Sunday โ€“ Main Stage โ€“ 3:30pm

As Sunday afternoon rolled on and Steelhouse Festival 2026 edged closer to its grand finale, the atmosphere around the Main Stage was filled with anticipation.

For many fans gathered beneath the stunning Brecon Beacons, this wasnโ€™t just another festival performance.

This was a chance to celebrate one of the greatest legacies in rock history.

When Darren Whartonโ€™s Renegade walked onto the Main Stage at 3:30pm, the applause was deafening. From the very first note, it was clear that this wasnโ€™t about nostalgia aloneโ€”it was about honouring timeless songs while proving they still have the power to unite thousands of rock fans.

What followed was a heartfelt, electrifying performance that perfectly blended classic rock, Celtic soul and the unmistakable spirit of Thin Lizzy.

๐ŸŽค Darren Wharton Was in Superb Form

Watching Darren Wharton perform is like taking a journey through rock history.

His vocals were warm, powerful and packed with emotion, while his unmistakable keyboard playing added another layer of depth to every song.

More importantly, Darrenโ€™s genuine love for the music shone through from the very first minute.

He wasnโ€™t simply performing.

He was sharing memories, celebrating the legacy of Phil Lynott and bringing those iconic songs back to life for a new generation of Steelhouse fans.

Every word felt heartfelt.

Every smile was genuine.

The crowd responded with enormous affection throughout the set.

๐ŸŽธ Classic Rock Played Exactly as It Should Be

Renegade delivered everything fans could have hoped for.

Huge twin guitar harmonies.

Soaring solos.

Crunching riffs.

Beautiful melodies.

The guitarists captured that unmistakable Thin Lizzy sound while adding their own energy and personality to every performance.

Every solo was greeted with huge cheers, while the harmonised guitar work echoed perfectly across the Welsh mountains.

It was a reminder of why these songs have stood the test of time.

๐Ÿฅ A Rhythm Section That Drove Every Anthem

Behind Darren, the rhythm section was outstanding.

The bass grooves carried every song with warmth and authority, while the drums thundered through the valley with precision and power.

Every member of the band played with complete confidence, creating a sound that was both faithful to the originals and fresh enough to feel alive in 2026.

The chemistry between the musicians was exceptional.

You could tell they loved playing these songs just as much as the audience loved hearing them.

๐Ÿค˜ The Steelhouse Crowd Sang Every Word

One of the highlights of the performance was the incredible connection between the band and the audience.

From the opening songs, thousands of fans were singing along, raising their drinks and throwing horns into the air.

The atmosphere became even louder as the classic anthems rolled out.

The front of the arena erupted into cheers after every guitar solo, while fans of all ages joined together to celebrate one of rockโ€™s greatest catalogues.

Watching generations of music lovers singing together was a truly special sight.

๐ŸŒ„ Timeless Music on a Timeless Stage

There is something magical about hearing classic rock echoing across the Brecon Beacons.

Against the spectacular Steelhouse backdrop, Renegadeโ€™s music felt right at home.

The sunshine, the mountain air and the sound of twin guitars created one of those unforgettable festival moments that simply couldnโ€™t happen anywhere else.

It was pure Steelhouse.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Honouring a Legend with Passion

Throughout the performance, Darren Wharton made it clear that this wasnโ€™t simply about revisiting the past.

It was about celebrating the enduring legacy of Phil Lynott and the music that continues to inspire generations of rock fans.

That respect was evident in every note.

Rather than trying to imitate history, Renegade honoured it with class, dignity and incredible musicianship.

The Steelhouse audience appreciated every second.

๐ŸŽช One of Sundayโ€™s Feel-Good Highlights

As the final song came to an end, the crowd erupted into another huge ovation.

Smiles stretched across the arena.

Friends hugged.

Pints were raised.

Fans walked away talking about the songs theyโ€™d loved for decades and how incredible they still sounded live.

It wasnโ€™t just a concert.

It was a celebration of classic rock at its very finest.

๐Ÿป The Riff Report Verdict

Darren Whartonโ€™s Renegade delivered a heartfelt, energetic and thoroughly uplifting performance that reminded everyone why the music of Thin Lizzy remains timeless.

Darrenโ€™s superb vocals and keyboards, outstanding guitar work and a band full of world-class musicians combined to produce one of Sundayโ€™s standout performances.

Steelhouse Festival has always celebrated rockโ€™s rich history while embracing its future, and this performance perfectly captured that spirit.
