Mick Box โ the riff wizard, wah-pedal warrior and founding force behind Uriah Heep โ will sadly miss the bandโs entire upcoming 15-date tour as he continues to recover from illness.
Itโs a proper gut-punch for fans, no doubt about it, but the most important thing here is simple and non-negotiable: health comes first. Always.
๐ฉบ HEALTH OVER HEROICS (EVEN FOR LEGENDS)
Touring might look glamorous from the pit, but we all know the reality โ long drives, short nights, constant noise, and absolutely zero mercy on the body. After decades of doing this at full tilt, sometimes the most rock โnโ roll decision is knowing when to step back.
Mick is said to be on the mend, but not quite ready to throw himself back into full touring chaos โ and fair play to him. The riffs can wait. The stages arenโt going anywhere.
๐ถ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE TOUR?
The tour will still go ahead, with Uriah Heep honouring the run and keeping the shows alive for fans up and down the dates. That said โ and letโs be honest here โ
Mick Box isnโt just a guitarist in Uriah Heepโฆ
He is the sound.
That swirling wah tone.
Those instantly recognisable solos.
That presence you can feel even from the back of the venue with a pint in hand.
You could spot a Mick Box riff blindfolded, three beers deep, in the middle of a power cut. Absolute icon behaviour.
Still, the band pressing on shows the same grit and professionalism thatโs kept them rolling for over half a century. No doubt Mick will be backing them all the way from recovery mode, kettle on, amps temporarily silent.
