🔥 Fancy swapping the mosh pit for a bowling alley and spending an evening knocking down pins alongside some of the biggest names in rock and metal? Well, butt, grab your bowling shoes, because members of TOOL and ALICE IN CHAINS are offering one lucky fan the chance to join their celebrity bowling team!
Now then, this is something you don’t see every bloody day!
Imagine walking into your local bowling alley and discovering that the bloke beside you isn’t Dai from down the pub, but Danny Carey from TOOL.
And standing beside him?
Only Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor, Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez!
You’d probably be so starstruck that your first bowling ball would end up halfway through the ceiling.
But this isn’t some strange rock ‘n’ roll fantasy cooked up after a few too many pints.
It’s actually happening!
Three members of progressive metal giants TOOL have assembled an all-star bowling team alongside two members of ALICE IN CHAINS, and they’re inviting one lucky fan to join them at the upcoming Bowl For Ronnie 2026 charity tournament.
The event takes place on Thursday 12 November 2026, at PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City, California.
The opportunity is being auctioned on eBay, with funds raised supporting the incredible work of the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
So, not only could you spend an evening bowling with rock royalty, you’d also be supporting a brilliant cause.
Tidy or what, mun?! 🎳🤘
🎸 Meet The Ultimate Heavy Metal Bowling Team!
Forget your local pub’s Thursday night bowling league.
This line-up could probably headline a major rock festival without breaking a sweat!
Three members of TOOL have officially joined forces with two ALICE IN CHAINS musicians to create one seriously formidable team.
🔥 Representing TOOL
- Adam Jones – Guitar: The mastermind behind TOOL’s dark, atmospheric and unmistakable guitar sound.
- Justin Chancellor – Bass: The British-born bassist responsible for some of progressive metal’s most hypnotic basslines.
- Danny Carey – Drums: The drumming powerhouse whose extraordinary rhythms have helped make TOOL one of the most technically fascinating bands on the planet.
🔥 Representing ALICE IN CHAINS
- Jerry Cantrell – Guitar and Vocals: One of grunge’s most influential musicians, celebrated for his haunting melodies, distinctive guitar work and unmistakable vocal harmonies.
- Mike Inez – Bass: The legendary bassist whose career includes ALICE IN CHAINS and performing with Ozzy Osbourne.
🎳 The Sixth Team Member?
YOU!
Well, potentially.
The winning bidder in a special eBay charity auction will take the sixth position alongside these five musicians.
And no, you don’t need to know how to play Schism on guitar or perform one of Danny Carey’s ridiculously complicated drum patterns.
You just need to win the auction, make your way to California and hopefully avoid sending every bowling ball straight into the gutter.
Although, let’s be fair, even if you finish with the worst bowling score in history, you’ll still have a story that would make your mates back home in Wales green with envy.
Imagine casually announcing down the pub:
“Oh, I went bowling with TOOL and ALICE IN CHAINS last week.”
That’s one way to silence the entire bar!
🏆 TOOL Are Coming For The Bowling Crown!
Apparently, the lads aren’t simply turning up for a laugh.
There’s a proper bit of competition brewing!
The decision to create their own team followed an enormous response to another charity auction, which offered fans the opportunity to join legendary rock broadcaster Eddie Trunk’s celebrity bowling team.
With so much interest surrounding that opportunity, TOOL decided to get involved and assemble their own heavyweight line-up.
And there’s a championship to fight for!
The previous celebrity bowling tournament was won by YACHTLEY CREW, the popular yacht-rock outfit who proved that smooth tunes and serious bowling skills can apparently go hand in hand.
Unfortunately, YACHTLEY CREW won’t be defending their title this year because they’re out on tour.
That means there’s an opportunity for another team to claim the crown.
And TOOL clearly fancy their chances.
Considering these musicians have spent years mastering incredibly complicated musical arrangements, you’d imagine knocking down ten pins shouldn’t be too difficult.
Then again, knowing TOOL, they’ll probably try to bowl in 7/8 time.
Somebody get the referee a calculator! 😂
🤘 Eddie Trunk Has Assembled His Own Rock Supergroup!
If TOOL think they’re going to walk away with the trophy without a fight, they’d better think again.
Because radio and television personality Eddie Trunk has assembled his own star-studded team.
And it’s absolutely ridiculous!
🎸 Eddie Trunk’s 2026 Bowling Team
- Eddie Trunk: Legendary rock broadcaster, SiriusXM personality and Bowl For Ronnie host.
- Tom Morello: Guitarist from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE.
- Geezer Butler: The iconic BLACK SABBATH bassist and one of heavy metal’s founding fathers.
- Lita Ford: Solo rock legend and former guitarist with THE RUNAWAYS.
- Brent Woods: Guitarist associated with the GENE SIMMONS BAND and CHEVY METAL.
- Jason Allen: A rock fan from Reno, Nevada, who secured his place through an earlier charity auction.
Just imagine that for a moment.
Geezer Butler lining up a strike.
Tom Morello preparing to unleash some revolutionary bowling technique.
Lita Ford getting ready to show the lads how it’s done.
And Danny Carey standing on the next lane, possibly attempting to calculate the mathematical relationship between bowling pins and Fibonacci sequences.
It’s the sort of gathering that would normally require an enormous backstage area and a mountain of security passes.
Except this time, everybody is wearing bowling shoes.
Heavy metal really is a wonderful thing, butt!

