Grab your pumpkins and crank that double bass drum, butt — it’s time to talk about HELLOWEEN, the German metal legends who basically invented power metal as we know it! 🇩🇪🔥
Formed in Hamburg in 1984, these mad lads mixed lightning-fast riffs, soaring vocals, and fantasy-fuelled chaos to create a sound that launched a thousand battle vests. 🏰⚔️
🎸 From Speed to Power: The Birth of a Genre
Before Helloween, metal was loud. After Helloween, it flew.
Their early albums — Walls of Jericho (1985) and the two-part Keeper of the Seven Keys saga (1987 & 1988) — turned the speed metal of the day into something heroic, melodic, and downright glorious.
Songs like:
- Eagle Fly Free 🦅
- Future World 🌍
- I Want Out 🚪
…weren’t just songs. They were battle cries.
And let’s be honest — Michael Kiske’s voice could wake the gods themselves. ⚡
🎃 The Pumpkin Heads Rule the World
The band’s pumpkin logo isn’t just a gimmick — it’s a religion. From patches to stage props, the humble pumpkin became the face of European metal.
And when Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II dropped, Helloween weren’t just another metal band — they were THE blueprint for a whole new generation. Bands like Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, and DragonForce owe these boys everything.
🤘 Turmoil, Tears & Triumph
Of course, the road wasn’t all rainbows and flying eagles. The late ‘80s and early ‘90s saw label drama, departures (bye, Kiske 👋), and lineup chaos.
But the band never died. Like a phoenix made of Marshall amps, Helloween kept coming back — through every lineup change, every style shift, every era.
With Andi Deris stepping in on vocals in 1994, the band re-forged their sound with albums like:
- Master of the Rings
- The Time of the Oath
- The Dark Ride
And let’s not forget Pumpkins United — the ultimate metal multiverse crossover, where Kiske, Kai Hansen, and Andi Deris all shared the stage in perfect harmony. That reunion tour? Pure goosebumps, mun. 🏴🔥

🏰 The Legacy Lives On
Helloween didn’t just play metal — they built kingdoms with it. Every note, every scream, every solo is packed with the spirit of adventure, humour, and sheer unfiltered joy that defines true heavy metal.
They’re not just the “pumpkin heads.”
They’re the lords of light-speed riffs and eternal choruses.
As Kai Hansen once said:
“Helloween is not just a band. It’s a way of life.”
Proper job, boys. Proper job. 👏🎃⚡
