What’s occurring, butt? Grab a cuppa (or something stronger) because this one’s a mad mix of scary, surreal, and peak rockstar energy. Only in our world could a cancer scare turn into a moment worthy of a documentary voiceover.
🎸 The Day Jared Followill Got a Health Scare… With Kings of Leon Playing in the Background
Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill has revealed that he recently had a cancerous mole removed, and honestly, the timing was so cinematic it almost feels scripted.
Jared popped into the dermatologist for a check-up — tidy idea that, fair play — and doctors spotted a mole that needed removing immediately. So there he is, lying back, trying not to overthink life, death, and the meaning of “Sex on Fire”… when suddenly…
The radio starts blasting Kings of Leon.
His own band.
During the operation.
While someone is literally carving into him.
Mate. You couldn’t write it. 😅
He said the moment was so bizarre he half expected the surgeon to ask for tickets to the next gig.
⚠️ But Here’s the Serious Bit, Mun…
Jared shared the news not for attention or album promo, but to remind fans:
➡️ Get your skin checked.
➡️ Don’t ignore weird moles.
➡️ Don’t let the sun roast you like you’re a sausage roll at Download.
His mole was cancerous — but because he caught it early, it was removed before it became something far nastier.
That’s a proper job outcome. 💚
🤘 Fans Flooded Him With Love — and Peak Chaos
As soon as the news broke, fans took to social media with:
- heartfelt messages ❤️
- jokes about his music being “the true anaesthetic” 😂
- and at least one hero asking if the surgeon hummed the guitar solo
The band themselves — being actual family — chimed in with a blend of relief, roasting, and brotherly affection. If your own band doesn’t take the mick, are they even your band?
🔥 Rockers Aren’t Invincible — But They Are Resilient
This whole episode is a reminder that even touring legends aren’t untouchable. Health scares don’t care if you’re selling out arenas or burning toast at home.
But Jared turning it into awareness — and a weirdly wholesome rock ’n’ roll moment — is lush, mun. Absolutely lush.
🏴☠️ Final Word From The Riff Report
From the hills of Wales to wherever Kings of Leon are plugged in this week — Diolch, Jared, for shouting about something that genuinely saves lives.
Go check your skin, you beautiful riff gremlins.
Your future self will thank you.
