Right then, you’re buzzing for Oasis in Cardiff – the beers are cold, the bucket hat’s ready, and your voice is already a bit hoarse from screaming “Y’KNOW WHAT I MEAN?!” in the mirror. But before you dive headfirst into the crowd like a mad lad on a mission, let’s talk gig etiquette, survival hacks, and the unspoken rules of not being a bellend. 😅
Whether it’s your first gig or your 50th, here’s The Riff Report’s ultimate DO’s, DON’Ts & Survival Tips for smashing the Oasis Cardiff show without losing your mates, your phone, or your dignity. 🏟️🕺
✅ What You CAN Bring In (But Check the Size!)
- Clear plastic bags only! (Max size: A4 – 30cm x 21cm x 8cm)
No massive backpacks, no handbags the size of your dog – A4 is the magic number. - Mobile phone & portable charger (lifesavers!)
- Small digital cameras (no detachable lenses or pro kit)
- Personal meds (with a prescription or doctor’s note – tidy!)
- Jackets and light clothing
- Earplugs or hearing protection
- Small foldable rain poncho (It’s Wales. It’s probably going to rain.)
❌ What You CAN’T Bring In (Don’t Even Try It, Butt)
- Bags larger than A4 size (get turned away faster than Noel at a Liam reunion)
- Cans, bottles, or any drinks (yep, even water unless medically required)
- Alcohol (obvs – buy it inside at premium prices 😉)
- Food & snacks (unless for medical reasons – no to your Tesco meal deal)
- Umbrellas (get a poncho instead – you can’t poke someone’s eye out with a poncho)
- Professional cameras, GoPros, selfie sticks
- Flares, fireworks, vuvuzelas, air horns (this isn’t the World Cup, mun)
- Chairs, blankets, or anything “picnic-y”
- Drugs or anything illegal (unless you fancy a quiet night in the cells)
- Laser pens or anything that can blind a Gallagher
🛑 EXTRA SECURITY TIPS
- Get there early – bag checks take time, and you don’t want to miss the first chords of “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”.
- Have your clear bag ready and zipped – fannying about at the front of the queue is not the vibe.
- Don’t argue with staff – they’ve heard it all before. “But it’s just a ham sandwich!” won’t fly.
🕺 TL;DR: Pack Light, Pack Smart
Bring only what you need. Think:
- Phone
- Charger
- Ticket (on phone + screenshot)
- Cash/card
- ID (especially if you’re planning a pint or ten)
- Rain poncho
- Earplugs
- Common sense
✅ DO’S: BE A GIG LEGEND
🎟️ DO Get There Early (But Not Stupidly Early)
Want barrier? Be prepared to queue. Want vibes? Arrive when the support hits. Want chips? Hit the chippy before the doors open. Timing is everything, butt.
📱 DO Screenshot Your Ticket & Plan Your Route
Battery’s gonna die, signal’s gonna vanish – don’t risk your night on flaky Wi-Fi. Screenshot that ticket and map your route home or to the kebab shop. Or both.
🧥 DO Dress Smart (Not Smart-Smart, Just Sensible)
It’s Cardiff – rain, wind, sunshine, all in 10 minutes. Layer up, wear decent shoes, and don’t bring your best coat unless you fancy dancing with bin juice.
🕶️ DO Respect the Vibe
We’re here to belt out “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, not film it for your Insta followers. Sing. Jump. Hug strangers. Just don’t film the whole bloody set on your phone.
🧃 DO Hydrate (Not Just With Lager)
Yes, we love a pint, but don’t be the one passed out before “Live Forever”. Grab water when you can. Your future hungover self will thank you.
❌ DON’TS: DON’T BE THAT PERSON
📸 DON’T Record the Entire Show
One clip? Fine. Thirty reels of you shouting “LIAMMMM!” into your camera? Unfollowed.
👣 DON’T Shove Your Way to the Front
It’s not Glasto ’95. If you want a good spot, earn it. Pushing past fans mid-set is a mosh pit sin. People will remember you. In a bad way.
💨 DON’T Light Up (Unless You’re in Designated Zones)
Ciggies, vapes, or worse – keep ‘em out the crowd. No one came to inhale your Juul fog while belting “Roll With It”.
🚽 DON’T Leave It Too Late for the Loo
There’s no pain like realising you need a wee as the opening chords of “Champagne Supernova” hit. Plan your toilet trips like a military operation.
🥊 DON’T Be a Tw*t
Don’t throw drinks. Don’t start fights. Don’t wear a Man City shirt if you’re in a crowd of Man U fans. Simple stuff, really.
🧠 SURVIVAL TIPS: ROCK ‘N’ ROLL READY
🎒 Pack Like a Pro
- Essentials Only: Ticket, ID, phone, cash/card, portable charger, tissues.
- Optional Extras: Sunglasses, paracetamol (trust us), earplugs if you’re front row, rain poncho (classic Welsh weather incoming).
📍 Agree on a Meeting Point
Phone dies. Signal drops. Friend goes AWOL. Meet by a bar, merch stand, or the giant inflatable Gallagher head (if there is one – there should be).
🪩 Learn the Support Acts
Don’t stand around saying “Who are these lot?” Do a quick listen on Spotify so you can nod along convincingly and discover your next fave band.
🍟 Fuel Up Proper
Cardiff has everything from chippies to curry houses. Grab scran before you head in or you’ll be that person in the crowd crying for cheesy chips at 10:45pm.
🚕 Getting Home = Plan Ahead
Taxi? Book in advance. Train? Know the last one. Walking? Stay in groups. Cardiff’s lush, but don’t stumble around like you’re in Trainspotting.

🎸 BONUS: THE UNWRITTEN OASIS CROWD CODE
- Don’t boo Noel if he’s not there. He’s probably at home sipping wine and muttering about guitars.
- Know when to belt it (“Some Might Say”), and when to shut up (“Slide Away”).
- If someone lifts their kid onto their shoulders – let ’em. It’s probably their first gig. Let them feel the magic.
- Leave no trace. Don’t trash the place. You wouldn’t like it if someone left Strongbow cans on your nan’s lawn.
🎤 FINAL WORD
Going to an Oasis gig in Cardiff is more than just a night out – it’s a pilgrimage. From “Supersonic” to “Acquiesce”, these songs are the soundtracks of our youth, heartbreaks, nights out, and pub jukebox wars.
So go hard. Sing louder than your throat allows. But don’t forget your manners, your mates, or your way home.
We’ll see you in the pit, you absolute legends. 🧡🍻
Diolch & rock on!
