Right. Picture the scene.
Grey skies. Cold hands. That unmistakable post-Christmas fog where nobody knows what day it is, your bank account is still crying, and the only sensible mission is a beer run 🍺🤘
So off we trot. Hoodies up. Wallets braced. Spirits moderately intact.
And then… BAM.
Easter eggs.
Full shelves.
Big shiny chocolate nonsense staring straight into our souls.
In JANUARY.
🛒 WHEN DID TIME STOP MAKING SENSE?
We’re barely done arguing about whether it’s still acceptable to eat leftover Christmas snacks, and British supermarkets have already skipped ahead like a Spotify shuffle on crack.
No gentle transition.
No warning.
Just a wall of Cadbury glaring at us like: “Go on then. Buy one. You know you want to.”
Mun, it’s still coat weather. The sun clocks off at 4pm. Someone’s heating is on a timer from hell. And yet here we are, being emotionally blackmailed by a hollow chocolate egg the size of a kick drum.
🍫 THE EASTER EGG ARMS RACE
Let’s be honest, this isn’t about Easter.
This is about:
- Bigger boxes
- Thinner chocolate
- “New improved” eggs that somehow feel lighter than your conscience
One minute you’re grabbing tins, the next you’re holding an egg that costs the same as a gig ticket and comes with a mug you didn’t ask for.
Who’s buying these now?
Who is this for?
Who woke up in January and thought: “Aye, chocolate egg season, tidy.”
🤘 RIFF REPORT SURVIVAL MODE ACTIVATED
The crew stood there in silence. Beer in basket. Easter eggs mocking us. A moment of collective confusion swept the aisle.
We came for hops.
We left questioning reality.
This, friends, is the true British supermarket experience:
- Christmas before December
- Easter before winter’s finished
- Halloween the moment summer sneezes
Time is a flat circle. Chocolate waits for no one.
🍺 FINAL VERDICT
Beer run: successful ✅
Seasonal logic: absolutely in the bin ❌
Mental state: shaken but hydrated 🍻
Supermarkets might be living in the future, but here at The Riff Report, we’re still firmly in “it’s too cold for mini eggs” territory.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to crack a tin and pretend it’s still normal.
What’s occurring, Britain? 😵💫🤘
