Steelhouse Festival has a habit of throwing up those brilliant little moments you could never plan.
You head up the mountain expecting riffs, beers, sore feet and maybe the occasional battle with a tent peg. What you do not necessarily expect is to wander back from the arena after a full day of live music and discover that LN have camped right next to you.
Yep. Proper festival madness. ๐๐ฅ
๐ธ BACK FROM THE RIFFSโฆ STRAIGHT INTO A SURPRISE
After spending the day in the arena soaking up the noise, the atmosphere and everything Steelhouse does best, we made our way back towards the campsite.
At that point, you are usually thinking about finding your chair, opening a drink and working out whether your tent has survived another round with the Welsh mountain weather.
Then came the surprise.
There, camped right next to us, were LN.
One minute you are watching bands perform onstage. The next minute, you are back at camp and realise one of them has become your festival neighbour.
Only at Steelhouse, mun. ๐๏ธ๐ค
๐ฅ ONE BIG ROCK AND METAL FAMILY
That is one of the genuinely special things about festivals like Steelhouse.
There can be a huge divide between bands and fans at bigger events, but up on the mountain, everything often feels much more relaxed, friendly and connected.
Artists, fans, crews and volunteers all share the same unpredictable weather, the same campsite chaos and the same love of loud music.
Finding out LN had camped beside us was not some massive headline moment, but it was exactly the sort of random memory that makes a festival weekend feel special.
No barriers. No fuss. Just musicians and fans sharing the same field, enjoying the same event and probably wondering whose tent is going to start flapping first. ๐
โ๏ธ LN BRING SOMETHING DIFFERENT
LN are not exactly the sort of band you forget in a hurry.
The Newcastle upon Tyne five-piece bring together pagan and Viking metal influences, theatrical performance, soaring clean vocals, harsh growls and heavy folk elements.
Fronted by LN Hirst, they have built a reputation for delivering dramatic live shows packed with character, power and atmosphere.
They looked completely at home at Steelhouse, bringing something darker, heavier and more theatrical to the mountain.
Then, after all that stage presence and metal intensity, there they were back at camp like the rest of us.
That contrast somehow made the whole thing even better.
๐ป THE LITTLE MOMENTS MATTER
Festival coverage often focuses on the biggest performances, the loudest crowds and the wildest stage moments.
And rightly so.
But sometimes the memories that stick with you are the smaller ones.
It is the random chat in a queue. The stranger who helps fix your tent. The band member you bump into while carrying chips. Or the moment you come back from the arena and discover LN have pitched up next door.
Those moments are part of what makes the rock and metal community so special.
Steelhouse is not just a series of performances on a stage. It is an entire weekend of shared experiences, unexpected encounters and glorious mountain chaos.
๐๏ธ ONLY AT STEELHOUSE
Massive respect to LN for being part of another memorable Steelhouse weekend.
Finding them camped next to us was a completely random highlight, but one that perfectly captured the friendly, down-to-earth spirit of the festival.
You can keep your luxury hotels and polished VIP compounds.
Give us a Welsh mountain, a noisy campsite, a questionable amount of sleep and a metal band setting up next door.
That is festival life done properly.
Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies. ๐ค๐ฅ
