Alright you beautiful bunch of riff-loving rebels โ itโs time to put down the pint, pick up your phone, and help a cause that means the absolute world to our community. Youโve moshed for it. Youโve cried for it. Youโve screamed โWe Wear Blackโ with your fists in the air for it.
Now itโs time to click for it.
๐ฅ WHATโS OCCURRING?
The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is in the current MyGivingCircle Grant Round, and theyโre currently sitting at 22nd place โ which, in the world of online voting and charitable grants, is just about clinging to the main stage.
Theyโve already carried over 740 votes from previous rounds (proper job ๐), but to stay in the top 30 and grab a much-needed slice of ยฃ50,000, they need us lot โ the alt army, the goth squad, the metal militia โ to come together and absolutely smash that vote button like itโs the intro to โDuality.โ

๐ค WHY IT MATTERS
Because this isnโt just about a grant. Itโs about keeping the legacy of Sophie Lancaster alive โ a young woman who was murdered simply for dressing differently.
Her story became a rallying cry for a generation of outcasts, misfits, punks, emos, goths and metalheads whoโd had enough of being judged. Her family โ especially her incredible mum Sylvia, who sadly passed in 2022 โ turned grief into a mission. A mission to educate against hate, challenge prejudice, and make sure no one is ever targeted again just for being โdifferent.โ
This foundation is us.
This fight is ours.
And this vote is your chance to stand up and be counted.
๐ฃ ONE CLICK. ONE VOTE. LIFELONG IMPACT.
Hereโs the best bit โ you only have to vote ONCE. Thatโs right, butt โ no daily logins, no endless captchas, no sacrificing your email to the spam gods. Just one beautiful, juicy, righteous vote.
It sticks with The Sophie Lancaster Foundation until theyโre funded. So vote now, and youโre part of the journey all the way to the end.
And if you’re already thinking โah Iโll do it laterโ โ no. No you wonโt. Youโll forget and end up down a TikTok rabbit hole of drum cam footage and cats meowing to Slipknot. Vote now. Share later. Repeat as needed.

๐ค WHO WAS SOPHIE?
For those new to the scene: Sophie Lancaster was just 20 when she and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were attacked in a park in Lancashire in 2007. Why? Because they looked different. Because they were goths.
Sophie never woke up. But instead of responding with hate, her mother Sylvia launched The Sophie Lancaster Foundation โ a charity now internationally recognised for its work on hate crime, youth education, and social change.
And with your vote, theyโll have more funding to go into schools, festivals, councils and communities to spread the message of respect, inclusion, and understanding.
From Download to Whitby, Steelhouse to Slam Dunk โ weโve all seen the S.O.P.H.I.E. patches, banners, wristbands, and merch. Itโs time to back that with real support.
๐ถ๏ธ FINAL RIFF (AND A BIT OF A RANT)
Letโs be clear, mun โ this isnโt about charity clout or virtue signalling. This is about the core of our community. It’s about standing up for the alternative scene, the freaks and geeks, the queer and the loud, the ones who wear too much eyeliner and still cry at AFI lyrics.
The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is one of the few charities in the UK doing real grassroots work to make sure no one is harmed for being their true, glorious, weird little self.
Soโฆ

Make some f*cking noise.
Because if we donโt stand together โ who will?
