📼🔥 THIS LINKIN PARK CASSETTE PLAYER IS PURE 2000s NOSTALGIA — BUT THERE’S A CATCH! 🤘

Just when we thought Linkin Park collectibles couldn’t get any cooler, a miniature cassette player packed with retro nu-metal swagger has started doing the rounds online — and fans are absolutely losing their minds over it. 😳🎸

Created by Linkique and sold through Cassetteque, this interactive music player looks like something Mike Shinoda might have designed after being locked inside a record shop with a pile of Hybrid Theory artwork and far too many energy drinks.

The viral video showcasing the set has already attracted tens of thousands of reactions, with fans understandably yelling: “WHERE DO WE GET ONE?!”

Honestly, mun… just look at it. 📼🖤

🎧 What Exactly Is the Linkique Player?

Despite its glorious old-school appearance, this isn’t a traditional cassette player — and those miniature tapes don’t contain actual magnetic tape.

The set combines a rechargeable digital music player with nine Linkin Park-inspired miniature cassette designs. Each cassette uses a numbered NFC chip to tell the player which stored MP3 track to play.

Place one of the little cassettes onto the player and your chosen song begins. It’s basically a jukebox, a fridge magnet and a tiny shrine to early-2000s nu metal rolled into one beautifully nostalgic package.

The player and cassette pieces are magnetic too, meaning the collection can apparently live on your fridge when it isn’t busy blasting Linkin Park across the kitchen.

Breakfast cereal with a side helping of “Faint”? That’ll do nicely. 🥣🔥

📦 What Comes in the Collection?

According to the product information, the package includes:

  • One rechargeable music player
  • Nine Linkin Park-inspired cassette designs
  • Nine numbered NFC chips
  • A USB-C charging and data cable
  • Magnets for the player and cassette pieces

The player works with both Windows computers and Macs, appearing as an external drive containing nine numbered folders. Each folder corresponds with one of the supplied NFC chips.

It supports MP3 files and reportedly delivers up to eight hours of playback from a full charge, with charging taking around two hours.

⚠️ Here Comes the Important Catch…

The Linkique collection does not arrive with Linkin Park songs already installed.

You’ll need to supply your own legally obtained MP3 files, connect the player to a computer and drag one song into each of the nine numbered folders. The matching NFC chips must then be attached to the appropriate cassette pieces.

That means Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming subscriptions won’t automatically provide the downloadable MP3 files needed for the player. You may have to purchase the tracks separately if you don’t already own digital copies.

It’s reportedly a straightforward setup once you know what you’re doing, but it isn’t quite the instant plug-and-play experience the flashy social media videos might suggest.

In other words: you’ve got to do a tiny bit of homework before Chester starts shaking the kitchen cupboards. 🤘

💷 How Much Does It Cost?

At the time of writing, the Linkique NFC Fridge Magnet was listed at €43.95, which works out at approximately £37.75 before any currency conversion fees. The retailer advertises worldwide shipping, although availability, delivery times and the final UK price may change. Product details are available from Cassetteque.

The product page describes each set as custom-made, but it does not clearly identify the item as officially licensed Linkin Park merchandise. That’s worth keeping in mind if you only collect officially approved band products.

🖤 Is It Worth Adding to the Collection?

As a piece of interactive fan art, it’s a cracking little idea.

The miniature cassette artwork taps directly into the era when Hybrid Theory and Meteora were permanently lodged inside CD players, baggy jeans could conceal an entire Greggs order and every teenager was attempting to recreate Chester Bennington’s hair.

The ability to choose your own nine tracks is rather tidy too. You could build a miniature career-spanning setlist, dedicate every cassette to a different album or simply load nine copies of “One Step Closer” for emergencies.

Is it an authentic cassette experience? No.

Is it a wonderfully unnecessary piece of Linkin Park nostalgia that would look ridiculously cool beside your albums and tour memorabilia? Absolutely. 😈📼

Just remember that the music needs to be added manually — and check the seller, delivery information and licensing details carefully before placing an order.

🤘 The Riff Report Verdict

The Linkique player is the sort of gadget nobody genuinely needs… right up until they see it playing a tiny Linkin Park cassette on the fridge.

Then all financial responsibility disappears quicker than a pint left unattended at Download Festival. 🍺

Retro styling, custom tracks and one massive blast of early-2000s nostalgia — this little machine has certainly crawled its way into the attention of Linkin Park fans.

Would you load yours with Hybrid Theory, Meteora, the newer material — or build the ultimate nine-song Linkin Park mixtape? Let us know, butt! 🎸🔥

Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies.