The winning bidder must organise and pay for their own transportation to California.

It’s an opportunity for fans and musicians to come together away from the enormous concert stages and backstage barriers that usually separate them.
And let’s be honest, watching some of rock’s biggest names trying not to fall over while bowling sounds like quality entertainment.
🎟️ Can Fans Attend Without Winning The Auction?
Absolutely!
You don’t need to win the charity auction to support the event.
A limited number of spectator tickets have been made available for $75 each, subject to availability.
For companies, groups and particularly enthusiastic rock fans, team and corporate lane sponsorship packages are also available.
💰 Corporate Bowling Package – $3,000
The announced package includes a private bowling lane for six players, promotional logo placement, six VIP lounge passes, two drink tickets per team member, six event T-shirts, pizza and bowling shoe hire.
It’s certainly a different kind of corporate team-building exercise!
And considerably more entertaining than spending three hours in a conference room discussing quarterly targets.

🔥 More Rock And Metal Legends Are Getting Involved!
The TOOL and ALICE IN CHAINS squad isn’t the only reason rock fans will be excited about this year’s event.
A sizeable collection of musicians from across the rock and metal world have also been announced as participants.
Among those expected to take part are:
- 🤘 Richie Kotzen – THE WINERY DOGS and solo artist
- 🤘 Michael Sweet – STRYPER

- 🤘 Simon Wright – DIO and former AC/DC drummer
- 🤘 Rob ‘Blasko’ Nicholson – OZZY OSBOURNE
- 🤘 Jeff Pilson – FOREIGNER and former DOKKEN bassist

