Place your bids now โ 27th Feb 2025
Rock โnโ roll auctions have always been a bit bonkers, but this one takes the (mouldy) birthday cake. Two strands โ yep, just TWO measly strands โ of Nirvana legend Kurt Cobainโs hair are going under the hammer, with bidding opening 27th February 2025.
Collected back in the early โ90s by a mate of the band (and carefully kept safe all these years like some grunge holy relic), the hair is being flogged as part of a wider rock memorabilia sale that also includes guitars, setlists, and other iconic tat.
๐ฐ Expected price? Somewhere between โa decent pint in Cardiffโ and โa down payment on your nanโs bungalow.โ Okay, realistically: thousands of pounds. Because when it comes to Cobain, fans will pay silly money for anything remotely connected to him โ guitar picks, signed receipts, even half-burnt cigarette butts.
Whyโs This Hair So Special?
Well, for fans, Cobainโs hair is as iconic as his flannel shirts and beaten-up Fender Mustangs. The messy blonde mop became a symbol of grunge itself โ scruffy, raw, and couldnโt-care-less cool. Owning even a strand is like owning a piece of Nevermind itself.
The Auction Madness Continuesโฆ
Weโve seen some wild sales before:
- Eddie Van Halenโs guitars going for six figures ๐ธ
- Ozzy Osbourneโs stage clothes fetching more than your car ๐
- Even Britney Spearsโ chewing gum once got auctioned (diolch but no diolch).
But Cobainโs hair? Thatโs one for the weird history books. Imagine explaining to your mates down the pub:
โYeah, I spent five grand on Kurt Cobainโs hair.โ
โProper job, butt. Did you at least frame it?โ
Would YOU Bid?
So, Riff Report crew โ would you fork out for a couple of stray strands of Cobainโs barnet, or is this just rock โnโ roll madness gone too far? ๐ค
Sound off in the comments below โ and remember, donโt try and clone him in your shed like some dodgy Jurassic Park reboot. ๐งฌ๐
