Right then, festival people — Plumpton Revival 2026 is here, and Friday 7th August is all about easing yourself into the weekend with a camper-only opening night packed with blues, rock, soul, cinema and circus chaos. 🤘🌼
There is one important thing to know straight away: Friday is not a full general-admission festival day.
The main Saturday and Sunday programme kicks off properly over the weekend, while Friday is a special warm-up evening exclusively for weekend campers.

Friday’s entertainment is spread around the festival’s Big Top, cinema and circus areas, giving campers a proper opening-night party before the full festival kicks into gear.

🔥 GYRATORY ALLSTARS
Brighton’s 10-piece Gyratory Allstars bring the funk and soul party to Plumpton.
They arrive with the sort of brass-powered groove that could turn a respectable campsite into a full-on dancefloor before anyone has even worked out where the showers are.
Expect funk.
Expect soul.
Expect grooves.
And expect hips to start moving involuntarily. 🕺🔥
This could be exactly what Friday night needs once everybody has pitched their tents, cracked open the first beverage and officially switched into festival mode.
🎸 WHISKEY FLOWERS
Now we’re getting properly into Riff Report territory.
Whiskey Flowers mix rock, blues and Americana with big guitars, rootsy songwriting and a bit of indie-punk attitude thrown in for good measure.
They were named Emerging Act of the Year at the 2026 UK Blues Awards, making this one of Friday evening’s sets absolutely worth catching.

🎶 ANDY WALES BAND
The Andy Wales Band complete Friday’s announced Big Top live music, bringing blues, rock and soul from Leicester.
The trio have shared stages with the likes of The Cinelli Brothers, Aynsley Lister and Mick Pini, so expect plenty of proper musicianship and tasty guitar work.
This is exactly the sort of music you want while standing in a field with a pint wondering whether putting your tent on a slight slope was actually a catastrophic mistake.

Because nobody wants to discover their favourite band started twenty minutes ago while they’re still fighting with an air bed pump back at the tent. 😂
🎬 FRIDAY NIGHT CINEMA
Plumpton isn’t just chucking bands at you either.
Friday night also features Friday Night Cinema, continuing the festival’s whole 1960s and ’70s revival atmosphere with classic festival footage and plenty of nostalgia.
Considering Plumpton’s historic connection to the original National Jazz and Blues Festival, this isn’t just some random screen shoved inside a tent.
The entire festival is built around celebrating the music, culture and atmosphere that once filled this very racecourse.
So grab something cold, find somewhere comfortable and enjoy a little journey back through British festival history. 🎬🌼
🎪 THE PLUMPTON CIRCUS
There’s also The Plumpton Circus, adding a bit of traditional big-top madness to proceedings.
Expect performers, magic and general:
“What the hell is happening over there?”

Basically, Friday already sounds like the sort of evening where you leave the tent saying:
“We’ll only have one pint and watch a band.”
…and return five hours later discussing Pink Floyd with somebody dressed like they’ve just arrived through a time portal from 1971.

🌈 WHY FRIDAY IS DIFFERENT
Plumpton Revival’s main festival action takes place across Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August, but weekend campers get Friday evening as their opening-night bonus.
That makes Friday less about sprinting between competing stages and more about getting settled in.
Pitch the tent.
Meet the neighbours.
Find the toilets.
Locate the beer.
Watch some live music.
Realise somebody has forgotten the camping chairs.
Realise somebody else has forgotten the tent pegs.
Watch somebody attempt to inflate an air bed using technology clearly designed by NASA.

🤘 THE RIFF REPORT FRIDAY PICKS
Whiskey Flowers are definitely worth circling if you like modern blues-rock with plenty of swagger.
Gyratory Allstars could provide the biggest party of the evening, especially once the campsite has had a few hours to properly wake up.
And Andy Wales Band should be ideal for anybody wanting some classic blues-rock guitar action before the weekend explodes into life.
Throw in cinema, circus entertainment and the general buzz of thousands of festival-goers arriving and Friday looks like a cracking little warm-up.

Because once everyone wakes up on Saturday morning wondering why sleeping on an inflatable mattress ever sounded sensible, Plumpton Revival goes properly massive.

Friday at Plumpton Revival isn’t trying to blow the doors off immediately.
It’s the festival pre-party.
The campers arrive.
