Cardiff didn’t just host a parade – it hosted a revolution in rainbows.
On a day bursting with colour, music, unity, and unapologetic celebration, Pride Cymru Parade 2025 marched through the streets of the capital with love in its heart and fire in its step.
This wasn’t just a party. It was a reminder – that LGBTQ+ rights are human rights, that Pride is still a protest, and that Cymru stands for love, visibility, and fierce, inclusive joy.
🎉 The March Heard Across the Valleys
From the minute the first whistle blew and the rainbow banners began waving over Castle Street, you knew this year’s Pride was something special.
🔥 Parade Highlights:
-
20,000+ marchers filling the streets with every shade of the rainbow
-
Floats from LGBTQ+ organisations, charities, universities, and local businesses – all dripping in colour and creativity
-
Drag queens, kings, and non-binary royalty turning the roads into a glittery catwalk
-
DJs and drummers keeping the beat alive the entire way
-
And one enthusiastic golden retriever in a tutu who stole everyone’s heart 🐶💕
Marchers were joined by allies from every walk of life – NHS workers, teachers, rock bands, fire brigades, and proud Welsh families spanning three generations. It wasn’t just beautiful – it was powerful.
🏳️⚧️ More Than Just a Parade – A Movement
Pride Cymru 2025’s theme was: “Proud. Visible. Unstoppable.” – and the message rang loud and clear.
While the confetti flew and the bass dropped, voices also rose in solidarity for:
-
Trans rights in the face of rising discrimination
-
Inclusive education for future generations
-
Safe spaces for queer youth
-
Protection for asylum seekers fleeing persecution
-
And a demand for healthcare equity, especially for gender-diverse communities
Powerful speeches at the Civic Centre and Queen Street stages made it clear: we can celebrate and still call for change. We can dance while demanding justice.
🎤 “Pride was born from protest – and we will not let that fire go out.” – said one activist, met with roaring cheers.
🐉 Cymru, Culture & Community Spirit
No other Pride blends the magic of music, activism and dragon-sized community spirit quite like Cardiff. Whether you were a seasoned marcher or a first-timer nervously stepping out, there was a place for everyone.
🏔️ Welshness was woven into every part of the day:
-
Red dragons danced through the crowds
-
Daffodils were tucked into rainbow hair
-
Bilingual banners flew proudly
-
A choir from Merthyr sang “Calon Lân” alongside “Born This Way” – and yes, we all cried
Local businesses opened their doors and their hearts, from coffee shops handing out free water to kebab vans flying rainbow flags. The vibe? One of total, inclusive celebration.
🎶 The Afterparty: A Festival of Fabulous
When the parade ended, the party proper began. Cardiff’s City Hall lawns transformed into a full-scale Pride Village, buzzing with music, laughter, and non-stop dancing.
What went down:
-
💃 Drag Race UK queens bringing high-energy performances and high heels
-
🎸 Live music from Bright Light Bright Light, Welsh Ballroom Collective, and indie icons Adwaith
-
🎧 Silent discos, cabaret tents, poetry readings, and spoken word slams
-
🍔 Street food from across the globe (with plenty of vegan options, tidy!)
-
💆♂️ A quiet “Wellness Zone” for those needing a breather from the buzz
-
🎭 Kid-friendly spaces with crafts, glitter, and even a Pride-themed bouncy castle
The Pride atmosphere spilled well into the evening across clubs, pubs, and pop-up events – with safe, inclusive nightlife flying the rainbow flag till the early hours.
📸 Unforgettable Moments That Had Us Cheering (or Crying)
-
🐾 The dog in rainbow booties now unofficially known as “Sir Woof-a-lot of Pride”
-
🏰 The “Tidy Trans Cymru” float – complete with a cardboard castle and actual bubble cannons
-
👵 Auntie Sue from Ponty, age 76, leading a conga line while waving a huge bisexual flag
-
🧑🎤 A flash mob performing “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman on Queen Street
-
🏳️🌈 A massive crowd chant of “Trans Rights Are Human Rights” that echoed around City Hall
💬 Voices From the March
“This was my first Pride – I was scared, but the second I joined the march, I felt home.” – Elin, 18, Swansea
“We brought the kids to show them that love is love, no exceptions.” – Rhys & Dafydd, Aberystwyth
“As a queer refugee, seeing this support makes me feel safe again.” – Mariam, Cardiff
🌟 Pride Never Ends
Though the flags may come down and the glitter might fade (eventually), the message of Pride lives on. It’s not just a day. It’s a movement. A promise. A fight.
We keep showing up. We keep raising our voices. We keep protecting each other – because none of us are free until all of us are free.
🙌 Diolch, Cardiff – and See You in 2026!
To everyone who marched, volunteered, danced, cried, supported, and celebrated – THANK YOU. You made Pride Cymru 2025 a day to remember, a light in dark times, and a beacon of hope for what’s to come.
So until next year…
March on.
Dance proud.
Love loud.
And never apologise for who you are.
🏳️🌈🐉 Cymru am byth. Pride forever. 🐉🏳️⚧️
