DONINGTON… WE’RE COMING FOR YOU!

The engines are running, the playlists are blasting, the caffeine is flowing, and somewhere in the car there’s probably enough snacks to survive a small apocalypse.

That’s right, rock fans…

The Riff Report crew are officially on the road to Download Festival 2026! 🤘🎸

After months of waiting, rumours, lineup announcements, packing lists, weather forecasts, and endless countdowns, the journey to the holy land of UK rock and metal has finally begun.

Our sat nav is pointing directly at Donington Park, and the excitement levels are currently somewhere between “opening riff of Master of Puppets” and “front row when your favourite band walks on stage.”

THE PILGRIMAGE BEGINS

For thousands of rock and metal fans across the UK and beyond, Download Festival isn’t just a festival.

It’s a pilgrimage.

Every June, roads across Britain become packed with cars, campervans, minibuses and coaches loaded with tents, sleeping bags, beer, band shirts and enough black clothing to block out the sun.

And today, The Riff Report joins that legendary migration.

The closer you get to Donington, the more Download signs appear, the more band shirts you see at service stations, and the more excited everybody becomes.

It’s a feeling every Download veteran knows.

You can almost hear the distant sound of guitar amps calling you home.

FIRST STOP: GREGGS, OBVIOUSLY

As eagle-eyed readers may have noticed from our route, there’s one very important landmark sitting proudly in Castle Donington.

Greggs.

Now look…

We’re not saying a festival journey requires a sausage roll.

But we’re not not saying it either.

A proper festival adventure starts with breakfast and questionable nutritional decisions, and Greggs has become as much a part of UK festival culture as muddy boots and overpriced ponchos.

Some traditions simply cannot be ignored.
