If Metallica were the brooding philosophers, Slayer the blood-drenched speed demons, and Megadeth the shredding cynics… then Anthrax were the beer-chugging, comic-book-reading, mosh-starting maniacs that made metal fun again. 💀🍻📚
Formed by Scott Ian (riff lord, goatee king, and walking metal encyclopedia) and Dan Lilker (bassist and nuclear bomb enthusiast), they helped invent thrash metal – and took it to the streets with a hardcore punk edge and New York snarl.
And with that signature combo of breakneck riffs, gang vocals, rap-metal experimentation, and a total lack of chill, Anthrax became essential.
