“Turn it up, spill your pint, and thank us later.”
๐ค ORIGINS โ BOYS FROM CAMBRIDGE, READY TO RIFF
The story starts in Cambridge, 2008, when drummer Dhani Mansworth โ son of Laurie Mansworth from NWOBHM legends Airrace โ decided the world needed another dose of straight-up, no-frills hard rock. At the time, the UK was drowning in indie bands with floppy haircuts, and metal was veering either into growls or prog excess. Dhani just wanted riffs, choruses, and sweat-soaked gigs.
He pulled together a gang of likeminded riff addicts: the Grey brothers (Tagore and Tao) on guitars, Rick โSwoggleโ Newman on bass, and vocalist Matt Jones. Their mission? Bring back the beer-soaked, leather-jacketed glory of AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Guns Nโ Roses โ but with the energy of youth.
By 2011, they were already turning heads, and not just in their local pub.
๐ฟ THE ALBUMS โ BLOOD, SWEAT & RIFFS
1๏ธโฃ This Might Hurt (2011)
Their debut landed like a shot of Jack Daniels to the face. Raw, cheeky, and unashamedly retro.
Highlights:
- โDrink, Fuck, Fightโย โ The title says it all, mun. ๐คฃ Pure teenage chaos bottled into a riff.
- โShake the Mountainโย โ AC/DC swagger with a British snarl.
- โThe Doctorโย โ A sleazy rocker that couldโve been on a Sunset Strip jukebox.
This album got them onto support tours with Alice Cooper and KISS โ not bad for a bunch of young lads still learning how to survive a rider without throwing up.
2๏ธโฃ Running With the Dogs (2014)
Slightly more polished, but still dirty enough to need a shower afterwards. By now theyโd carved out a reputation as the UKโs answer to Airbourne.
Highlights:
- โI Bleed Rock + Rollโย โ Stadium-ready chorus, tailor-made for festivals.
- โGet the Party Onโย โ Anthem for Steelhouse campsites everywhere. ๐ป
- โDonโt Look Downโย โ A slice of Def Leppard-style melody, showing they had more in the tank than just bar-brawling riffs.
This era saw them touring relentlessly, learning the ropes the old-school way: in vans, with hangovers, and occasionally waking up in the wrong postcode.
3๏ธโฃ Generation Me (2016)
Line-up shake-up! Enter Tom Rampton on vocals, whose bluesy roar gave the band a fresh kick up the arse. This album balanced sleaze and anthems with a sharper edge.
Highlights:
- โLet It Beginโย โ Proper fist-raiser.
- โCry Toughโย โ Not a Poison cover, but just as glam and sassy.
- โGeneration Meโย โ A cheeky swipe at millennial culture, wrapped in riffs.
By this point, theyโd shared stages with Slash, Steel Panther, and Mรถtley Crรผe โ all bands who know a thing or two about chaos.
4๏ธโฃ Power Crazy (2019)
The title fits. Faster, dirtier, and more confident than ever. This was The Treatment flexing their muscles like theyโd just necked six Red Bulls.
Highlights:
- โLetโs Get Dirtyโย โ A live favourite, guaranteed to have pints flying.
- โBite Backโย โ A snarling rocker with attitude to spare.
- โHang Them Highโย โ Pure hard rock thunder, built for sweaty club gigs.
This album cemented their rep as a live-first band โ they werenโt chasing radio play, just the next chance to blow the roof off another venue.
5๏ธโฃ Waiting For Good Luck (2021)
Their strongest record yet. Bigger hooks, sharper riffs, and Ramptonโs vocals sounding massive.
Highlights:
- โRat Raceโย โ Anthemic and full of bite.
- โLetโs Make Moneyโย โ A cheeky middle finger to the industry.
- โLuck of the Drawโย โ One of their most melodic tunes, showing theyโve still got new tricks.
Critics called it their โcareer peak so farโ โ tidy stuff.
๐ช LIVE โ WHERE THE TREATMENT COME ALIVE
The Treatment are built for the stage. Small clubs? Theyโll rattle your teeth. Big festivals? Theyโll have you spilling cider on strangers while screaming along.
Theyโve toured with:
- KISSย (2012) โ Gene Simmons probably made them pay for the catering, but stillโฆ huge.
- Mรถtley Crรผeย โ Where they learned exactly how not to behave on a tour bus. ๐
- Alice Cooperย โ The Godfather of Shock Rock giving them the nod of approval.
- Steel Pantherย โ Chaos + more spandex than Primarkโs discount bin.
- Slashย โ Yes,ย thatย Slash. Imagine being young and opening for the man in the hat.
At Steelhouse Festival, theyโve become a bit of a staple. Their 2023 set was one of those โthe hillside turned into a beer-fuelled mosh pitโ moments. Proper crowd-pleasers, and always game for a laugh.
๐ด VIBE CHECK โ WHY WE LOVE โEM
- They donโt faff about with genres โ they playย hard rock, loud and proud.
- Theyโre the soundtrack to a messy night out in Cardiff, or a road trip where youโre definitely going too fast. ๐๐จ
- Theyโve kept the faith in a style of rock that never truly dies, it just needs young blood (and a crate of lager) to keep it going.
๐ THE FUTURE โ STILL RUNNING WITH THE DOGS
The Treatment show no signs of slowing down. With each record theyโre tightening the screws, winning new fans, and proving that British hard rock is alive, sweaty, and still shouting into the night.
Rumour mill says new music is on the horizon โ and with their live rep only growing, theyโre one festival away from becoming household names for every rocker in the UK.
๐ง FINAL VERDICT
The Treatment are Britainโs modern hard rock lifeline โ young enough to have the energy, old-school enough to know what makes rock great. They donโt need gimmicks, just riffs, choruses, and a stage to tear up.
So next time theyโre on the bill at Steelhouse, Download, or your local sweaty club โ get in the pit, spill a pint, and remember why rock โnโ roll will never die.
