๐Ÿค˜ SID WILSON PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGES SLIPKNOT OUSTING WITH ONE BRUTALLY SIMPLE BIO CHANGE

No massive statement. No ten-page explanation. No dramatic farewell video. Just four numbers, a dashโ€ฆ and nearly three decades of Slipknot history seemingly brought to a close.

Well then. This one still feels bloody strange to type, mun. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Sid Wilson has publicly acknowledged his departure from Slipknot, and in true Sid fashion, he hasnโ€™t exactly gone down the traditional route of issuing a carefully polished statement packed with PR-friendly phrases.

Instead, the longtime Slipknot turntablist appears to have let his Instagram bio do the talking.

And somehow, thatโ€™s even louder.

๐ŸŽญ FROM โ€œSINCE 1997โ€ TO โ€œ1997โ€“2026โ€

Wilsonโ€™s Instagram biography previously referenced his lengthy history with Slipknot, reportedly describing himself as being part of the โ€œ@slipknot gang since 1997.โ€

That wording has now changed.

His profile instead reads:

โ€œ@slipknot 1997โ€“2026โ€

Thatโ€™s it.

Four numbers.

One dash.

Nearly three decades.

Oof. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Itโ€™s a tiny social-media edit carrying the emotional weight of somebody dropping an entire flight case down a staircase.

There has been no sprawling farewell message from Sid explaining his version of events, no lengthy breakdown of what happened behind the scenes and no sentimental montage accompanied by Snuff.

Just:

1997โ€“2026.

If youโ€™re looking for the social-media equivalent of shutting the dressing-room door behind you, this might be it.

๐Ÿ”ฅ SID WILSON AND SLIPKNOT: NEARLY THREE DECADES OF ABSOLUTE CHAOS

Itโ€™s difficult to imagine Slipknot without Sid Wilson.

Known to Maggots around the world as #0, Wilson became one of the most instantly recognisable members of the Iowa metal machine.

And letโ€™s be fairโ€ฆ

The bloke was absolutely unhinged onstage.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Diving from ridiculous heights.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fighting with bandmates.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Climbing anything that looked remotely climbable.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Throwing himself around stages like gravity had personally offended him.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Scratching, sampling and adding electronic insanity underneath some of Slipknotโ€™s heaviest material.

Sid wasnโ€™t simply โ€œthe DJโ€.

He became part of the visual and musical madness that helped make Slipknot unlike practically anything else emerging from heavy music at the end of the 1990s.

When nine masked lunatics from Iowa exploded onto the scene, Wilson fitted perfectly into the chaos.

Possibly because he looked like heโ€™d been waiting his entire life for someone to say:

โ€œHere Sid, put this mask on and go absolutely mental.โ€

And he did.

For decades.

๐Ÿ’ฟ PART OF THE CLASSIC SLIPKNOT MACHINE

Wilsonโ€™s history with Slipknot stretches back to the bandโ€™s formative years before their self-titled major-label debut turned them into one of metalโ€™s most important modern bands.

From the sheer violence of Slipknot and Iowa, through the evolution of Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and All Hope Is Gone, and into the bandโ€™s later eras, Sid remained one of the familiar faces โ€” or masks โ€” within the Slipknot machine.

He survived changing masks.

Changing musical eras.

Changing line-ups.

Changing hairstyles.

And enough stage injuries to make an NHS receptionist quietly whisper:

โ€œNot him again.โ€

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค˜

Thatโ€™s what makes seeing 1997โ€“2026 written beside Slipknot feel so bizarre.

For generations of fans, Sid Wilson wasnโ€™t somebody who joined Slipknot.

He simply was Slipknot.

๐Ÿ˜ฌ A MESSY AND CONFUSING EXIT

The situation surrounding Wilsonโ€™s apparent departure hasnโ€™t exactly been straightforward either.

Reports and social-media activity surrounding his position within Slipknot created plenty of confusion among fans, particularly after announcements and subsequent online activity left Maggots trying to work out exactly what was happening.

Eventually, Wilsonโ€™s association with the band appeared to be over.

And now Sid himself has seemingly acknowledged that reality.

Not through an interview.

