Formed in 2013, Maidenhead have spent more than a decade building their sound from the foundations of classic thrash and old-school death metal — and now, with forthcoming full-length album Maximum Clonage, they’re looking increasingly ready to kick the doors off on a much bigger scale.

💀 FROM MASSACHUSETTS WITH RIFFS
Maidenhead emerged from the Massachusetts metal underground in 2013 with a pretty straightforward mission:
Play fast. Play heavy. Write killer riffs. Take no prisoners.
Their musical DNA draws heavily from some of metal’s most influential names, including Megadeth, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Death.
That’s quite the family tree, mun.
But Maidenhead aren’t simply interested in photocopying the classics.
Their music combines the razor-edged attack of traditional thrash with the technical brutality, atmosphere and darker textures associated with old-school death metal.
Expect high-velocity riffing, progressive songwriting, aggressive dynamics and lyrics that aren’t afraid to wander into uncomfortable territory.
It’s music designed to hit hard on record — but perhaps more importantly, it’s built for the stage.
Sweat.
Noise.
Flying hair.
Possibly somebody losing a shoe in the pit.

🎸 ZACK ROBERTS: THE CREATIVE ENGINE
At the centre of Maidenhead is founding guitarist Zack Roberts, who has played a major role in shaping the band’s identity since its formation.
Roberts serves as Maidenhead’s primary songwriter and principal lyricist, having written or co-written the majority of the music and lyrics across the band’s full-length releases.
That creative leadership has helped establish the musical and thematic direction Maidenhead continue to follow today.
Rather than simply smashing together riffs until something sticks — although, let’s be fair, that’s occasionally how some glorious metal songs are born — Maidenhead’s approach incorporates progressive songwriting alongside the sheer aggression expected from thrash and death metal.
The result is a band firmly connected to metal’s past while still attempting to push its own sound forward.
⚔️ DECAPITATION OF A MAIDEN
The band’s debut full-length album, Decapitation of a Maiden, arrived in 2023 and represented an important step forward.
It wasn’t simply another release to chuck onto streaming services and hope somebody stumbled across at 2am.
The record helped Maidenhead begin expanding beyond the New England underground.
And expand they did.
Following its release, the band started picking up festival appearances and support opportunities alongside internationally recognised and veteran acts including:
- Artillery
- D.R.I.
- Prong
- Pyrexia
- Deceased
- Blood Feast
That’s some seriously respectable company.
Those opportunities helped push Maidenhead into new audiences while strengthening their reputation as a live band capable of sharing stages with established names.
🚐 MILES, RIFFS AND PROBABLY TOO MANY PETROL STATIONS
Every underground band knows the glamorous reality of touring.
Long drives.
Tiny load-in doors.
Service-station food.
Trying to remember which bag contains your clean socks.
And somehow fitting an unreasonable amount of musical equipment into a vehicle that definitely wasn’t designed for it.
Maidenhead have embraced that grind.
The band have established a multi-state touring footprint stretching across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and California.
Along the way, they’ve performed in major markets including Boston, Providence, New York City, Worcester and the greater Los Angeles area.
But 2025 delivered one particularly important milestone.
🌴 MAIDENHEAD GO WEST
In 2025, Maidenhead completed their first multi-city California tour.
The run included performances in:
San Jose, Santa Cruz, Oakland, Pomona, East Hollywood and Los Angeles.
For a Massachusetts underground metal band, that’s a pretty significant leap.
Suddenly Maidenhead weren’t simply a New England outfit venturing across neighbouring state lines.
They were becoming a bi-coastal touring band.
And that matters.
Building audiences thousands of miles away from your home scene is difficult enough for established artists, never mind independent heavy bands battling for every ticket sale, stream and new pair of ears.
Maidenhead clearly aren’t afraid of putting the miles in.
But touring isn’t the only area where things have levelled up.
Because Maximum Clonage is bringing some serious firepower.
💥 ENTER MAXIMUM CLONAGE
Maidenhead’s forthcoming full-length album Maximum Clonage represents what the band describe as a major evolution in both production and scope.
And one name immediately jumps off the page.
Randy Burns.
The legendary producer has mixed the record, bringing decades of heavy music experience to Maidenhead’s latest batch of songs.
Burns’ name occupies a special place in extreme metal history thanks to his involvement with landmark releases from the underground metal world.
Having somebody with that experience behind the desk is a massive statement for a band preparing to make its next move.
But that’s only the beginning.
🎸 RICH GRAY JOINS THE ATTACK
Bass across the entirety of Maximum Clonage is performed by Rich Gray of Annihilator.
That’s another substantial addition to the album.
Annihilator have long been associated with technical precision and ferocious thrash musicianship, making Gray’s involvement a natural fit for a record attempting to combine aggression with progressive musicianship.
But Maidenhead apparently looked at that and thought:
“Needs more guitar.”
Oh yes.

🤯 CHRIS POLAND APPEARS ON “KILL OR BE KILLED”
Former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland makes a guest appearance on the track “Kill Or Be Killed.”
For thrash fans, Poland requires very little introduction.
His distinctive guitar work helped shape Megadeth’s early sound, particularly during one of the band’s most revered periods.
Having Poland appearing on a Maidenhead record provides a direct connection between the band’s classic thrash influences and their own developing musical identity.
Imagine being a young band influenced by Megadeth and then eventually having one of their former guitarists appearing on your album.
That’s one hell of a full-circle moment.
And somehow Maidenhead didn’t stop there.
🔥 GLEN DROVER ENTERS THE CHAOS
Another former Megadeth guitarist, Glen Drover, appears on Maximum Clonage.
Drover — whose career also includes time with King Diamond — contributes guest guitar to “False Masked Hero.”
So let’s recap.
You’ve got Maidenhead.
You’ve got Randy Burns mixing.
You’ve got Rich Gray playing bass.
You’ve got Chris Poland guesting on one track.

🎤 NEW BLOOD ENTERS THE STUDIO
Maximum Clonage isn’t only about famous guests.
The album also represents an important moment within Maidenhead itself.
The record introduces Vance Simmons on guitar and Bella Song on vocals in their first studio performances with the band.
That makes the album something of a crossroads for Maidenhead — connecting the musical direction established by Zack Roberts with new members, new collaborators and a considerably expanded production scale.
Everything points towards Maximum Clonage being designed as more than simply “the next Maidenhead album.”
It feels like a statement of intent.
☠️ “DEATH MARCH” BEGINS
Fans received their first taste of this new era on 25 December 2025, when Maidenhead released “Death March”, the first single from Maximum Clonage, across major streaming platforms.
Nothing says Christmas quite like death metal, does it?
Forget the turkey.

Forget your nan asking why you’re wearing a Slayer shirt at Christmas dinner.
Maidenhead brought the Death March.

Metal is packed with ridiculously talented bands fighting for the same festival slots, support opportunities and industry attention.
But Maidenhead are doing something every successful underground band eventually has to do:

There’s something beautifully old-school about Maidenhead’s journey.
This isn’t a band appearing overnight because one 14-second clip exploded online.
It’s a group that’s spent years working through the underground, playing shows, travelling across state lines, supporting established artists and gradually expanding its reach.
Now Maximum Clonage has the potential to push that story into another gear.
With Zack Roberts driving the songwriting, Vance Simmons and Bella Song making their studio debuts with the band, Rich Gray handling bass, Randy Burns behind the mix, and guest appearances from Chris Poland and Glen Drover, Maidenhead have assembled one hell of a metal arsenal.
