Spoiler: absolutely not, butt. 🍻⛰️

By The Riff Report Blog – from the side of the bloody mountain

We’ve arrived. The tents are up (sort of). The beers are chilling in a suspiciously muddy cooler. The mountain is calling – and The Riff Report Blog is already knee-deep in empty tinnies and festival anticipation. But a serious question has arisen…

Is it too early to start drinking at Steelhouse Festival?

Let us answer that with all the rock ‘n’ roll wisdom we can muster:

HELL. NO.

🌄 THE MOUNTAIN DEMANDS SACRIFICE (AND THAT SACRIFICE IS YOUR LIVER)

Steelhouse isn’t just a festival. It’s a pilgrimage. A high-altitude haven for denim jackets, bullet belts, inflatable guitars, and grown men crying to Thunder. And like any good pilgrimage, there are rites of passage. You hike up the hill. You pitch your tent wrong. You lose your mates before the first band even plays. And you crack open your first can before breakfast.

It’s tradition, mun. Like chips and curry sauce after a night out in Merthyr. Like shouting “PLAY FREE BIRD!” even when no one asked. Like waking up hungover at 8am and immediately starting again. 🍻

🕒 WHAT TIME IS “FESTIVAL O’CLOCK”?

Here at Steelhouse, time is irrelevant. You don’t ask what time it is, you ask “who’s on next?” and “where did I put my hip flask?” The sun could be rising, setting, or hiding behind a cloud the shape of Lemmy – it doesn’t matter.

Because at Steelhouse, Festival O’Clock starts the moment your tent hits the grass. Or gravel. Or cowpat. You don’t wait for the first band to start – you pre-game like legends. You toast to the mountain gods. You raise a tin to all the bands who’ll melt your face later.

We’ve seen people with pints at 9am, full whisky tumblers at 10, and a suspiciously strong “tea” at midday. And that’s just the security guards. 🤘

🍺 WHAT’S ON THE RATION LIST?

Now, let’s talk beverages. Our official Steelhouse survival kit includes:

A 24-pack of whatever was cheapest at Aldi (plus one “posh” can for photos) Hip flasks of dubious legality Emergency Buckfast Festival cider in a plastic bottle from home labelled “apple juice” One bottle of water we’ll probably forget to drink until Sunday

And don’t judge us – we’re professional. Hydration is key. So we’ve also packed Berocca, Lucozade, and regrets.

🧡 JOIN US – OR MOCK US FROM AFAR

So if you’re reading this from your tent, your car, or the campsite toilet queue – and wondering if it’s too early to crack open that first can – let us answer again with pure Steelhouse wisdom:

It’s NEVER too early when you’re on the mountain, butt.

This is Wales’ finest festival. This is rock, this is roll, this is rain and riffs and ridiculous behaviour. Get that tinny in hand, toast the sheep, and let the Steelhouse madness begin.

We’ll see you down the front – slightly wobbly, definitely loud, and probably sunburnt in the shape of our sunglasses.

Yours chaotically,
