recognisable hard rock riffs of the 1980s.

The film’s portrayal of Schenker will therefore be central to the story.

Because without his original ambition, there simply wouldn’t be a SCORPIONS story to tell.

🎬 Can Wind Of Change Join The Great Rock Biopics?

Over the years, music biopics have become an increasingly important part of cinema.

Films exploring the lives of famous musicians have attracted enormous audiences.

Bohemian Rhapsody introduced QUEEN’s history to another generation.

Rocketman explored the extraordinary life of Elton John.

Elvis revisited the career of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

And A Complete Unknown examined an important period in Bob Dylan’s musical development.

Each took a different approach to portraying real musicians.

And each demonstrated the opportunities and challenges involved in adapting music history for the big screen.

For Wind Of Change, there’s plenty of material.

More than six decades of music.

International success.

Line-up changes.

Enormous tours.

And the extraordinary experience of performing during a period of European political transformation.

But that also creates a challenge.

How do you fit such an enormous story into one feature film?

Which moments deserve the greatest attention?

And how do you balance dramatic storytelling with historical accuracy?

Those are questions we’ll be particularly interested in when the finished movie arrives.

Because while the music deserves to be celebrated, the history deserves to be treated with care.

🐉 Will Wind Of Change Be Released In UK Cinemas?

Now then, here’s the question British and Welsh fans will undoubtedly be asking.

When can we watch the Scorpions movie in the UK?

Unfortunately, a British theatrical release date hasn’t yet been announced.

The confirmed release plans are:

Germany: 28 January 2027.

North America: March 2027.

United Kingdom: Awaiting confirmation.

That means we don’t yet know whether the film will receive a full UK cinema release, selected screenings or a later distribution arrangement.

And we won’t be inventing a date just to make the calendar look more exciting!

But considering the band’s enormous British following, there’s certainly a strong audience for the movie.

And here at The Riff Report, we’d absolutely love to see it on the big screen.

Imagine an opening-night screening in Cardiff.

A room full of rock fans.

The cinema speakers blasting those unmistakable guitar riffs.

And everybody trying very hard not to sing along when Wind Of Change starts playing.

Although, let’s be honest, butt, somebody’s definitely going to start whistling! 😂

🤘 Scorpions Return To Britain And Ireland With Europe In Summer 2027!

Here’s some particularly good news.

Even if the UK movie release remains uncertain, British fans will have an opportunity to experience the real SCORPIONS live next summer.

The band have announced their Love, Peace & Rock ‘n’ Roll Tour 2027.

And they’re bringing along another legendary European rock band.

EUROPE!

Yes, the Swedish hard rock heroes responsible for The Final Countdown, Rock The Night and Carrie are joining SCORPIONS as special guests.

That’s two extraordinary bands on one bill.

And considering the cinematic release of Wind Of Change earlier in the year, the timing couldn’t be better.

And if you’ve never experienced SCORPIONS live, their concerts offer an opportunity to hear some of the greatest anthems in hard rock history.

Rock You Like A Hurricane.

The Zoo.

Big City Nights.

Still Loving You.

And, of course, Wind Of Change.

That’s a pretty spectacular evening’s entertainment.

🎸 The Scorpions Are Still Rocking After More Than 60 Years!

Another extraordinary part of this story is that SCORPIONS aren’t simply celebrating their past.

They’re still performing.

Still travelling internationally.

And still attracting enormous audiences.

Their current line-up features:

🎤 Klaus Meine – Lead Vocals

🎸 Rudolf Schenker – Guitar

🎸 Matthias Jabs – Guitar

🎸 Paweł Mąciwoda – Bass Guitar

🥁 Mikkey Dee – Drums

And there’s something particularly special about seeing Mikkey Dee behind the drum kit.

The Swedish musician previously spent decades performing with MOTÖRHEAD.

Following Lemmy Kilmister’s death in 2015, he subsequently became part of SCORPIONS.

His powerful drumming has added another distinctive element to the band’s live performances.

And with the group preparing another substantial international tour, their story clearly isn’t finished.

That’s one of the things that makes the new biopic so interesting.

The film celebrates the history of a band that remains active.

The musicians aren’t simply figures from a distant era.

They’re still taking the stage and performing their songs for fans around the world.

Not bad for a group whose story began in Hannover back in 1965, is it, butt?

❤️ The Riff Report’s Welsh Perspective – Music Has Always Crossed Borders!

There’s something particularly meaningful about the central themes of Wind Of Change.

Because music has always been capable of bringing people together.

Different countries.

Different languages.

Different cultures.

But a shared love of a song can create an immediate connection.

And that’s something we understand here in Wales.

Our own musical history is filled with artists whose work has travelled far beyond Cymru.

