Turn up the strings, fire up the spaceship and prepare to spend an evening living in a very, very blue sky — The ELO Tribute Show is heading out on a massive UK and Ireland tour across 2026 and 2027! 🌌🎻🎸
For fans of Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra, this is one hell of a diary-filler.
The production — billed as “A Tribute to the Genius of Jeff Lynne and ELO” — will be taking the unmistakable sound of ELO to theatres and concert halls across Britain and Ireland, with dates stretching from September 2026 right through to June 2027.
And yes, Welsh rockers, there’s a Cardiff date in there too. 🐉🔥
Monday 13 June 2027 — New Theatre, Cardiff.
Tidy.
🌌 Celebrating the Genius of Jeff Lynne and ELO
Few bands have ever sounded quite like Electric Light Orchestra.
Rock ‘n’ roll collided with orchestral arrangements, huge pop melodies, futuristic production and enough strings to make your average guitar roadie break into a cold sweat.
Under the creative direction of Jeff Lynne, ELO produced an extraordinary catalogue packed with songs that have become part of British musical culture.
We’re talking:
🎵 Mr. Blue Sky
🎵 Evil Woman
🎵 Livin’ Thing
🎵 Telephone Line
🎵 Turn to Stone
🎵 Sweet Talkin’ Woman
🎵 Don’t Bring Me Down
🎵 Rockaria!
🎵 Wild West Hero
🎵 Last Train to London
🎵 Shine a Little Love
Absolute tune after absolute tune.
You could probably hear the opening seconds of Mr. Blue Sky from three streets away and immediately start singing along.
That’s the power of ELO, mun. ☀️
🎻 The ELO Tribute Show Hits the Road
The upcoming tour is a proper monster.
The first announced show takes place at Cork Opera House on 3 September 2026, before the production works its way around Ireland and the UK.
After a packed run through September, October and November, things fire back up again in January 2027, eventually reaching Cardiff for the currently announced finale in June.
So grab your diary, find the nearest venue and start practising your “Please tell us why…” vocals.

🐉🔥 13 JUNE 2027 — CARDIFF — NEW THEATRE!
There we are, butt!
The ELO Tribute Show is heading to the Welsh capital, bringing the music of Jeff Lynne and ELO to Cardiff’s New Theatre on 13 June 2027.
For Welsh ELO fans, that’s going to be one to circle in the diary with the biggest marker pen you can find.
And let’s face it…
Hearing Mr. Blue Sky in Wales is always slightly ironic considering there’s about an 80% chance it’ll be absolutely chucking it down outside. 🌧️😂
Only in Wales, mun.
🎸 Why ELO’s Music Still Sounds Massive
What’s remarkable about ELO is just how little their biggest songs seem to age.
Jeff Lynne took influences from The Beatles, classical music, rock ‘n’ roll and huge orchestral arrangements and somehow turned them into something instantly recognisable.
You don’t really mistake ELO for anyone else.
Those harmonies.
Those strings.
Those massive choruses.
Those strange futuristic noises.
That production.
It’s music designed to sound enormous.
And that’s precisely why a full theatrical tribute to ELO makes so much sense.
These aren’t songs that should be quietly rattled through in the corner of a pub while Dave from accounts orders another Guinness.
They need a stage.
They need lights.
They need musicianship.
They need that big cinematic atmosphere.
And ideally somebody behind you absolutely losing their mind when Mr. Blue Sky starts. 😂
☀️ Everybody Knows Mr. Blue Sky
Then, of course, there’s that song.
Mr. Blue Sky.
Released as part of ELO’s monumental Out of the Blue album, it has grown far beyond being simply another classic rock track.
It’s become one of those songs that seems capable of instantly improving the mood of an entire room.
Weddings.
Films.
TV programmes.
Adverts.
Festival fields.
Road trips.
Family parties.
Someone inevitably sticks it on.
And suddenly everyone’s singing.
That’s one of the reasons tribute productions like this can be such brilliant nights out. You’re not dealing with a catalogue containing two songs everyone knows and fifteen tracks where half the audience heads for the bar.
ELO’s back catalogue is stacked.
🎻 A Celebration Rather Than an Imitation
The best tribute shows aren’t about pretending it’s 1978 again.
They’re celebrations.
They’re about keeping incredible music alive on stage and allowing audiences to experience those songs performed loudly, properly and communally.
Some people attending will have followed ELO for decades.
Others might have discovered Jeff Lynne through their parents.
Some will have found the music through films or television.
And there’ll inevitably be younger fans discovering just how ridiculously deep the ELO catalogue actually goes.
That’s what makes nights like this special.
Different generations.
Same songs.
Everyone singing together.
That’s rock ‘n’ roll doing what rock ‘n’ roll does best. ❤️🎸
🎟️ GET THOSE DIARIES OUT!
With shows scheduled throughout Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, there’s a decent chance The ELO Tribute Show is landing somewhere reasonably close to you.
The tour currently stretches across September 2026 to June 2027, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to climb aboard the ELO mothership.
And Cardiff?
We’ll see you there. 🐉🤘
Expect gigantic melodies, orchestral rock brilliance, nostalgia by the bucketload and at least one moment where an entire theatre collectively thinks:
“SUN IS SHININ’ IN THE SKY…” ☀️🎶
You know what happens next.
🤘 THE RIFF REPORT
Will you be catching The ELO Tribute Show during its massive UK & Ireland 2026/27 tour?
Which ELO classic absolutely HAS to be in the set?
Mr. Blue Sky? Evil Woman? Don’t Bring Me Down? Livin’ Thing? Telephone Line?
Get the arguments started — because picking one favourite ELO tune might be harder than getting served at a festival bar five minutes before the headliner. 🍺😂
