THEATRICAL METAL CHAOS IS BACK, BUTT 😈🤘

Some bands announce tours.

Then there’s Avatar… who basically announce the beginning of a beautifully unhinged travelling nightmare circus complete with face paint, horror vibes, monstrous riffs, crowd chaos, and enough theatrical madness to make your local haunted house pack up and go home.

And now the Swedish metal visionaries have officially unveiled their massive “Don’t Go In The Forest ‘26” UK & European Tour, arriving just as the nights get darker, the weather gets colder, and Britain enters its annual “wet hoodie season.” 🌧️🍺

Honestly?
Perfect timing.

Because if there’s any band built for November gloom, eerie venue lighting, freezing queue lines, and beer-fuelled metal carnage… it’s Avatar.

The band will spend summer 2026 supporting Metallica in giant stadiums before headlining festivals across Europe and then marching directly into their own full-scale autumn headline invasion.

Which means by the end of 2026, Avatar will probably have performed in:

  • giant stadiums
  • muddy festival fields
  • dark sweaty venues
  • several people’s nightmares

A productive year really. 😈

🎟 THE IMPORTANT STUFF — TICKETS

PRE-SALE

Available now until 25th May @ 11PM

GENERAL SALE

Tuesday 26th May @ 10AM local time

Tickets available via:
avatarmetal.com

And if history has taught us anything, it’s this:

Waiting around “to see later” is how you end up paying triple the price while standing behind a bloke wearing a giant inflatable banana costume blocking your view of the stage.

Don’t risk it, mun. 🎫🔥

🗣 JOHANNES ECKERSTRÖM SOUNDS LIKE A METAL VAMPIRE AND WE LOVE IT

Frontman Johannes Eckerström delivered the sort of quote that only Avatar could produce without sounding completely ridiculous:

“A Europe in November. A Europe in December. Cold, wet and dark. We all know what it’s like, and we know exactly what you’ll need.”

This man talks like he’s inviting us into an abandoned cathedral for emotional support through blast beats. 😂🔥

He continued:

“The first European leg made us feel very lucky to be doing this. This time around, we will do everything within our power to make you feel lucky to participate.”

That “better than ever” mentality has basically become Avatar’s trademark over the years.

Every album gets stranger.
Every show gets bigger.
Every tour gets more theatrical.
And somehow the band still manages to feel dangerous and unpredictable rather than polished and corporate.

That’s rare nowadays.

A lot of modern heavy bands end up becoming overly safe once they hit larger audiences. Avatar have done the exact opposite.

They’ve doubled down on the madness. 🤘😈

🎪 AVATAR AREN’T JUST A BAND — THEY’RE AN EXPERIENCE

Trying to explain an Avatar live show to somebody who’s never seen them is genuinely difficult.

You can SAY:

  • heavy metal
  • melodic death metal
  • theatrical groove metal
  • circus horror rock

…but none of those labels really capture what actually happens inside the venue once the lights drop.

Because an Avatar gig feels less like a concert and more like:

  • a possessed carnival
  • a Tim Burton fever dream
  • a metal musical written by chaos goblins
  • a travelling horror theatre powered entirely by riffs and caffeine

One minute there’s a crushing groove section flattening the crowd into the floor.

The next minute Johannes is dancing around like a demonic ringmaster while thousands of fans scream lyrics back with terrifying enthusiasm.

Then suddenly everyone’s bouncing, circle pits are forming, beer is flying through the air, and somebody dressed as a plague doctor is crowd surfing toward the barrier.

Avatar gigs are absolute sensory overload in the best possible way.

And somehow… it all works perfectly.

🇬🇧 UK DATES — AND YES, CARDIFF IS GOING TO LOSE ITS MIND

AVATAR — DON’T GO IN THE FOREST ‘26

  • 20 Nov — Wolverhampton — KK’s Steelmill
  • 21 Nov — Southampton — O2 Guildhall
  • 22 Nov — Cardiff — Depot
  • 24 Nov — Dublin — National Stadium
  • 25 Nov — Belfast — Limelight
  • 27 Nov — Norwich — UEA
  • 28 Nov — Newcastle — Northumbria Uni
  • 29 Nov — Edinburgh — Corn Exchange

That Cardiff Depot show is already sounding dangerously spicy. 🌶️🔥

Depot has become one of Wales’ best venues for high-energy rock and metal shows over the years, and Avatar’s theatrical chaos feels tailor-made for that room.

