Somewhere beneath a blood-red moon, beyond burning kingdoms and shattered cathedrals, a lone angel drags his battered armour through the ashes of a dying world.

His wings are broken.

His soul is scarred.

Demons claw at the horizon.

And yet somehow… he keeps marching forward.

That image alone tells you almost everything you need to know about Tyraels Ascension and their absolutely monstrous new album Grave Seeker.

Released on July 24th 2026 via Rottweiler Records, this is not simply another melodic metal release tossed into the streaming void never to be heard from again.

Nah butt.

This is an EXPERIENCE.

A dark fantasy epic wrapped in crushing riffs, emotional storytelling, savage vocals, soaring solos, and enough atmosphere to make your living room feel like the final level of a demon-slaying video game.

And honestly? The metal underground needs albums like this right now. 🤘🔥

🌑 TYRAELS ASCENSION ARE BUILDING AN ENTIRE WORLD

One thing that immediately separates Tyraels Ascension from countless other modern metal bands is ambition.

Massive, ridiculous, glorious ambition.

While plenty of bands are content writing disconnected songs about vague anger and skulls exploding in space, Tyraels Ascension have built an actual mythology around their music — a continuing narrative centred around the warrior angel Tyrael, battling against overwhelming darkness in a world consumed by demonic forces.

And somehow, despite the fantasy setting, the themes remain deeply relatable.

Because underneath the swords, monsters, blood moons, and chaos lies something painfully human.

Struggle.

Isolation.

Mental battles.

Loss.

Survival.

Refusing to surrender when life repeatedly kicks you square in the face while laughing at your Spotify royalties.

Tyrael’s journey mirrors the emotional exhaustion many people experience in the real world, and that’s why these songs hit harder than just “cool fantasy metal.”

There’s real emotional weight buried beneath the flames.

⚡ FROM HELL WALKER TO GRAVE SEEKER

Back in 2024, Tyraels Ascension exploded onto the underground scene with their debut album Hell Walker.

The album immediately gained attention thanks to its cinematic songwriting, crushing heaviness, and massive melodic hooks.

Critics praised the band’s ability to merge aggression and atmosphere without losing momentum, while fans quickly embraced the unfolding story surrounding Tyrael and his doomed world.

The reception was strong enough that the Hell Walker universe expanded beyond music and into gaming — with the story adapted into an actual video game featuring the band’s music and eventually landing on the Nintendo Switch.

Which, let’s be honest, is properly mental.

Most bands celebrate getting 14 likes on an Instagram reel these days.

Tyraels Ascension went and built an entire multimedia fantasy universe.

That level of dedication deserves serious respect.

🎸 THE RIFFS ON THIS THING COULD LEVEL MOUNTAINS

Right.

We NEED to discuss the guitar work because sweet merciful riff gods above… this album absolutely delivers.

Guitarists Kevin McNeil and Sean Searls are operating at frightening levels throughout Grave Seeker.

The chemistry between them is undeniable.

Every riff feels sharp, deliberate, and emotionally charged.

The album constantly shifts between furious melodic death metal aggression, classic heavy metal grandeur, and moments of haunting beauty without ever feeling disjointed.

One second you’re being steamrolled by vicious rhythm attacks.

The next you’re lifted skyward by soaring lead harmonies that sound like they were forged by wizard blacksmiths inside a volcano.

And unlike some modern metal releases that bury everything beneath overproduced mush and “LOOK HOW MANY NOTES I CAN PLAY BRO” nonsense…

These songs breathe.

The solos actually mean something.

Every melody contributes to the story.

Every lead section feels emotional rather than robotic.

It’s proper songwriting.

🥁 THE RHYTHM SECTION HITS LIKE A SIEGE WEAPON

Behind the blazing guitars sits a rhythm section that sounds like it could flatten buildings.

Adam Bodkin’s bass work gives the album real depth and weight, sitting perfectly underneath the chaos while still punching through clearly in the mix — which, let’s face it, is a rare luxury in metal production these days.

Meanwhile, drummer Brandon Dorman absolutely unleashes hell throughout the record.

The drumming is explosive without becoming overcomplicated.

Fast when it needs to be.

Groovy when it matters.

Atmospheric during the quieter passages.

