What’s occurring, butt!? The quiet streets of Abertillery just got a thunderbolt of heavy metal energy straight to the chest, because the town has unveiled a giant, screamingly brilliant mural of none other than Ozzy Osbourne. Yes, the Prince of Darkness himself is now gazing majestically across Blaenau Gwent like some occult guardian angel of riffs.
And this magnificent beast of a mural?
It lives proudly on the exterior of Kenny’s Vinyl Vault, the legendary record shop that’s basically the Valleys’ House of Black Sabbath.
This is the kind of cultural moment that makes you shout “TIDY MUN!” in the middle of the high street.
🖌️ THE MURAL: A RIFF-SOAKED MASTERPIECE
A towering spectacle of colour, chaos, and pure heavy-metal essence, the mural captures Ozzy mid-snarl, mid-mystic-hand-gesture, mid-being-Ozzy — that eternal state of theatrical lunacy we all adore. It’s the kind of artwork that doesn’t just sit quietly on a wall… it roars.
Passers-by are already treating it like a pilgrimage stop.
Selfies, bowing, metal horns raised to the sky, the lot.
One local swore blind that a lad from Ebbw Vale shouted “WE LOVE YOU OZZY, BUTT!” across the roundabout. That’s the valleys spirit, mun.
🎸 WHY ABERTILLERY? BECAUSE WALES IS METAL COUNTRY
Let’s get something straight: Wales doesn’t just appreciate heavy metal.
Wales adopts it, feeds it a pasty, teaches it a few Welsh swear words, and puts it onstage at Steelhouse Festival.
Abertillery has a long tradition of punching above its weight in the culture game, and Kenny’s Vinyl Vault is at the heart of that. The shop is a sanctuary for record collectors, gig addicts, and that one fella who refuses to leave until he’s checked the “rare punk” crate five times.
Slapping an Ozzy mural on the side isn’t just decoration. It’s a statement:
“THIS TOWN IS RIFF COUNTRY. ENTER WITH RESPECT.”
🏪 KENNY’S VINYL VAULT – THE TEMPLE OF TUNES
If you’ve stepped foot in Kenny’s, you already know the vibe: walls stacked with classics, floors that squeak like a haunted drum kit, and that unmistakable smell of fresh vinyl and old rock magazines.
The mural not only boosts the shop’s already legendary rep, but turns it into a landmark for music lovers across Wales. Expect road trips. Expect band photoshoots. Expect couples arguing because one of them wants to “just nip in for five minutes” and emerges 40 minutes later with eight LPs they absolutely didn’t budget for.
📸 GET READY FOR A SOCIAL MEDIA TAKEOVER
This mural is about to clog every Welsh timeline like a riff avalanche.
You know the type:
• teens recreating Blizzard of Ozz poses
• local bands declaring “album cover sorted”
• goths who normally avoid daylight standing proudly beside it
• confused nans asking “Is that that Oswald Osborne fella?”
And if Ozzy himself ever returns to Wales and doesn’t pose in front of it?
The valleys will rise.
🏴 WELSH VALLEYS: RISING METAL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Between Steelhouse Festival roaring on the mountain, homegrown talent exploding across the scene, and now a mural of metal’s ultimate madman gracing Abertillery’s streets… we’re witnessing a full cultural takeover.
Give it a decade and UNESCO will be forced to declare the Valleys an official World Heritage Site for Services to Riffage.
This mural isn’t just art.
It’s identity.
It’s pride.
It’s Wales doing what Wales does best: loving loud music louder than anyone else.
🤘 FINAL WORD
Fair play to Abertillery. Fair play to Kenny’s Vinyl Vault. Fair play to whoever painted this absolute unit of a mural.
Ozzy would be proud.
Sharon would approve.
And every Welsh metal fan just got a new place of worship.
Tidy scenes, mun. Absolutely lush.
