British heavy metal legends Saxon have announced an 11-date UK & Ireland tour for February 2027, and this one is coming with some serious old-school metal theatre. Weโre not just talking loud guitars, denim, leather and a few cheeky pints before doors. Oh no. Weโre talking the return of Saxonโs legendary 30-foot mechanised Eagle.

The run forms part of the bandโs Gods of Thunder World Tour Part 1, kicking off at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday 13th February 2027 before swooping through Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Cardiff, Bristol, Southampton and London.
And because Saxon never do things by halves, fans can also expect the return of their mighty Castles & Eagles stage production โ the kind of proper heavy metal spectacle that makes modern โbig screen and some smokeโ shows look like a school assembly with a fog machine.
THE EAGLE HAS LANDEDโฆ AGAIN ๐ฆ
For long-time Saxon fans, the Eagle is more than just a stage prop. Itโs a symbol. A big, ridiculous, glorious, metal-as-hell symbol.
Originally built in the early 1980s as Saxon prepared to tour their classic Denim and Leather era, the mechanical Eagle became one of the bandโs most iconic live visuals. Towering over crowds during their arena shows, it soon became part of Saxon folklore and helped inspire the title of their classic live album The Eagle Has Landed.
Now, decades later, that mighty beast is being dragged out of the heavy metal hangar once more.

There is one bit of news thatโll sting a little for Welsh fans.
The 30-foot Eagle will appear at all UK and Ireland shows except Cardiff, due to venue restrictions at The Great Hall.
Now, as a Welsh-based rock and metal blog, we are legally required to be mildly dramatic about this.
Cardiff getting Saxon but not the Eagle feels a bit like getting chips without curry sauce. Still tidy, still worth having, but you know something massive is missing.
That said, Saxon in Cardiff is still Saxon in Cardiff. There will still be riffs. There will still be fists in the air. There will still be enough old-school metal energy to rattle the roof, frighten the bar staff and make someoneโs denim jacket achieve sentience.
So yes, the Eagle may not fly in Wales โ but the riffs absolutely will.