Expect:

  • giant singalongs
  • wall-to-wall pits
  • dramatic lighting
  • face paint everywhere
  • at least four people immediately overheating in leather jackets
  • someone definitely yelling “PLAY HAIL THE APOCALYPSE” every 30 seconds

Standard behaviour for a Welsh metal crowd really. 🐉🍺

And Belfast’s Limelight?
That room is going to erupt.

Honestly, the entire UK run feels perfectly chosen venue-wise — large enough for spectacle, but intimate enough to keep that sweaty chaotic energy alive.

💀 SUPPORT COMES FROM NECKBREAKKER

Joining the tour are Danish death metal wrecking machines Neckbreakker.

Which is an absolutely elite support band name by the way.

No ambiguity there.

Not “Mildly Inconvenienced Vertebrae.”

Not “Slight Shoulder Tension.”

NECKBREAKKER. 💀

The support slot makes perfect sense too because Avatar crowds thrive on heavy chaos before the theatrical madness begins.

So expect pits before Avatar even hit the stage.

Hydrate accordingly, butt. 🥤😂

⚔️ SUPPORTING METALLICA IS MASSIVE FOR AVATAR

Let’s be honest here for a second…

Supporting Metallica in stadiums is not just “another tour.”

That’s metal’s Champions League.

And Avatar have absolutely earned it.

Over the last decade, the band have steadily transformed from cult favourites into one of the most unique and respected live acts in heavy music.

Not by chasing trends.

Not by softening their image.

Not by becoming radio-friendly wallpaper.

But by fully embracing their weirdness and turning it into a world-class live spectacle.

That’s why fans connect with them.

Avatar never feels fake.

Everything they do feels committed 100%.

And in heavy music, authenticity still matters.

🌍 THE EUROPEAN LEG LOOKS MASSIVE

After the UK and Ireland run, Avatar head into mainland Europe for an absolutely stacked schedule including:

  • Amsterdam
  • Oberhausen
  • Budapest
  • Prague
  • Zürich
  • Frankfurt
  • Padova
  • Zagreb
  • Bratislava
  • Wrocław

Basically, if you’re anywhere near mainland Europe this winter, there’s a decent chance Avatar are coming to emotionally destroy your local venue. 😈🔥

🎪 FESTIVALS, FESTIVALS, AND MORE FESTIVALS

Avatar’s 2026 calendar is absolutely packed.

Festival appearances include:

  • Graspop Metal Meeting
  • Rockharz Festival
  • Reload Festival
  • Trondheim Rocks
  • Göteborg Brinner

Meaning Avatar will spend most of 2026 doing what they do best:
terrifying casual festival-goers who accidentally wandered into the wrong tent.

Imagine turning up expecting “a nice rock band” and instead getting Johannes Eckerström staring directly into your soul through black-and-white face paint while blast beats melt your eyebrows off.

Character building stuff. 😂

🌲 “DON’T GO IN THE FOREST” FEELS LIKE PEAK AVATAR

Even the album title sounds like the beginning of an old horror story.

“Don’t Go In The Forest.”

Which obviously means:
everyone immediately goes into the forest.

That’s horror movie law.

Avatar have always understood atmosphere better than most modern metal bands.

Their music isn’t just heavy for the sake of heaviness.

It’s cinematic.
Dramatic.
Weird.
Uncomfortable.
Massive.

And that’s exactly why they stand out.

There are plenty of bands that can play heavy riffs.

Very few can create an entire world around their music the way Avatar do.

🎭 AVATAR ARE:

  • Johannes Eckerström — Vocals
  • Jonas Jarlsby — Guitar
  • Tim Öhrström — Guitar
  • Henrik Sandelin — Bass
  • John Alfredsson — Drums

🎸 FINAL RIFF REPORT VERDICT

Avatar aren’t just touring.

They’re building a travelling gothic metal carnival and unleashing it across Europe during the darkest months of the year.

Cold nights.
Warm beer queues.
Face paint.
Sweaty pits.
Massive choruses.
Creepy theatrical brilliance.

Honestly, this might end up being one of the best metal tours of 2026.

And if you see us disappearing into a haunted forest somewhere near Cardiff Depot in November…

Mind your business, butt. 🌲😈🤘

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