And absolutely devastating during the heavier moments.

There’s restraint when required, but when the songs demand pure destruction? Dorman delivers like a man possessed by the spirit of every double-bass pedal ever forged.

🎤 ALEX THEESEN SOUNDS POSSESSED

Vocalist Alex Theesen deserves enormous praise here too.

His performance across Grave Seeker feels raw, emotional, and genuinely passionate.

There’s fury in his harsh vocals.

Pain in the quieter moments.

Determination in every line.

And crucially — you believe every word he’s saying.

That authenticity matters.

Because the second a concept album starts feeling forced or theatrical in the wrong way, the entire illusion collapses.

But Theesen sells this world completely.

Whether he’s roaring through apocalyptic chaos or delivering more emotional passages, he sounds fully committed to Tyrael’s journey.

🔥 TRACK HIGHLIGHTS — PURE METAL CINEMA

⚔️ “NO END IN SIGHT”

The opening track immediately establishes the darker tone of Grave Seeker.

The riffs burst forward with urgency while atmospheric melodies swirl around the chaos like storm clouds gathering before battle.

There’s this overwhelming sense of dread running beneath the entire track — as though Tyrael already knows the odds are impossible but marches forward anyway.

An absolutely killer opener.

💔 “BITTERSWEET”

One of the album’s emotional centrepieces.

This track balances melancholy and aggression beautifully, proving that heavy music can still hit emotionally without losing its bite.

The guitar solos here are absolutely stunning.

Honestly, if you don’t instinctively pull a dramatic metal face while listening to this song, check your pulse.

😈 “THE SUMMONING”

Pure violence.

This track sounds like the gates of hell opening directly into a mosh pit somewhere in South Wales during a thunderstorm.

Relentless drumming.

Savage riffing.

Massive melodies.

Utter chaos.

The kind of song that makes you want to sprint through a wall for absolutely no reason.

🩸 “IMPOSSIBLE DECISIONS”

One of the catchiest songs on the album while still maintaining the band’s darker atmosphere.

The hooks here dig deeper with every listen, proving Tyraels Ascension understand melody just as much as heaviness.

🌑 “TYRAELS CURSE”

The closing instrumental is cinematic brilliance.

Dark.

Haunting.

Massive.

The track slowly evolves from eerie atmosphere into towering waves of riff-driven drama that feel like the soundtrack to the collapse of an empire.

A phenomenal ending.

⚡ THE PRODUCTION IS HUGE WITHOUT LOSING ITS SOUL

Modern metal production can sometimes feel painfully sterile.

Everything perfectly quantised.

Every instrument polished until it sounds like it was assembled in a laboratory by robots wearing Slipknot masks.

Thankfully, Grave Seeker avoids that trap.

The production sounds massive but still organic.

There’s grit here.

Texture.

Space.

The guitars roar without overpowering everything else.

The drums hit hard without sounding artificial.

And the album retains enough rawness to keep the emotional impact intact.

This thing deserves to be played LOUD.

Preferably while dramatically staring at storm clouds with a hoodie on.

🎮 TYRAELS ASCENSION ARE DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT

One of the most exciting things about this band is how genuinely immersive their universe has become.

Between the albums, lore, visuals, and video game expansion, Tyraels Ascension are creating something much bigger than a standard metal release cycle.

It feels closer to discovering an underground fantasy franchise than simply following a band.

And in today’s overcrowded music scene, identity matters more than ever.

Tyraels Ascension have identity in abundance.

🤘 FOR FANS OF…

If your playlist regularly includes:

  • Megadeth
  • Trivium
  • In Flames
  • Soilwork

…then Grave Seeker deserves immediate attention.

🐉 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

Tyraels Ascension have delivered one of the underground metal scene’s most ambitious releases of the year with Grave Seeker.

It’s emotional without losing heaviness.

Cinematic without becoming cheesy.

Technical without disappearing into pointless wankery.

And above all else — it absolutely SLAPS.

This is the kind of album that reminds you why metal remains such a powerful form of storytelling.

Because when done properly, records like this don’t just sound heavy…

They FEEL alive.

Tyrael’s war continues.

The darkness grows deeper.

And honestly, we are fully ready to charge straight into the abyss alongside him. ⚔️🔥

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