Not through a press release.

Not through a video.

Through his bloody Instagram bio.

Itโ€™s incredibly simple, but thereโ€™s something rather final about putting an end date beside the name of a band youโ€™ve spent the majority of your adult life performing with.

Slipknot: 1997โ€“2026.

Chapter closed.

At least for now.

๐ŸŽง WHAT HAPPENS TO SLIPKNOT NOW?

Thatโ€™s obviously the massive question.

Slipknot have undergone significant line-up changes throughout their history, particularly during the bandโ€™s later years.

The deaths of bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison remain enormous losses within the Slipknot story, while other longtime members have subsequently departed or been replaced.

Yet Slipknot have continued.

Thatโ€™s what this band does.

The masks change.

The stage changes.

The line-up changes.

But that enormous Slipknot machine somehow keeps rolling down the road.

Wilsonโ€™s departure, however, would remove another musician deeply connected to the bandโ€™s classic era.

And for longtime Maggots, thatโ€™s going to take some getting used to.

Because seeing Slipknot without #0 bouncing around somewhere in the madness?

Thatโ€™ll feel bloody weird.

๐ŸŽญ WHO REPLACES SID WILSON?

Then comes another fascinating question.

Does Slipknot actually replace him?

Do they bring another DJ or turntablist into the line-up?

Does somebody already within the bandโ€™s extended production setup take over those responsibilities?

Or could Slipknot use this moment to reshape their live sound again?

The band have never exactly been frightened of evolving.

But whoever potentially occupies Sidโ€™s position would have one hell of a job ahead of them.

Youโ€™re not simply replacing somebody operating turntables.

Youโ€™re replacing Sid Wilson.

The bloke spent decades becoming one of the most gloriously chaotic performers in modern metal.

Good luck replicating that energy without immediately requiring an ambulance.

๐Ÿค˜ AND WHAT DOES SID DO NEXT?

Thatโ€™s potentially the more exciting question.

Wilson has never been creatively restricted to Slipknot.

His interests have long stretched across DJing, electronic music, hip-hop, production and numerous side projects.

A post-Slipknot Sid Wilson could therefore go practically anywhere.

Solo material?

DJ performances?

Collaborations?

Another heavy project?

Something completely bonkers that nobody sees coming?

With Sid, youโ€™d probably be safer betting on โ€œsomething completely bonkers.โ€

And weโ€™re absolutely here for it.

โค๏ธ NEARLY 30 YEARS CANโ€™T BE ERASED

Whatever happened behind closed doors, one thing remains undeniable:

Sid Wilson played a massive role in Slipknotโ€™s history.

From the filthy clubs and chaotic early shows to festival headline slots in front of tens of thousands of screaming Maggots, he was there as Slipknot transformed from nine masked maniacs from Iowa into one of the biggest heavy bands on Earth.

Thatโ€™s an extraordinary journey.

His turntables, samples, masks, stage dives and general refusal to behave like a normal human being became woven into Slipknotโ€™s identity.

You donโ€™t erase nearly three decades with a line-up announcement.

And you certainly donโ€™t erase #0.

๐Ÿค˜ THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

There is something strangely fitting about Sid Wilson apparently acknowledging the end of his Slipknot career with nothing more than:

1997โ€“2026

No corporate waffle.

No carefully worded โ€œcreative differencesโ€.

No โ€œwe wish everyone the best in their future endeavoursโ€.

Just an end date.

After nearly three decades of masks, turntables, stage dives, broken bones, festival fields, furious riffs and complete heavy-metal insanity, #0 appears to have signed off from Slipknot.

And bloody hellโ€ฆ

Thatโ€™s the end of one hell of an era.

Whatever comes next for Sid Wilson, his place in Slipknot history is already carved into metal folklore.

Thanks for the chaos, #0. ๐Ÿค˜๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ’ฌ OVER TO YOU, MAGGOTSโ€ฆ

What do you reckon?

Can you imagine Slipknot without Sid Wilson?

Should the band replace #0, or continue without a dedicated turntablist?

And most importantlyโ€ฆ

What would you like to see Sid do next?

Get amongst it, butt. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ”ฅ

Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿค˜