- 🤘 Neil Turbin – Former ANTHRAX vocalist

- 🤘 David ‘Rock’ Feinstein – ELF and THE RODS
Also announced are musicians from RETURN TO DUST, along with Danny Koker and Stoney Curtis, comedian Dean Delray and broadcaster Full Metal Jackie.
More guests may be announced as the event approaches.
That’s an extraordinary collection of musical talent in one building.
Forget the bowling tournament for a second.
You could probably organise one of the greatest rock jam sessions imaginable with the musicians attending.
Although we’d love to know who gets the responsibility of choosing the music on the bowling alley speakers.
If somebody puts on ABBA while Geezer Butler is preparing to bowl, there could be trouble!
❤️ Remembering Ronnie James Dio – The Legend Behind The Charity
Of course, beneath all the celebrity excitement, friendly competition and rock ‘n’ roll humour lies a much more important reason for this event.
Bowl For Ronnie is about keeping the legacy of Ronnie James Dio alive while raising money to fight cancer.
Ronnie James Dio wasn’t simply another heavy metal vocalist.
He was one of the genre’s most influential and instantly recognisable voices.
From his extraordinary work with RAINBOW to his legendary recordings with BLACK SABBATH and his own band DIO, his contribution to heavy music was enormous.
Songs including Holy Diver, Rainbow In The Dark, Heaven And Hell and The Last In Line continue to inspire musicians and fans around the world.
And then, of course, there’s the famous metal horns gesture.
For generations of music lovers, that familiar hand gesture has become one of the ultimate symbols of heavy metal culture.
Ronnie’s importance to our community simply cannot be overstated.
Sadly, the legendary singer passed away on 16 May 2010, aged 67, following a battle with stomach cancer.
His death left an enormous hole in the rock and metal world.
But his legacy continues through the charity established in his memory.
❤️ The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund is a non-profit organisation supporting cancer research, education, prevention and early detection.
Since its establishment, the charity has raised more than $2 million through fundraising events, donations and support from the worldwide rock community.
Its work has included financial support for cancer research at institutions such as the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and projects associated with the T. J. Martell Foundation.
Since 2016, the charity has also supported research by Dr David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
Their work explores non-invasive saliva-based testing methods that could help advance the early detection of cancer.
Early detection can be crucial to improving patient outcomes, making this an important area of scientific research.
And this is where the rock community can genuinely make a difference.
Money raised by events like Bowl For Ronnie helps support the charity’s ongoing mission.
It’s a powerful reminder that heavy metal has always been about much more than loud guitars and massive drum kits.
It’s about community, friendship and looking after one another.
Something we know a thing or two about here in Wales. 🐉❤️
💰 Last Year’s Bowl For Ronnie Raised Over $85,000!
If anyone doubts the generosity of the rock and metal community, they only need to look at the results of previous Bowl For Ronnie events.
The 2025 tournament was a tremendous success.
The event sold out well in advance and raised more than $85,000 for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
That’s a fantastic achievement for an evening built around bowling, music and bringing people together.
And with this year’s newly announced TOOL and ALICE IN CHAINS auction generating excitement, there’s every reason to hope the 2026 event can deliver another impressive fundraising result.
The organisers have confirmed that 100% of the event’s net proceeds will benefit the charity.
It’s worth emphasising that word net, meaning the proceeds remaining after relevant event expenses.
And whether somebody contributes through an auction bid, spectator ticket or direct donation, every contribution helps support the cause.
🎸 Why Events Like Bowl For Ronnie Matter To Rock Fans
There’s something special about the rock and metal community.
We’ve all experienced it.
That moment when you’re standing in a festival field surrounded by thousands of strangers, yet somehow feel like you’re among family.
Whether you’re watching IRON MAIDEN at Download Festival, discovering an unsigned Welsh band in a tiny Cardiff venue or sharing a pint with mates before a gig, music has an incredible ability to bring people together.
And events like Bowl For Ronnie capture that same spirit.
You’ve got world-famous musicians giving up their time.
Fans travelling to support a cause.
Organisers working to raise funds for cancer research.
And everybody coming together in memory of a musician whose songs have soundtracked so many lives.
It’s brilliant.
We spend plenty of time celebrating the loudest gigs, biggest festivals and heaviest guitar riffs.
But moments like this show another side of rock and metal.
One that’s every bit as important.
🤘🔥 The Riff Report Verdict – Strikes, Riffs And One Incredible Cause!
Right then, butt.
Imagine being the lucky fan who wins this auction.
You turn up at PINZ Bowling Center.
You meet Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey.
Then you realise Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez are standing there waiting for you as well.
Suddenly, you’ve become part of one of the most ridiculous celebrity bowling teams ever assembled.
You’re throwing bowling balls alongside musicians responsible for some of the greatest rock and metal recordings of the past few decades.
And somewhere across the building, Geezer Butler, Tom Morello and Lita Ford are preparing to give you a proper run for your money.
It’s completely bonkers.
And we absolutely love it!
But beyond all the excitement, the real winner is the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
Ronnie gave the world unforgettable music, an incredible voice and a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Now the music community is coming together to honour that legacy while supporting vital cancer research.
That’s something worth celebrating.
So, whether you’re planning to bid, buying a spectator ticket or simply spreading the word, this is one charity event that deserves some serious support.
And to the lucky fan who eventually wins that place alongside TOOL and ALICE IN CHAINS?
We’ve only got one piece of advice.
Don’t get beaten by Danny Carey bowling in 13/16 time, mun! 😂🎳
