Well then, butt… this is actually happening.
After plenty of late nights, questionable amounts of caffeine, broken website bits, frantic typing, loud music and the occasional moment of “WHY THE HELL ISN’T THAT WORKING?!”…
THE RIFF REPORT BLOG IS OFFICIALLY LIVE! 🤘🔥
Yep. The doors are open. The amps are cranked. The virtual bar is serving. Someone’s already lost a shoe in the pit.
Welcome to The Riff Report.
A proudly independent, proudly Welsh and unapologetically loud corner of the internet dedicated to rock, metal, festivals, gigs and all the glorious chaos that comes with them.
🎸 SO… WHAT EXACTLY IS THE RIFF REPORT?
The Riff Report was born from a simple idea:
Rock and metal should be FUN to write about.
We love the big publications, but this place isn’t trying to become another corporate music website filled with press-release waffle and headlines written for algorithms.
This is something different.
The Riff Report is about the fans.
The people standing in muddy festival fields holding two pints while trying desperately not to fall over.
The people travelling halfway across Britain because their favourite band announced a gig on a Tuesday night.
The people arguing about setlists.
The people buying another band shirt despite already owning approximately 7,000 black T-shirts.
The people discovering a tiny band playing to 30 people and telling everyone within shouting distance:
“YOU NEED TO SEE THESE!”
Those are our people.
And that’s what this place is about. 🤘
🔥 WHAT YOU’LL FIND ON THE RIFF REPORT
Expect a bit of everything from the wonderfully ridiculous world of rock and metal.
We’re talking:
🎤 Gig Reviews
🤘 Festival Coverage
🔥 Rock & Metal News
🎸 Band Features
💿 Album Reviews
🎧 New Music
📖 Music History
🎟️ Tour Announcements
🏕️ Festival Survival Guides
🎙️ Interviews
😂 Random Rock ‘n’ Roll Nonsense
…and probably several things we haven’t even thought of yet.
One minute we could be talking about the history of a legendary metal album.
The next we’re discussing festival toilets.
That’s range, mun.
🏕️ FESTIVAL FIELDS ARE HOME
Festivals are going to be a massive part of The Riff Report.
There’s something magical about them.
The anticipation walking through those gates.
Hearing the first distant guitar coming from the arena.
Discovering your new favourite band at lunchtime.
Watching thousands of people scream the same chorus.
Eating something questionable from a food van at midnight.
Getting absolutely battered by British weather.
Then waking up in a tent wondering why your back suddenly feels 84 years old.
Beautiful.
We’ll be bringing you festival previews, guides, interviews, reviews, photos, news and plenty of ridiculous stories from the fields.
From huge festivals to smaller independent events keeping Britain’s live music scene alive, we want to celebrate the lot.
And being Welsh?
You’d better believe we’ll be shouting particularly loudly about the incredible bands, venues and festivals coming out of Wales.
🏴 Cymru am riffs!
🤘 SUPPORT THE UNDERGROUND
This bit matters.
The Riff Report isn’t only interested in bands with millions of streams and enormous arena tours.
Some of the most exciting music in the world is happening right now in tiny venues.
There are bands loading their own gear into vans, travelling hundreds of miles, sleeping on floors and playing gigs because they absolutely bloody love it.
Those bands deserve coverage too.
If we discover something brilliant, we’re shouting about it.
Whether you’ve got 50 monthly listeners or 5 million…
If you’ve got riffs, we’re interested.
❤️ BUILT BY A MUSIC FAN
The Riff Report is independent.
There’s no giant media company sitting behind a desk telling us what we’re allowed to enjoy.
No boardroom deciding which bands are fashionable.
No mysterious bloke called Nigel demanding more SEO keywords.
It’s built from a genuine love of music.
The same excitement that comes from discovering a new band.
The same buzz when the lights go down before a gig.
The same feeling when a festival announces a band you’ve been desperate to see.
That’s what we want to capture here.
Because music isn’t just content.
For loads of us, it’s part of who we are.
🍺 EXPECT CHAOS
We should probably warn you now.
Things may occasionally get weird.
Actually…
Things will definitely get weird.
There’ll be jokes.
There’ll be opinions.
There’ll be Welsh slang.
There’ll probably be arguments about whether £8 festival chips are a crime against humanity.
And somewhere along the way, someone will inevitably mention Greggs.
But underneath all the nonsense is something we’re deadly serious about:
Supporting live music.
Supporting bands.
Supporting festivals.
Supporting venues.
Supporting photographers, promoters, crew, independent media and everyone else who keeps this wonderfully noisy world alive.
🚀 THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING
Going live isn’t the finish line.
It’s the starting gun.
There are gigs to cover.
Festivals to survive.
Bands to discover.
Albums to blast.
Stories to tell.
And an enormous rock and metal community out there that we’re buzzing to become an even bigger part of.
So have a wander around.
Read something.
Discover a band.
Send us something ridiculous.
Tell your mates.
Share the articles.
Come say hello if you spot us wandering around a festival field looking confused while carrying far too much camera gear.
Most importantly…
Come along for the ride.
Because The Riff Report is officially alive.
The amps are on.
The lights are down.
The crowd’s getting restless.
And somewhere backstage somebody has definitely misplaced the bloody guest list.
🎸 WELCOME TO THE RIFF REPORT.
🏴 PROUDLY WELSH. PROUDLY LOUD.
Rock. Metal. Festivals. Chaos.
Zero apologies. 🤘🔥
