Sometimes life on the road throws up unexpected surprises. A broken guitar? Fair enough. A dodgy festival shower? Standard. A cancelled ferry? We’ve all been there.
But getting bitten by a bat… then a poisonous spider… on two separate AC/DC tours?
Now that’s proper rock ‘n’ roll chaos.
Taylor Momsen, the powerhouse frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless, has revealed she’s suffered yet another run-in with the animal kingdom, admitting she’s beginning to wonder whether she’s incredibly lucky… or completely cursed.
🦇 First Came the Bat…
Rock fans will remember the surreal moment back in May 2024 when The Pretty Reckless were opening for AC/DC in Seville, Spain.
While performing on stage, a bat unexpectedly attached itself to Momsen’s leg. Initially unaware of what had happened, she carried on until crew members alerted her that she had acquired an unexpected backing vocalist… with wings.
The incident wasn’t just bizarre—it was potentially dangerous.
Following the show, Momsen underwent a two-week course of anti-rabies vaccinations as a precaution, joking about the experience while somehow keeping her sense of humour intact.
Most musicians leave a tour with a few bruises.
Taylor left with rabies injections.
🕷️ Then Came the Spider…
If lightning wasn’t supposed to strike twice, apparently spiders didn’t get the memo.
While once again touring with AC/DC, this time in Mexico City during April 2026, Momsen suffered another painful encounter after being bitten by a poisonous spider.
Speaking about her increasingly unbelievable luck, she laughed:
“I don’t know whether getting bit twice means I’m lucky or cursed.”
Honestly, Taylor… we’re leaning towards cursed, butt.
At this rate we’re expecting the next tour to involve sharks, bears or an overly aggressive festival seagull.
🎬 From Cindy Lou Who to Rock Royalty
Long before she was leading one of modern rock’s most respected bands, Taylor Momsen was already a familiar face.
Millions first knew her as the adorable Cindy Lou Who opposite Jim Carrey in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, before she became a household name starring as Jenny Humphrey in the hit television series Gossip Girl.
Very few predicted what came next.
Leaving Hollywood behind, Momsen transformed herself into one of rock’s fiercest frontwomen, launching The Pretty Reckless and quickly proving she was far more than another celebrity trying music.
Album after album, the band silenced critics with huge riffs, gritty songwriting and unforgettable live performances.
⚡ Winning Respect the Hard Way
The Pretty Reckless haven’t just earned fans—they’ve earned respect from rock royalty.
Both Soundgarden and AC/DC personally invited the band out on tour, a huge endorsement that speaks volumes about the group’s reputation.
Sharing stages with some of the biggest names in rock has helped cement The Pretty Reckless as one of the standout modern hard rock bands, with Momsen becoming one of the genre’s most recognisable voices.
🎸 The Road Can Be Wild…
Touring has always come with its fair share of madness.
Late-night drives.
Festival mud.
Broken equipment.
Questionable service station food.
Sleep measured in minutes rather than hours.
But very few artists can add “attacked by wildlife on two separate tours” to their CV.
Hopefully that’s the end of Mother Nature’s backstage meet-and-greets.
🤘 The Riff Report Says…
Taylor Momsen has faced critics, massive festival crowds and the pressure of opening for one of the biggest rock bands on Earth.
Turns out the biggest threat wasn’t stage fright…
It was the local wildlife.
Here’s hoping the rest of the tour involves nothing more dangerous than overpriced festival beer, questionable portable toilets and trying to find a decent coffee at a motorway services.
Stay safe out there, Taylor… and maybe have the tour manager inspect the stage before every show from now on! 🦇🕷️🎸🔥
What do you think? Is Taylor Momsen officially the unluckiest woman in rock, or is this just the universe giving her the strangest tour stories ever? Let us know in the comments, and keep it locked to The Riff Report for all the latest rock and metal news, reviews and backstage madness. 🤘🇼🇸