From BUDGIE and MANIC STREET PREACHERS to STEREOPHONICS, SKINDRED, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and countless others, Welsh musicians have reached audiences around the world.

And often, those connections have developed without audiences needing to understand every aspect of the artists’ backgrounds.

The music speaks for itself.

That’s one of the most encouraging parts of the SCORPIONS story.

Young German musicians wanted to play rock music.

They developed a distinctive sound.

And eventually that music reached people living behind political barriers.

The band’s 1988 and 1989 Soviet performances demonstrated how enthusiastic those audiences had become.

And when Wind Of Change arrived, it gave listeners a song that reflected their hopes during a period of enormous historical change.

The music didn’t remove the political divisions by itself.

But it became part of the cultural memory of those events.

And that’s a fascinating story for a film to explore.

Because sometimes a guitar riff can travel to places its creator never imagined.

🎬 Where Can You Watch The Wind Of Change Trailer?

The official trailer has already been released, giving fans an early look at the actors portraying SCORPIONS and the film’s Cold War setting.

It features glimpses of the band’s developing career, dramatic personal moments and the musical atmosphere of the era.

The footage also introduces the film’s wider themes of ambition, identity and international connection.

For fans wanting to see how the actors look in their roles, it’s certainly worth checking out.

🔥 The Riff Report Verdict – Scorpions’ Extraordinary Story Deserves The Big Screen!

Well then, butt.

What a brilliant way to begin 2027!

One of the greatest hard rock bands to emerge from Europe is finally getting a major biographical movie.

And rather than concentrating exclusively on the usual sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll stories, the filmmakers are exploring something rather different.

The experience of growing up in a divided country.

The ambition to succeed internationally.

The importance of friendship.

And the role music played in connecting people during the final years of the Cold War.

That’s an interesting foundation for a film.

And with a cast including Alexander Dreymon, Ludwig Trepte, Ed Speleers, Dominic West and David Kross, there’s plenty of acting talent involved.

But the biggest attraction will undoubtedly be the music.

Because SCORPIONS have created some absolute classics.

Rock You Like A Hurricane remains an enormous hard rock anthem.

Still Loving You is one of the genre’s most recognisable power ballads.

And Wind Of Change became associated with one of the most important periods in modern European history.

Those songs deserve to be heard through a proper cinema sound system.

But perhaps the most interesting thing about the movie is the opportunity to introduce younger viewers to the band’s history.

Because there’s so much more to SCORPIONS than a handful of famous singles.

There’s the early progressive rock period.

The influence of Uli Jon Roth.

The arrival of Matthias Jabs.

The breakthrough into the American market.

The extraordinary Soviet performances.

And the band’s continued international success across more than six decades.

That’s a remarkable musical journey.

Of course, we’ll reserve our final judgement until we’ve actually watched the finished film.

An impressive cast and a brilliant soundtrack don’t automatically guarantee a great biopic.

And it’ll be important to see how the filmmakers balance historical events with dramatic storytelling.

But the potential is certainly enormous.

And with a March 2027 American cinema release now confirmed, the wait is finally becoming a little shorter.

As for us here in Wales?

We’ll be keeping those fingers crossed for a proper UK release.

Because we’re certainly not going to pass up the opportunity to watch one of rock’s greatest bands get the cinematic treatment.

So bring on the enormous guitars, the legendary songs and the extraordinary story behind one of music’s most recognisable anthems.

The wind of change is blowing towards the big screen, butt!

AND WE’RE READY TO ROCK LIKE A HURRICANE! 🐉🤘🎸🔥

💬 Have Your Say, Riff Report Crew!

Right then, you wonderful bunch of rockers and metalheads!

Are YOU excited about the forthcoming SCORPIONS biopic Wind Of Change?

Would you go to the cinema to watch it?

And do you think the filmmakers should concentrate on the band’s Cold War history or explore more of their extraordinary musical career?

We’d also love to know which songs you’d most like to hear in the movie.

Rock You Like A Hurricane?

Still Loving You?

The Zoo?

No One Like You?

Or perhaps something from the early Uli Jon Roth era?

And here’s another question.

Have you ever seen SCORPIONS performing live?

Were you lucky enough to catch them during their 1980s heyday?

Have you seen them at a major European festival?

Or are you planning to attend their 2027 UK and Ireland tour with EUROPE?

Share your memories and favourite songs in the comments!

Because from small German venues to enormous international arenas, SCORPIONS have built an extraordinary legacy.

And now their story is preparing to reach the big screen.

LONG LIVE SCORPIONS! LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL!

KEEP THOSE HORNS HELD HIGH, BUTT! 🐉🎸🔥🤘

Michael

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
