Thereโs something brewing in the UK progressive rock scene, buttโฆ and it sounds absolutely massive. โก๐ถ
Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter, guitarist and all-round musical powerhouse Leoni Jane Kennedy has officially announced her long-awaited debut album Synthetic, landing on Monday 15th June 2026 โ and honestly, this one feels like the beginning of something seriously special.
If you havenโt heard the name yet, nowโs probably the time to crawl out from under that pile of old festival wristbands and pay attention. ๐ ๐ธ

๐ FROM FREDDIE MERCURY SCHOLARSHIP TO PROG ROCK RISING STAR
Leoni Jane Kennedy isnโt your average up-and-coming artist trying to survive the chaos of the modern music industry armed with a TikTok account and blind optimism.
Nah mun โ this lass has already built a reputation as one of the UKโs most exciting progressive rock talents.
A PRS Guitars Official Artist, Leoni creates music drenched in soaring melodies, emotional depth and progressive influence, earning praise from fans and critics alike. Even The New York Times described her sound as:
โA welcomed portal to something passionate and powerful.โ
Thatโs not exactly your mate Dave reviewing a pub band after six pints of Dark Fruits, is it? ๐ ๐ป
Back in 2018, Queen legends Brian May and Roger Taylor selected Leoni to receive the prestigious Freddie Mercury Scholarship, funding her entire university tuition and helping launch her career into the rock stratosphere. ๐
Since then, sheโs gone from strength to strength.
Her 2023 acoustic reinterpretation album New World Woman โ featuring tracks by Rush โ completely sold out and saw her touring internationally, while this year she stormed her way to the No.2 spot in PROG Magazineโs โBest New Artistโ category.
And now? The debut originals album has finally arrived. ๐ฅ

๐ฟ SYNTHETIC โ BUILT FROM PASSION, STRUGGLE & PURE DETERMINATION
The story behind Synthetic honestly feels like a proper rock โnโ roll underdog tale.
After successfully raising funds for a complete physical merchandise range in just six days through Kickstarter, Leoni is now preparing to unleash her first professional body of original work into the world.
And sheโs doing it before heading out this October supporting blues-rock legend Walter Trout on his UK tour. No pressure then. ๐ ๐ค
Speaking about the album, Leoni shared a heartfelt message about the journey behind the record:
โI wrote the closing track of this album when I was just 13 years oldโฆ Iโm ecstatic to finally be able to release my first professional body of work to the public before I go on tour with Walter Trout this October and perform my debut album live.โ
She continued:
โItโs been a hell of a ride and not without its challenges. I have to thank Eliot Kennedy and Nick Andrew for their time and kindness in helping me piece this album back together, after I experienced how devastating this industry can be for a young lass trying to make something of herself.โ
Honestly? Fair play. The music industry can chew artists up faster than a Download Festival burger queue at midnight. ๐ง๏ธ๐
Leoni also thanked the fans who backed the Kickstarter campaign along with her family and late grandfather, calling the album release proof of their love and support throughout her creative journey.
And now weโre emotional in the press tent. Cheers for that. ๐ญ๐ค

๐ค RIFF REPORT VERDICT
Leoni Jane Kennedy feels like one of those artists standing right on the edge of a massive breakthrough moment.
Thereโs ambition here. Thereโs emotion. Thereโs musicianship. And most importantly โ thereโs authenticity.
In a world drowning in copy-and-paste industry plants and algorithm-friendly nonsense, Synthetic already feels like a record built with heart, grit and genuine passion for music.
And honestly? Weโre proper buzzing to hear it. โก๐ฅ
If this debut lands as hard as the hype surrounding it already has, Leoni could very well become one of the standout UK progressive rock voices of the next generation.
Watch this space, mun. ๐๐ธ
