OI OI! SOUND THE SIRENS, CRACK OPEN THE SPEAKERS AND ALERT THE NEIGHBOURS…
Newport’s finest have just detonated another absolute monster 💣
Today (Friday 17th April 2026), Welsh ragga metal kings Skindred have unleashed their ninth studio album You Got This — and it’s already shaping up to be an all-killer, no-filler riot of riffs, rhythm and rebellion 🤘🔥
💥 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT: TURN IT UP OR GET OUT
Let’s not mess about — this album is classic Skindred energy cranked to 11.
We’re talking:
- 💣 Bone-crushing slammers
- 🎶 Hooks that’ll live rent-free in your head
- 🔊 Soundclash chaos
- 🌴 Dancehall grooves that make your spine move without permission
It’s that unmistakable Skindred formula — but sharper, louder, and somehow even more infectious.
🎧🔥 RIFF REPORT ALBUM REVIEW – YOU GOT THIS
Right… straight up…
this album absolutely SLAPS. 💥
From the first track, You Got This kicks the door in like it owns the place. The production from Jay Ruston gives everything a massive, polished punch — but crucially, it never strips away that raw Skindred swagger.
⚡ HIGHLIGHTS THAT HIT HARD
- 🎶 “This Is The Sound” – Built like a festival anthem. Big chorus, bigger energy. You can already hear thousands shouting this back.
- 🔥 “Born Fe Dis” – Pure identity track. Heavy, defiant, and dripping with attitude.
- 💣 “My People” – A unifying anthem with bounce, groove, and serious live potential.
- 🌴 “Give Thanks” – A more laid-back groove that still hits with purpose — classic Skindred versatility.
🎤 BENJI STILL RUNS THE SHOW
Let’s be honest — Benji Webbe is untouchable here.
Whether he’s spitting bars, dropping hooks, or commanding the vibe like a general in a ragga metal army, he brings energy, charisma, and pure authority to every track.
🎸 RIFFS + RHYTHM = CONTROLLED CHAOS
The magic of Skindred has always been in the blend — and it’s fully dialled in here:
👉 Crushing metal riffs
👉 Reggae/dancehall grooves
👉 Punk urgency
👉 Stadium-sized hooks
It shouldn’t work… but it ALWAYS does.
And on You Got This, it feels tighter, more confident, and more explosive than ever.
🧠 NOT JUST NOISE – THERE’S PURPOSE HERE
Beyond the chaos, there’s a message running through the album:
- Unity
- Identity
- Strength
- Community
It’s music that makes you move AND think — and that’s a rare combo in modern heavy music.
🎯 FINAL SCORE
⭐ 9/10 – A RAGGA METAL MASTERCLASS
This is Skindred doing what they do best:
- Bigger
- Bolder
- Louder
- And with absolutely zero compromises
If you’re a fan? You’ll love it.
If you’re new? This is one hell of an entry point.
🎶 “MY PEOPLE” – A FULL-ON ANTHEM FOR THE MASSES
Leading the charge is the brand-new track “My People,” dropping alongside a fresh video today — and it’s an instant crowd weapon ⚡
Frontman Benji Webbe puts it best:
“Calling My People. We have made our own way through this Ragga Metal Jungle… forging and sculpting our own unique heavy metal sound system.”
Expect this one to go OFF live. Proper Newport bounce chaos incoming 🏴🔥
🎛️ BIG PRODUCTION, BIGGER ENERGY
Behind the desk this time is Jay Ruston, a Grammy-winning producer who’s helped shape a record that feels massive without losing that raw Skindred punch.
The lineup remains rock solid:
- 🎸 Mikey Demus – riff machine
- 🥁 Arya Goggin – groove commander
- 🎤 Benji Webbe – the voice, the vibe, the movement
